Hello and welcome beautiful Insight Timer community.
Today we are on day five of our 12 days of gratitude journaling.
And today for my oracle card,
I pulled from a deck by Tosha Silver called Divine Beloved.
And I got the card of emotions,
Which I love and I'm going to explain why.
It says I release strong emotions.
Change me,
Divine Beloved,
Into one who can easily access all my feelings.
Let me bless and release anger,
Resentment,
Or bitterness.
May I release any emotions that block happiness and contentment.
So yesterday I was having a great day.
Work has been a little busy lately,
Which is fine.
I do love my job,
But I got an unexpected announcement from my husband,
Who I do love dearly by the way,
That he was taking off three days and he was going to be around the house.
Now this is a challenge for me because I work remotely and I'm having a lot of quiet during the day and calm and peace.
It's just me and the pup.
So as much as I love him,
Having him around the house during the day throws me off because now my normal flow and my normal process is being interrupted by,
You know,
Him hanging around the house.
Maybe he's working on a project.
Our house is only so big,
You can hear everything.
And it's a wide open concept house,
Which is beautiful.
I love it.
But again,
It's best when I'm home alone during the day to do my job and not have any distractions.
So when he announced that he was going to be home for three days,
I was feeling myself a little anxious,
A little uneasy,
Honestly,
A little annoyed because,
And he knows this,
Because now I have to restructure my day around him being home.
Maybe he's sleeping late.
I don't want to make a lot of noise if he's in the house sleeping,
Or he might be watching something on the TV that I'm not necessarily interested in.
And I'm focused on my work.
I want to be able to concentrate.
I want that peace and quiet.
So I found myself getting annoyed and I thought to myself,
Wait a minute,
You're pushing gratitude.
Why are you being annoyed?
Let's let's turn this around.
Let's think about the things that we can focus on that's good about this situation.
He's going to be home for three days.
There's some things he needed to do around the house that he can do now.
He can look after the puppy so that I can focus on work because the puppy does tend to stop me during the day to play,
Which again is fine,
But having him home where he can distract the puppy for me and I can focus on work is a huge plus.
So long story short,
You see where I'm going with this.
I stopped myself from being annoyed and turned myself to focus on the gratitude.
And this is what I want to emphasize during these 12 days of gratitude journaling.
Life is not perfect.
There are things that will throw us off kilter on occasion and I feel that focusing on gratitude through gratitude journaling is a huge gift to me because it can turn those not so kind emotions around.
And again,
Things are not always perfect.
As you can see,
I too struggle with my emotions.
So I want to encourage you to use gratitude journaling when these things,
These thoughts arise.
And then today I thought for our prompt,
Let's name three things we appreciate about our home.
I work in a beautiful house in the woods.
I live in this beautiful house and I work there as well because I do work remotely.
And I used to complain because when it snows,
It's hard to get out.
Or,
You know,
If it's rainy or icy or windy,
The power will go out.
But on the flip side of that,
It is an absolutely beautiful house built by my husband and his brother.
Floor to ceiling glass windows.
I get to sit here all day working remotely,
Looking at the most spectacular view of these woods and these mountains.
And it changes when it's sunny,
There's flowers when,
When it's summer,
There's,
There's,
You know,
Birds outside chirping,
Even in the winter,
They're outside chirping.
When it's winter,
The scene is spectacular.
It's like living in a snow globe.
So I thought to myself,
You know,
Here I was getting annoyed because my husband was going to be in on my Zen space during the day,
When again,
I should be focusing on the beauty that's around me and the things that I have to be grateful for.
So I'm rambling,
But let's get back to journaling.
We're going to journal on three things we appreciate about our home.
And that can be anything,
Anything at all,
That it's quiet,
It's a nice color,
You love the way your couch looks sitting in your living room,
Anything at all.
And I'm going to listen to this beautiful background music by fellow Insight Timer teacher Manuel Portillo.
And the track is Northern Lights.
Definitely check out Manuel's music.
It's amazing.
And this is what we're going to be journaling to.
So let's put a few minutes on the timer.
And let's start journaling.
I hope you enjoyed your gratitude journaling time as much as I did.
And I hope it lifted your spirits as much as it does for me.
And let's meet back here tomorrow for day six of our 12 days of gratitude journaling.
Thank you for being on this beautiful ride with me.
And thank you for all your beautiful comments.
We'll meet back here tomorrow.
Until then,
Have an amazing day.
