Don't listen to this recording while driving or operating machinery.
As we enter the session,
You may want to sit upright in the position of attentiveness.
Then,
As best as you can,
Now letting go of the tendency we might have,
Wanting things to be different from how they are and instead allowing things to be exactly as we find them,
I pray that you may feel invited to step out o'clock time into this very moment,
Inviting the Holy Spirit in,
To rest in Him who loves you,
Who is near to you,
Who comes to you to draw you closer to Himself,
The One intimately aware of your unique challenges and the way He's going to use them for good,
That you may grow in the knowledge of Jesus,
That you may know Him,
Your God.
Amen.
God's provision,
Including rest,
Is an overflow of His presence.
He invites you to come to Him and when you do,
He provides you with peace and rest for your soul.
Let's begin this meditation and prayer by bringing your attention to a sense of your body as a whole.
Then,
Notice your arms from your shoulders down into your very fingertips,
Both of your legs all the way down to the soles of your feet.
Feel contact with the surface underneath you.
Now,
I invite you to slow everything down,
Offering yourself.
During this moment of physical,
Mental and emotional rest,
Neither clinging to nor rejecting any upcoming thoughts,
Simply noticing them like clouds in the sky.
We can practice this even better by lengthening our breath and listening to the sound of each inhale and exhale.
Feel how your body moves through your breath.
Then,
Take a deep inhale through the nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.
Repeat this five times in your own rhythm.
Then,
When you're ready,
Slowly soften your breath again,
Coming back to your natural breathing.
In us,
Let need for rest,
Rest with our Father.
You may want to end this sentence for yourself now.
God is with me in.
Breathing in through your nose,
God is with me.
Breathing out in.
Give in to a pause here,
Letting go of any attention or attempts for a moment.
Maybe you want to lean back a little,
Feeling that chair where you supported,
Digesting,
Settling and integrating these past sensations.
Let's then come back to an upright position again.
You then may ask yourself the question,
How do I carry my head?
How is my head carried by myself?
And then,
Almost as somebody would be calling from behind,
Moving breath to movement,
Turn your head to one side and slowly back to the middle and over to the other side.
Back to neutral again.
Also,
Going your head to your chest,
Breathing slowly,
Loosening these muscles in your neck a little bit.
Maybe making this emotion and flow,
Rolling your head slowly from one side to the other.
Breathe to movement.
And then back to neutral again.
Head over heart,
Heart over pelvis.
Allowing the soul,
Mind,
Will and emotions to connect to the most fundamental source of meaning and wellbeing.
To Him who already knows what is best for me,
Never leaves me and loves me.
To God who sees me.
Desire,
Chapter 43,
Verse 2 says,
When you pass through deep waters,
I will be with you.
Maybe you want to rest your hands on your thighs now,
Turning your palms up for a moment.
Listen to your heavy thoughts and burdens fall into your hands,
Giving it to the Lord your God,
Jesus the Christ.
I want to end this practice by reading Romans chapter 11,
Verse 33 to 34 and 36.
Oh,
How great are God's riches in wisdom and knowledge!
How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways!
For who can know the Lord's thoughts,
Who knows enough to give Him advice,
And who has given Him so much that He needs to pay it back?
For everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for His glory.
All glory to Him forever.
Amen.
