Hello and welcome.
I'm Skylar Liberty Rose and today I'll be guiding you through a mini ritual and meditation to welcome Samhain.
Before we get started I'd just like to share a few words on the meaning of Samhain and what it represents.
Samhain marks the transition from the lighter half to the darker half of the year or the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter.
It has its roots in ancient Celtic culture and historically Samhain was a time when the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead was believed to be at its thinnest,
Allowing spirits to pass through.
This belief led to various customs aimed at honouring ancestors and warding off unwelcome spirits.
People would light bonfires and wear costumes to disguise themselves from ghosts.
The practices associated with Samhain have evolved over time,
Influencing the modern celebration that most of us know as Halloween.
Today many of us observe Samhain through rituals that honour memory and connection to the past,
Often incorporating elements such as storytelling,
Feasting and connecting with nature.
Today as we acknowledge and honour Samhain,
We'll be tapping into what you might be ready to let go of,
What you're ready to sow the seeds for and call into being,
And connecting with your ancestral guides.
So let's get started.
Find a comfortable position to sit and if possible have your feet connected to the ground.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose,
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
Filling your lungs completely,
Then exhale slowly through your mouth.
Breathing in and out.
Relaxing and releasing.
Feeling your body soften with each breath.
Feel the weight of your body connecting with the surface you're sitting on.
Feel the connection of your feet on the ground beneath you.
Imagine roots extending from your feet into the earth,
Grounding you firmly.
With every exhale,
Release any tension or worry into the earth,
Allowing it to absorb what no longer serves you.
As you breathe in and out,
Remember that Samhain marks the turning of the wheel into the darker days of the year.
It's a time of reflection,
Of honouring what has passed of honouring what has passed and of welcoming the wisdom of the ancestors.
I'd like you to visualize a warm golden light surrounding you,
A light that signifies safety and connection.
With each breath,
Draw this light closer.
Now,
Envision a path illuminated by flickering candles leading you to a sacred space.
Picture the colours of fall all around you,
Rich oranges,
Deep browns and soft yellows.
With each step on this path,
Reflect on what you wish to release from the past year.
Ask yourself,
What no longer serves my highest self?
What lessons have I learned?
What am I ready to let go of?
Let the answers flow into your mind,
Let the answers flow into your heart.
What am I ready to let go of?
Let the answers flow into your mind without judgement.
Simply acknowledge them and then breathe them out,
Releasing them into the light.
As you reach the end of your path,
Imagine another circle of light forming around you,
Connecting you to those who have come before you.
You might like to picture the faces of your ancestors if you know what they looked like or simply imagine the energy of those who support you from beyond.
Feel their love,
Guidance and wisdom enveloping you like a warm embrace.
In this moment,
Invite them to share their insights.
Repeat after me,
I welcome the wisdom of my ancestors.
Please guide me as I prepare to embrace the new season.
Listen for any messages that might arise,
Trust whatever feelings or thoughts come through.
Now,
As you sit in this sacred circle,
Reflect on what you wish to invite into your life in the coming weeks.
What intentions do you want to set as the nights grow longer?
Visualise your intentions becoming small seeds that you'll plant in the fertile soil of your spirit.
Imagine nurturing these seeds with the energy of your breath,
Watering them with your love.
As you prepare to leave this sacred space,
Express gratitude for your ancestors and the insights you've received.
Thank the season of Samhain for its offerings of introspection and connection.
Now,
Gently guide your awareness back to the physical space around you.
Take a few deep breaths,
Feeling your roots in the earth once more.
Wiggle your fingers and toes and when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Thank you so much for joining me for this meditation.
I hope you were able to release some of what you no longer need to carry with you.
I hope you were able to plant some seeds,
Some intentions and I hope you were able to gather the energy of the ones who have come before you and feel their guidance and wisdom.
As you move through the coming days of Samhain,
Carry the peace and connection that you've hopefully felt in this meditation with you.
Remember that this time is not only for honouring the past,
But also for welcoming new beginnings.
Embrace the mystery and trust in your journey as you move forward.
Thank you once again.
I am sending love and gratitude from my heart to yours.
