Release regret and find freedom.

Much of our regret hangs out in our heads.

Today,

Together,

We will begin to release its grip and hold.

Remember you may need to repeat this meditation a few times.

You might want to grab a pen and a piece of paper that you are happy to tear up or burn safely after.

This is completely optional.

See how you feel.

Very often with those heavy feelings of regret comes shame and layers and layers of heavy thoughts and emotions.

Especially if you've carried this for a while.

So remember to just be really gentle and kind with yourself today.

Now if this is something you struggle with,

I want you to take the next few moments just to gently close your eyes and go with me.

Start to be aware of the solid earth you can feel beneath your feet.

The chair against your body or the bed.

Become aware of the clothes you have on.

Sitting against your skin.

And now begin to notice yourself breathing.

Without changing it,

Just simply noticing it.

Where are you feeling the breath?

Can you soften any tightness you feel around the navel and belly?

And as you let go,

Notice how lovely and easy your breathing begins to feel.

So I'm going to take a few deeper breaths now,

But they will all be at your pace.

Breathe in as slowly as you comfortably can until you feel like a fully inflated balloon.

And then just let it go.

Out through your mouth like a beautiful sigh.

Continue these breaths.

And start to bring in the intention of letting go during that sigh.

A full body sigh.

With every exhale.

Feeling as though each exhale will release and purify tension.

Continue for another three.

Keep feeling your whole body drop a little as you sigh,

Release and let go.

And then let your breathing return to a natural easy flow.

And I want you to imagine now a young child or a young animal that you absolutely love and adore.

See their beautiful face now.

Look into their eyes.

Your care,

Compassion and love for this child or animal is unshakable.

Start to imagine or recall a time when they made a mistake and came to you for support.

Remember how you comforted them,

Held them and spoke to them.

Feel into that reassurance,

Compassion and love.

Free from judgment and allow those feelings to stay present with you now.

The feeling of regret is your body and intuition's way of speaking to you.

You know this.

You are feeling this.

And the way out is radical self-compassion.

It's now time to accept the choice you made and invite in forgiveness and compassion.

Know that as you do this you may cry.

Allow every tear to flow.

And know that with each tear there is a droplet of freedom inside being released.

When you're ready,

Take three slower breaths and gently take both hands to your heart.

If you notice any resistance,

Take a moment,

Rewind or tap back into the compassion you felt earlier.

It's exactly the same.

It's now directed at ourselves.

And begin to repeat the following but make sure you say them out loud.

I accept the choice I made at the time.

I forgive myself for making this choice.

I now know myself deeply.

I know I have to forgive myself and my choice.

I know it is weighing heavy within me and it is time to release it and let it go.

Maybe I didn't know any better.

Maybe I did.

Either way,

I'm ready to let it go.

I love you.

I forgive myself fully.

I am ready to let this go.

I forgive myself fully.

I release any shame I am feeling.

I forgive myself fully.

I love you.

I choose to free myself.

I no longer punish myself.

I forgive myself fully.

I feel compassion and kindness for any mistakes I made.

I love myself and I forgive any choices I made.

I continue to grow and learn about myself and my needs.

I release any shame now.

I am ready to forgive myself now.

I forgive myself the compassion I deserve.

I love myself deeply.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

When you feel ready,

Take another three or four deeper breaths with now gentler,

Softer sighs as you exhale.

Allow yourself a few minutes and some space to simply notice what you notice.

How you're feeling.

Every feeling you have is valid.

Maybe you'd like to write on your piece of paper what you've released and then ready to tear it up and burn it safely.

Or maybe you just feel okay to stay exactly as you are.
