Join Whitney as she guides you through a mantra meditation (using the mantra ja-bah-lee). Mantra is a Sanskrit term, with “man” meaning “mind” and “tra” meaning “release.” Think of a mantra — a word or phrase you repeat during meditation — as a tool to help release your mind. It can make a lot of difference, especially if you have trouble concentrating or getting in the right frame of mind. *Whitney is currently in a 200hr Meditation Teacher Training Course. Today I am going to guide you through a mantra meditation or in other words a transcendent meditation so mantra means repeating a phrase or saying that will allow for you to effortlessly let your mind settle down into a calm state of rest.

We will begin by taking a moment to find a relaxing seated position.

Resting your hands on your thighs.

Close your eyes or take a soft gaze.

Take the deepest inhale and exhale that you have taken all day.

I am going to say a simple mantra and you will repeat it back to me.

Jabali.

Good.

Repeat after me again.

Jabali.

Jabali.

Good.

Now say the mantra with me six times.

Jabali.

Continue to repeat the mantra mentally.

Continue to repeat the mantra to yourself in your mind.

As I guide you through a body scan.

Starting at your feet.

See what you can relax a little bit more.

Your toes.

Your ankles.

Knees.

Your eyes.

Your fingers.

Your chest.

Shoulders.

Neck.

Jaw.

Your tongue.

Teeth.

Eyebrows.

In your forehead.

Inhale through your nose.

Exhale through your mouth.

Chabali.

Continue to breathe.

As you repeat silently to yourself,

Chabali.

As you continue to take a body scan and just relax any part of your body that needs to relax a little bit more.

Allow for your inhales and exhales to get longer and deeper.

Allow for the mantra to fade as you begin to slowly awaken your body.

Chabali.

Take a deep inhale in through your nose.

Exhale out through your mouth.

Open your eyes.

The secret to walking on the water is knowing where the rocks are.
