Welcome to this space.
Take some time to arrive and allow yourself to settle.
Give yourself some time to get comfortable.
You may like to rearrange your position and get yourself into a posture that feels relaxed.
Hopefully you will feel warm and cozy.
It's important to take this time at the beginning of a meditation to find a position that allows you to let go of the distractions of the day.
You've given yourself this space,
This time and that is all that matters right now.
As we begin to go deeper I would invite you to bring your focus onto your body.
We will do this in a very gentle way.
Just start by noticing any areas that may be pulling for your attention.
There may be areas of tension or discomfort.
Just notice any sensations of warmth or cold.
There may be parts of your body where your clothes feel tight or loose.
Where does your body make contact with the surface that is supporting you?
Notice your feet.
Where you are sitting or lying.
Where does your back make contact with the surface that you are in contact with?
Wherever you are right now just take the time to simply pay attention to your body with kindness.
This act of observation helps us to drop down out of the mind and the busyness of all our thoughts.
We are reminded that our bodies need some care and attention as well.
Consider for a moment all that your body does for you.
You may like to wish your body well,
Reaching out with some kind words of gratitude.
As you think about all the actions that your body does throughout the day.
Your legs that do all the walking.
Your arms that carry and support you.
Your hands capable of so many complex tasks.
I realise that sometimes our bodies don't always work as we would like them to.
You may be dealing with disability or pain that makes it difficult for you to be grateful for your body.
But the very fact that each of us is alive as we focus on this meditation is a reminder that there is more right with us than may be wrong.
So often we get caught up in focusing all of our attention on the things that we feel are wrong,
Things we would like to change or fix.
We give so much of our energy to try and solve our problems or the problems of others.
How would it feel to just give yourself a break from all this problem solving,
Trying to fix things,
Always looking for solutions,
Trying to make things better.
Take a deep breath now and as you do,
Imagine that just for a little while you could be free from all that effort.
Meditation offers you a space and the rest that you really need.
In this meditation we can choose to put our problems down and take the time to review and reflect what it is we really want to give our energy to.
Do you really need to be carrying all of these problems with you everywhere you go?
Would you rather be thinking about something else?
Our imagination is capable of so much more than we give it credit for and yet we spend so much time going over the same thoughts,
Thinking about the same things.
Imagine if you will your thoughts drifting into the background now,
Floating away.
Like clouds allowing you to see the clear blue sky beneath.
In this next stage of the meditation I am going to invite you to come for a walk with me.
Every step by step we will go together,
Heading first out of the door and into the warmth of a sunny day.
The sky is blue and there is a gentle breeze.
All is well and there is nothing to worry about.
We are leaving behind the cares of the day.
Just for now all you have to think about is where you would like to go.
Maybe you have a favourite place in mind.
It could be anywhere,
A place that holds a memory of a happy time.
Or maybe somewhere you have always wanted to go but never had the chance.
See if you are able to visualise this place now.
Are you inside or outside?
What can you see?
What can you hear?
Is anyone with you?
Try to bring all of your senses into this place.
What could you smell?
What can you feel?
What can you taste?
I often like to imagine myself sitting by a campfire on a warm evening.
I can hear the crackle of the flames,
The smell of the wood burning.
Someone may be playing some music gently in the background.
This is one of my happy places where I can relax and switch off.
You may like to join me here as we gaze into the fire together.
Watching the flames twist and turn,
The dance of the different colours and the glowing embers below.
There are bright stars in the night sky overhead as you look up,
Slowly relaxing and enjoying being here now,
With nowhere else to go and nothing else to do.
Remember you are always doing your best,
Trying to make things better.
Remember you are always doing your best,
Trying to make things better.
But we all need time to rest and it's okay to stop.
It's okay to put things down and give yourself a break.
We will be moving on from the fire now,
As we slowly return once more to our own surroundings.
Aware once again of the contact with the surface that is supporting you.
Becoming aware of any sounds close by and in the distance,
Then taking your time to come back into the room,
Into the space and opening your eyes slowly when you are ready.
Fall electronicthen beep.
