You would have learned a lot about the practice of emotional freedom technique.
I really recommend listening to that informative talk before participating in this practice.
Before we begin the emotional freedom technique,
Find yourself a comfortable place to sit.
Grab your favorite cushion and perhaps a blanket to make yourself extra comfortable.
Today we are going to be tapping on the emotion of fear.
This is a very natural emotion that is experienced often,
But can disrupt the natural flow and beauty of an everyday life.
As we prepare,
I would like you to bring to mind a negative experience of fear.
This could be the fear of rejection or the fear of failure.
Notice how much stress is felt within the body when the fear is reflected upon.
Rate this level of fear on a scale of 1 to 10,
With 1 being a fear that is barely visible and 10 being crippling fear and anxiety.
Write the score down to look back at it at the end of the practice.
If your initial level of fear isn't at least a 6,
Perhaps think of another fear-related situation that you would like to work on.
I would now like you to formulate a phrase with regards to your fear.
All of the tapping points mentioned can be found on the screen.
As you tap on the karate chop point,
Which is situated on the side of the hand,
Repeat the following statement after me.
Even though I feel scared and full of fear,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I feel scared and full of fear,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I feel scared and full of fear,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I feel scared and full of fear,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I feel scared and full of fear,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
We will now move onto tapping through the 7 meridian points.
Tap on each point 7 times or more if you feel necessary.
As you tap on the eyebrow point,
Repeat the following phrase.
All of this fear within my body causing me great discomfort.
All of this fear within my body causing me great discomfort.
Tapping the side of the eye,
Repeat,
All of these limiting beliefs that hold me back from being myself.
All of these limiting beliefs that hold me back from being myself.
Moving below the eye,
Repeat,
This feeling of fear that takes over my body.
This feeling of fear that takes over my body.
Tapping below the nose,
Repeat,
Not feeling worthy and feeling scared very often.
Not feeling worthy and feeling scared very often.
Tapping the chin,
Repeat,
All of this fear in my body.
All of this fear in my body.
Tapping on the collarbone,
Repeat,
Not feeling as if I'm capable of facing this fear.
Not feeling as if I'm capable of facing this fear.
Tapping under the arm,
Repeat,
Being held back by fear and rejection of stepping out of my comfort zone.
Being held back by fear and rejection of stepping out of my comfort zone.
Tapping the top of the head,
Repeat,
Fear that arrives when faced with various tasks.
Fear that arrives when faced with various tasks.
I now want you to take hold of your right wrist with your left hand while breathing in and out.
Repeat the following after me,
I choose peace and freedom from my fears.
I choose myself.
We will now repeat that tapping process with more positive affirmations to change those old stories that hold us back due to fear.
As you tap on the karate points,
I want you to repeat the original phrase of,
Even though I feel scared and full of fear,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I feel scared and full of fear,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I feel scared and full of fear,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Even though I feel scared and full of fear,
I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Now move to tapping the eyebrow point,
Saying,
I am set free from my fears.
I am safe.
All is well.
Tapping on the side of the eye,
I choose myself and liberation from the fears that hold me back.
Tapping below the eye,
I'm worthy of experiences that enrich my soul and are embraced without fear of failure,
Consequences or judgment.
Tapping below the nose,
I release all limiting beliefs that no longer serve me.
Tapping the chin,
I am set free from all that has previously held me back.
Tapping the collarbone point,
I acknowledge my fears and set them free in order to move forward.
Tapping under the arm,
I believe in my ability to move forward,
Step outside my comfort zone and escape my fears.
Moving to tapping on the top of the head,
I am safe.
All is well.
Take a hold of your wrist as you inhale and exhale,
Saying,
I choose peace.
As you close your practice,
I would like you to get in touch with your original fear and relook at it.
What would you rate it now on a scale of one to 10?
Has your level of fear,
Discomfort and anxiety around this fear decreased or has it stayed the same?
If you feel as if your fear could be further weakened,
Perhaps consider running through the tapping process again.
A very wise man once said that fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future.
If we can acknowledge our fear,
We can realize that right now we are okay.
Right now,
Today,
We are still alive and our bodies are working marvelously.
Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky.
Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones.
The only way to ease our fear and be truly happy is to acknowledge our fear and look deeply at its source.
Instead of trying to escape from our fear,
We can invite it up to our awareness and look at it clearly and deeply.
