This guided meditation will help your child release their anxiety and stress about school. We begin with a short, relaxing breathing practice to calm their energy. Then we have them identify the emotions they are experiencing and envision breathing those feelings out, and replacing them with a new, positive emotion. We finish the meditation with a visualization where they get to experience their best day at school, which will train their brain that to remember what is possible. Let's begin getting really comfortable.

You can sit down or lay down,

Whatever feels good for you.

If you want,

You can even walk around as you listen.

And you can close your eyes or keep them open,

Either way is perfectly fine.

We're going to start taking a few big breaths into your body and I want you to think about what feelings are in your body right now when you think about school.

We're going to name those feelings.

Are you feeling nervous or a little bit anxious?

Are you feeling sad that you have to leave home or even frustrated?

Whatever you're feeling,

It's perfectly fine and I just want you to either name that feeling in your mind or maybe say it out loud.

Good job.

Now we're going to breathe that feeling out of your body.

We're going to let it all go.

So take a deep breath in through your nose,

Huge breath out through your mouth.

And just imagine that feeling is floating away out of your body,

Floating away from you like a cloud.

Let's do that one more time.

Take a big breath in through your nose and a big breath out through your mouth and just let those feelings go.

Let them out of your body.

We don't need those anymore.

Good job.

Now let's think about what feeling do you want to feel?

We're going to breathe a new feeling into your body and we're going to hold that in your heart.

Do you want to feel happy?

Do you want to feel calm?

Do you want to feel confident or even powerful?

Do you want to feel excited and ready to go?

Whatever you want to feel,

Just take a minute to think about that and hold that feeling in your heart.

If you want,

You can even name those feelings out loud or just think about them in your mind.

Great job.

Now let's take a deep breath in and as we breathe into our body,

You're going to breathe in those feelings that you want to feel.

Whatever feelings you decided,

Calm,

Peaceful,

Powerful,

Just breathe that into your body now.

Good job.

Now that your body is ready,

We're going to do a little imagination.

You might want to close your eyes for this,

But you do not have to,

Whatever you want to do.

I want you to imagine that you are all dressed and ready to go and you are about to walk into your school.

Feel in your heart,

You're still holding these positive feelings in your body.

You're feeling really strong and you know,

I can do this.

Now let's imagine you are walking into your school doors and you're starting to walk to your classroom and you're just so ready for your day.

It is going to be an amazing day.

The energy in your school is so cheerful.

You are smiling.

You are feeling really good and maybe even a little excited to go to school today.

You see your favorite friend and they say hi to you.

As you walk into your classroom,

Your classroom feels so happy.

Your classmates are being so kind to one another and everything just feels really calm.

You are ready to have the best day.

So now I'm going to give you a minute and I want you to just imagine what could your best day at school look like.

Maybe close your eyes and just envision how your most amazing,

Wonderful school day is going to go.

Great job.

Now let's imagine that your amazing,

Wonderful school day is ending and you had such a good day that it went super fast.

Now see yourself coming back home to your mom or your dad or whoever is waiting for you and they give you a huge hug.

You feel so proud of yourself.

You did it and your day went even better than you imagined and you're feeling really,

Really good about it.

Because now you know you can do hard things.

Let's take one more deep breath in and again just come back to those happy feelings you want to feel in your heart and just know that those feelings are inside your body now.

Remember this as you walk into your school and you have your best day yet.

You are so brave.

You are so strong.

You're going to have an amazing rest of your school year.

From my light to yours.
