A guided journey to meet the Greek Goddess Persephone. Persephone is a goddess of thresholds and returns. Of the sacred descent and the powerful re-emergence. She lives in the liminal spaces, in the in-between where old identities are stripped away, and something deeper begins to take root. To walk with Persephone is to honour both your descents and your risings. To stay open to what your seeking reveals, even when it’s not what you expected. You don’t need to know all the answers. You just need to trust that your roots will hold you as you grow. She reminds us that the sacred is not only found in the light. And that every return begins with a willingness to go deeper.

Find a comfortable position to sit or lie down.

Allow your hands to rest loosely on your belly,

Your heart,

Or at your sides.

Settle,

Get comfortable,

And when you are ready,

Close your eyes.

Take a long,

Slow breath in through your nose and then sigh it out through your mouth.

Repeat that inhale and exhale.

With every breath you take,

You feel your body soften and relax.

With every breath,

You release any tightness or tension across your forehead,

Your jaw,

Your neck or shoulders.

Your belly is soft.

Just let it go.

You are safe.

You are held and supported.

Outside things can drift away now.

Your attention is anchored in you,

In the present,

To the sound of my voice and to the gentle tide of your breath.

Allow your whole body to grow heavy,

Supported by the earth beneath you.

You begin to feel a warmth like spring sunshine pooling at the crown of your head and then slowly flowing down through your face,

Your neck,

Your shoulders,

Through your torso,

Into your hips,

Your thighs,

Your knees and all the way down to the soles of your feet.

You are heavy and present.

You are anchored and held.

You see yourself standing in an open field at dusk.

The sky is streaked with beautiful soft purples,

Oranges and deep indigos.

The air carries the earthy scent of growing things,

Wildflowers,

Jasmine,

Damp soil,

That sweetness of the air in early spring.

Ahead of you,

You see a stone archway draped in ivy and delicate narcissus.

This is a threshold and it pulls you towards it.

You know that you want to step through.

As you step towards the threshold,

The sound of the outer world fades.

Here there is no need to rush.

No need to know all the answers.

You only need to take the next step.

You reach the archway and as you cross beneath the light shifts,

The air grows cooler,

Not cold but refreshing like water from a deep well.

You hear it,

The water,

Somewhere ahead.

The path beneath your feet is mossy,

Damp and alive.

You keep on walking,

Trusting that your feet know where to go.

After a while,

The path opens into an underground garden glowing with soft otherworldly light.

Moss-covered zones shimmer faintly,

Bioluminescent flowers cast a gentle radiance,

Pomegranate trees hang heavy with fruit,

Their branches arching protectively overhead.

In the centre of this sacred place,

There is a stone well and Persephone is there,

Waiting.

She rises as you approach,

Her dark hair flowing,

Her eyes deep pools of knowing.

Both queen and maiden,

She carries light and shadow with effortless grace.

She welcomes you with a smile and gestures for you to sit beside her at the well.

You feel her presence,

Steady,

Strong,

Loving and you sit beside her by the well.

It's so deep,

You cannot see the water but you see a faint glow at the bottom and you know that this world has many depths,

That you have many depths and you also know that you have great light within you.

Just stay here for a few moments in this beautiful underground garden with the goddess by your side,

Knowing that you are wonderful right as you are now,

Knowing that she sees you and loves you,

Knowing that you don't need to have it all figured out.

Persephone takes your hands in hers and she places something into your hands,

It might be a pomegranate or maybe a different object or symbol that carries meaning for you.

Notice what it is,

Feel its weight,

Its texture,

Its significance.

She invites you to listen to your own inner knowing as it bubbles up now,

What rises within you?

Is it a word,

A message,

A feeling,

A memory?

Allow the message to arrive in whatever form it chooses,

Bubbling up from within you now.

You don't need to understand it,

Just be open to receive.

When you are ready,

You know that it is time to go,

Persephone places her hand gently over yours and reminds you that you can return to this garden whenever you need to reach her or to remember who you are.

You thank her and rise and begin retracing your steps along that mossy path that takes you back to the ivy covered archway.

You cross under the threshold once again,

Stepping into the twilight field under a canopy of stars.

You feel the cool night air on your skin,

You feel the ground solid beneath your feet and in your hand or pocket you feel the gift that Persephone has given you,

That you can take with you as you return home.

You bring your attention back to your body now,

Noticing the surface beneath you,

The rise and fall of your breath.

Start to gently wiggle your fingers,

Wiggle your toes,

Take a breath in and out and when you are ready,

Open your eyes.
