Okay,
Welcome to your morning gratitude meditation.
You know,
I think life can be so onerous and trying at times that it can be really,
Really easy to sort of slip into self-pity and,
You know,
Taking stuff for granted that perhaps somebody else would really cherish and wish that they had.
So,
Just for the next couple minutes here,
Let's just go ahead and make a conscious decision to arrive all at once.
Setting aside all the stuff that's going to be certainly coming at us later today.
So,
Take a seat,
Sit up straight,
Comfortable at the same time,
And let's just start with some deep breathing.
So,
Fill your lungs all the way full at your own pace.
And once they get all the way full,
Let your lungs empty themselves out just as fully and just as slowly.
And as you continue to breathe,
Just sort of feel yourself in your seat.
Feel your butt on the cushion or whatever and feel your feet on the floor and your thighs against the cushion,
Your back up against the chair or couch or whatever it is.
And continue to breathe deeply.
Now,
As you inhale and exhale deeply and listen to the sounds around you and feel yourself in the seat,
With each inhalation,
I want you to bring to mind something that you have that you can feel a sense of warmth and gratitude towards.
So,
I don't know,
You know,
Maybe the first one is the relationships in your life.
So,
Just breathe into a sense of warmth and gratitude towards your intimate relationships or your family relationships or your close friends or your family.
Just bring those people to mind and think about how fortunate you are to have them.
Just keep breathing and sort of marinating on the good fortune that you have to have these people in your life and the opportunity to show up for them each day.
Yeah,
Just thinking about them.
Thinking about maybe,
How can I show up for them today?
And I want to turn your attention to a feeling of opportunity that is likely in front of you today.
So,
You could be getting ready to go to work,
Go to school,
Be a father,
A mother,
A wife,
A husband,
A sibling.
Whatever it is that you have to do today.
Let's take a moment to sort of reframe it in the sense of,
Well,
Maybe I get to do these things today.
And someday I won't get to do these things anymore.
I won't be able to work anymore.
I won't be able to communicate as clearly as I can today.
I won't be able to move my body as well as I can today.
I won't be able to learn as much as I'm learning today.
Just think about the opportunities that you have in your life to really lean into life.
The adventure of life.
The good times and the bad.
It's funny for me,
Looking back,
Particularly on my twenties,
Those are some of the most difficult years of my life.
But they're also some of the happiest memories that I have.
It's funny how that works.
And lastly,
As you continue to breathe slowly and deeply,
I want you to think about the gratitude that you can have for virtue in your life today.
Little tiny micro opportunities to be 10% more honest,
More humble,
More courageous,
More industrious.
Think about the virtues that you feel make you a really decent man or woman or whatever.
And just think about the fact that you have one more shot today to be a little bit better.
A little more honest,
A little more hardworking,
A little more sensitive,
A little more humble,
A little more brave.
Just breathe into that for a second.
Okay.
Well,
Thanks for showing up today for yourself.
And just take a moment as you transition to your day to maybe pat yourself on the chest a little bit and say,
Alright,
I'm going to do the best I can to sort of lean into the day today.
Alright,
I'll see you next time.
