And come back to the self-recognition of our own awareness.
And this is the awareness beyond the finite mind,
Still and vast.
So nothing needs to happen in this space.
Nothing needs to be understood.
Stillness is already present,
Silent and spaciously in the now.
I'm not guiding you towards,
I'm pointing to that which is already present,
And that's your imperturbable awareness.
Is formless,
Unborn,
Still and silent.
Once we believe we are in the world,
We become subject to it,
Defined by it,
Conditioned by it,
And vulnerable to,
And often times,
Conflicted.
And we can spend our life trying to survive in it,
Control it,
And extract meaning and purpose from it.
But this never works because the premise was wrong from the beginning,
And that premise is that we believe we are in the world.
This imbalance is the foundation of duality,
The separateness felt in people's lives.
The distance between doing and being,
Between inner and outer.
And this belief,
This disconnection,
Is the cause of virtually all mental,
Emotional suffering.
So just take a nice deep breath,
At the top of the breath,
Hold it for a moment,
And then exhale,
And allow the breath to land wherever it does.
We are pointing to that which is boundless,
And our own personal awareness is not something that arrives,
Or departs,
It doesn't have a beginning,
Or an end,
It's not a concept,
It's not a belief,
It's not a dogma,
This is the innate essence of being that is present at the first breath of life.
It is the background,
The unmoving background of all perceiving and points of view,
But awareness is the unmoving background behind all.
Everything that appears is finite,
The metaphor could be that it is the movie screen upon which all movies of life are shown,
But the characters in the movies do not affect the screen itself,
Or the passing clouds in the sky do not disrupt the pristine presence of the sky itself.
So we take a step back from thought,
And thought is simply an appearance,
And there is nothing to do here,
There are no projects,
It's not bound by time,
It cannot be constrained,
It cannot be known,
It simply is,
One's beingness,
One's presence of being,
Spacious,
A presence of ease and flow,
The effulgent light of one's inseparable awareness,
It is not contained,
The physical mind is an appearance within one's imperturbable awareness,
It is dimensionless,
And mind will try and grasp some understanding of this,
But whichever way mind tries to deliver itself,
It is standing in quicksand,
And ultimately mind will simply let go,
Especially the egoic mind,
Is an appearance of thought,
Habitual thinking,
Patterns of thinking,
And when there is nothing to grasp,
Or when there are no projects for the mind,
It drops away,
It returns to the pristine presence of the natural mind,
Our imperturbable awareness,
And when all thought falls away,
And there is a timeless stillness present,
Then in that space there are no objects,
And this is the space of deep sleep,
But here we are in the same space,
In that inner stillness,
Silence,
We are fully present,
Alive and spontaneous,
Here there are no stories,
No narratives,
All has fallen away,
This is true freedom,
Uncaused,
Unknowable,
In this space there is untapped intelligence and wisdom,
And with this there is a silent knowing,
Without form,
No labels,
Anything that the mind uses,
Pull us back into its limited awareness,
All falls away,
There is no direction mind has,
It will try to pull you back in some way,
Just let all thought pass,
Don't allow,
Don't give the mind something to do,
Remain empty,
And slowly slowly the mind begins to let go,
Leaving us in this pristine stillness for longer and longer periods,
Until it becomes automatic,
Nothing can touch,
Nothing can disturb,
Imperturbable awareness,
And all we need to do is to rest,
Fully relax,
Remain open,
And empty,
There is nothing to grasp,
There is nothing to understand or know,
For if there was,
Then that would bring the infinite back to the finite,
We are open and free,
Spontaneous,
Creative,
Our presence is universal,
Through the heart of oneness,
We are developing clear seeing,
A seeing with no filters,
A seeing through the purity of the heart,
Where compassion and love,
Respect and kindness spontaneously arise and manifest in our life,
Unconditionally,
There is no hesitancy here,
We trust through our inner knowing,
We have faith in our own intuitive awareness,
This is our freedom,
Beyond all conditioning,
As we increasingly let go,
There is nothing to fear,
What the mind would consider unknown,
And where fear might arise,
The heart embraces,
As the truth of the fullness of being,
Fear is a concept,
Love is universal,
Needing no explanation,
There is no sense of a physical body,
Within our imperturbable awareness,
There is no sense of us breathing,
Fully relaxed,
Open and still,
Don't give mind anything to do,
Your presence is your power,
Your presence is your sensitivity,
Your presence is your willingness and enthusiasm and joy,
And to finish this exercise,
Just take a nice long deep breath,
Pause for a moment,
And then as you exhale,
We can exhale together with an ah,
So come to the top of the breath,
Pause for a moment,
And then ah,
And feel that vibration through the heart region,
Once again,
Breathe in,
The top of the breath,
And then exhale,
Ah,
Remain still,
Remain spacious,
And just be here,
Because beingness is constant now,
This is your gift to yourself,
When you are ready,
You can wiggle your toes and roll your shoulders and come back into the body,
But remain still and open.
