Let's have a look why it's important to practice pranayama before meditation.
In as per patanjali yuga sutra we have eight limbs which is yama,
Nema,
Asana,
Pranayama,
Pratyahara,
Dharana,
Dhyana and samadhi which are the eight limbs the ashtanga yoga.
So yama,
Nema,
Asana which is the external yoga and then pranayama,
Pratyahara,
Dharana,
Dhyana and samadhi which are the internal practice of yoga and pranayama is the bridge between the external yoga to the internal practice of yoga.
So prana means life force energy,
Yama means control and restrain the life force energy.
So if you're not enhances the life force energy within your being with your energy centers through the chakras your nadis are not cleansed,
Not calms down.
Sometimes if the mind is so busy your nervous system is hyperactive and the mind becomes so restless.
This is one thing happen whenever the prana the life force energy is lower we feel low energy mentally and physically and also the thoughts it become increased level of thoughts comes and we get agitated the mood swings come so quickly.
Some days you know big problem comes you handle it very easily because the prana level is very high.
Some days small problems like you get agitated get angry so quickly because the prana level is low as I told also in the previous audio.
So this is very important to make the mind calmer relax the pranayama the life force energy should increase especially to the brain and which make the mind quieter and calmer it reduces speed of the thought.
So if the thought is so high it's very difficult to fall into the meditation.
So when the thought become less it's a preparational stage and also enhancing the energetic field.
We have five sheets the energetic body,
The mental body,
The physical body,
The blissful body so this the knowledge body so we have different sheets of koshas it's called koshas in yoga.
So this koshas to be purified this koshas to be extend and it's very important you do pranayama before meditation because it enhances the meditation more easily.
So without any preparation if you just go and sit in meditation it's not easy for beginners.
So pranayama is very important one is enhancing the prana the life force energy second through that it mind become quieter and calmer reducing the speed and then you can fall into meditation so quickly.
