Hi everyone and welcome to this opening and first episode of the Open Talk series with Simran Meditation.
In this series I will explore different topics quite spontaneously,
In monologues in a way.
But in this very first episode I would like to talk about the same thing that I pretty much have to bring up in all of my courses,
Classes,
Retreats and so on.
And that is simplicity.
That which we do here,
The meditative state,
The clarity and the exploration of the underlying non-dual nature of existence.
That is the simplest thing there is.
And I need to say this because most people that show up,
They come with the idea that meditation is difficult,
I am too distracted,
I can't focus and so on.
But in the way that we go on,
In the way that Simran Meditation works,
None of that is relevant.
I have had now maybe hundreds of people starting off a session by saying I can't meditate,
I can't focus,
I am too distracted,
My thoughts are all over the place.
And two minutes later they are in total silence.
Not because they really achieved anything,
Just because that what we do is infinitely simple I would say.
In a way you can liken it to becoming aware of the fact that you are in space.
Most of the time your attention is running around amongst the objects and the happenings and events in space.
So it is very unusual for you to notice the fact that you are within space at all times.
And in the same way that you can't really reach space or do space or achieve space,
Because it is already here and you are within it.
Pretty much the same goes for the meditative state that I point towards.
You can't do it,
You can't achieve it,
You can't reach it.
So what you can do is to withdraw your attention for a while from your experiences,
From your sensations,
From your thoughts and put your attention simply in the fact that there is an underlying meditative state already present here.
There is a still conscious presence.
And by keeping your attention on this very natural and effortless meditative state,
Instead of chasing thoughts and experiences,
By keeping attention here,
Your experience of life will become colored by the qualities of this meditative state.
So your experience of life will become more still,
More present,
More peaceful,
But also more connected,
More free,
More open and without any effort,
More accepting and loving.
But of course these parts you have to experience for yourself.
There is no point of me pointing this out.
But what I want to point out is that if you want to explore with Simra Meditation and the way I do,
If you want to look at life from the meditative state and from there also explore the non-dual nature of existence,
The oneness,
The parts that are beyond description,
Then I want you to know that simplicity is the key,
That none of this is in any way difficult.
But what is difficult and what is complicated and requires a lot of effort is actually the state that you think of as normal,
The ordinary state,
The state that we are in most of our waking time as a society.
That state requires a lot of energy,
A lot of denial,
A lot of schooling,
Maybe 10 to 12,
15 years before you can reach a state where you are neurotically,
Obsessively,
Thinking,
Commenting,
Comparing,
When you are categorizing your experience without even wanting it,
When you can't even shut off your mind when you are not interested in it,
A state where you live in your beliefs more than your experience of reality,
A state where you see your projections more than you see what's in front of you.
That state my dears,
That state is the complicated one,
That's the difficult one to achieve,
That one requires effort and therefore also our minds being used to that state then projects its own complexity towards meditation while in reality meditation is the simple stepping out of that neurotic state.
So again the reason I bring all of this up is for you to remember when you walk in this direction,
When you move towards clarity,
Towards the meditative state and when you want to explore non-duality,
Remember simplicity,
Less is more,
No effort,
It's all about the about just shedding layer after layer of unnecessary effort and neurotic thinking,
It's just about releasing.
Remember simplicity.
So that was all for this opening session of the first episode of the Open Talk series with Simran Meditation.
More episodes to come shortly and if you want me to bring something up,
If you have a topic for me,
I will take that as an indication of what to explore in the future sessions.
So you're free to send me a message or to write it in some kind of comment section or so on.
Thank you for watching,
Thank you for listening and remember again simplicity,
The peace,
The beautiful state of presence,
All of that already here.
Remember,
Thank you and Namaste.
