I believe that gratitude is the antidote to a mundane life.
It has been so impactful to helping me realize the availability of magic and opportunity in life.
By acknowledging and genuinely appreciating what we already have can greatly shift our experience.
In this meditation,
The goal is to shift you into an attitude of gratitude.
Beginning with our eyes closed,
We will start with a body scan to notice what we're arriving with and to see how we are doing in this moment.
In a comfortable position,
Seated or lying down,
Bring your awareness to the top of your head.
Let it rest there for a few moments.
Let's begin our scan,
Slowly grazing our awareness over our eyes,
Down our head and face,
To our neck and shoulders,
Relaxing our tendons and muscles here.
Take a breath.
Scanning down the caps of your shoulders,
Down the arms,
Forearms and into the hands.
Scanning the back body,
Bringing the awareness to our upper back,
Melting any tension or stress that we find as we continue to scan down the body into our shoulder blades,
Mid-back,
Down our spine,
Towards the lower back.
Now let's scan the anterior aspect or our front body.
Scanning down the front of our necks,
Relaxing the throat.
Scanning down the chest,
Belly and into the hips.
Continue to gently scan down your thighs,
Into the knees,
Descending through the lower legs and into the feet.
I invite you to call a person to your attention that you would like to express gratitude for.
What do you notice as you bring them to your awareness?
What do you love about them?
Notice how good it feels to have this person as a part of your life.
Observe any emotion or sensation that arises with this.
Let's send this person some love and gratitude.
Slipping a card into an envelope with everything you wish to instill in this person,
Your love and your gratitude.
Thanking them for the things they've helped you navigate in your life,
The perspective that they have brought or perhaps what they have taught you.
Imagine this card soaring through time and space and arriving to them.
How does it feel to express this gratitude?
To give thanks as a gift?
Observe the feeling you are experiencing and drop the story that goes with it.
Simply bask in that feeling.
Before we bring this short meditation to a close,
Take a moment to acknowledge yourself.
For taking this time out of your day and week to tap into such a beautiful source,
Gratitude.
Hold this energy of light and appreciation in your heart for yourself.
Repeat after me in your mind or aloud.
Thank you.
I forgive you.
I appreciate everything you have done for me.
This feels good.
I am grateful.
Begin to gently wiggle your fingers and toes and let some light into your eyes to arrive back to the space.
I appreciate you.
Thank you.
