Hello my friends,
Welcome back to Your Journey Yoga.
My name is Natalia and today we have a guided meditation for facing the discomfort of the unknown.
You can do this practice seated or lying down,
Whatever is calling to you today.
Take a moment to get comfortable and we'll begin.
Let yourself settle in in a way that feels good for you,
Letting yourself move and fidget around until you find a sweet spot of stillness in the body.
And as you settle in physically,
Allow the breath to join you,
Taking big full-body inhales and releasing slow soothing exhales.
Once you find that sweet spot of stillness,
Begin to soften the eyes,
Letting the eyelids droop heavily over,
And feeling the way that gravity grounds and connects you to the earth,
Bringing spaciousness between the eyebrows and releasing any tension that may be residing in the neck or the shoulders,
The belly,
The hips,
The thighs,
Scanning the body for where you may be holding and give yourself permission to connect with more ease,
Particularly when we are faced with the unknown.
We will catch ourselves gripping maybe harder than usual in the body.
So give yourself a few moments here,
Utilizing the breath as an ally,
To scan for this gripping and this holding that's manifesting physically and let yourself untangle.
Let the muscles of your body relax and surrender to the shape that you are in now.
As you allow your awareness to find these places of tension,
You might engage with a deeper,
More full-body breath,
Letting the breath fill spaces in the body that it normally doesn't reach,
Filling up the entire physical cavity that you were in,
And let your exhales bring a sense of surrender,
A sense of trust.
As you begin to soften physically,
You might begin to find ways that the mind is gripping and resisting this practice.
That may come in the form of ruminating on the past,
Planning things in the future,
Or anything in between.
Just take a moment to connect with the state of your mind,
Not to judge it or to label it,
But just to notice so you can meet yourself where you are.
Where is the tension in the mind?
What's causing it?
What is it connected to?
Since you've chosen this practice,
There's a good chance that it's connected to some sort of uncertainty in your life,
A path that you're aren't sure where it's headed,
An outcome that you're dying for certainty on.
Just notice what's alive.
Connect with the discomfort that you feel mentally and or physically and just let it be here.
You don't need to fix it right now.
Just meet it where it is and tell yourself the truth.
I wish I had more certainty about blank.
I don't know how to trust in the unknown.
Whatever it might be that's alive,
Just let it be here.
Face the truth of the experience that you're having.
If in facing this truth you've noticed that you've started holding the breath or tensing up somewhere in the body again,
Give yourself a moment to soften,
Remembering that you know how to relax.
You know how to release and the breath can be an ally.
Facing the unknown can feel really scary,
But whether we like it or not,
The nature of life itself is uncertain.
There's no way for us to accurately fully predict the way that things are going to pan out.
There are always tiny little details that will surprise us,
Sometimes in pleasant ways,
Sometimes in ways that challenge us.
It's just the way of life.
The unknown can be an invitation to co-create with each present moment.
An invitation to remember that you are the alchemist of your experience.
You decide whether you walk with faith or with fear.
As said by Bob Proctor,
Faith and fear both demand you believe in something you cannot see.
You choose.
So in each moment,
Let yourself remember.
Although you may not be able to control or predict every single outcome in your life,
What you are capable of is choosing your response,
Choosing the way that you engage with the unknown,
Choosing to trust in what each moment is for you.
Even if it is filled with discomfort,
Challenge,
Trust in each moment.
You have navigated tons of moments of uncertainty in your life thus far and here you are,
Facing another one and that's okay.
It's a natural part of your human experience,
But even by choosing to engage with this meditation practice,
You are giving yourself the opportunity to step more fully into that role of being the alchemist and that's something to celebrate.
So perhaps you lean in to your ability to trust yourself to navigate all that is unforeseen right now.
To lean into what each moment needs to be for you.
To walk with faith rather than fear.
As the remainder of this practice unfolds,
If you find the mind gripping for certainty in some way shape or form,
Whether that's reliving patterns of the past or trying to predict the future,
Come back to the breath,
The body and remind yourself that you are capable of choosing the now.
You are capable of choosing trust.
You can allow your awareness to condense back down into the body by taking a big full body breath and beginning to invite some movement that feels good for you.
Maybe blinking the eyes open when you feel ready and bringing your hands to rest at heart center.
Maybe taking a reverent bow to honor your practice and your decision to show up.
I'm so glad you chose to be here today.
I'll see you in the next practice.
Namaste.
