Hi,

I'm Lexi,

And I want to share a story with you today that has helped a lot of my clients when their lives have felt heavy or overwhelming.

It's actually an old Hawaiian teaching,

And I love it because it reminds us all that no matter what we're going through,

There's always a light inside us,

And it's always shining,

Whether we are aware of it or not.

So we might agree that sometimes it might feel like life has a way of piling things on us.

It might be stress at work,

Maybe self-doubt about some of our choices,

Anxiety about the future maybe,

Or that quiet inner voice whispering,

Am I good enough?

Sometimes it can feel like a lot.

So in this Hawaiian story that's called The Bowl of Light,

We're asked to imagine that within each of us,

There is an invisible bowl,

And inside that bowl is a bright,

Steady light,

Our spirit if you like,

Our true essence,

And it's a part of us,

We're born with it,

And it's alive,

Resilient,

And whole.

And then as we go through our lives from childhood,

Things happen,

And we start to drop stones into the bowl,

And we're not even aware that we're doing it.

Some are small,

Like a frustrating conversation or a little worry,

And others are heavier,

Stress that lingers,

Anxiety that might keep us awake at night,

And that feeling of never measuring up.

And it starts when we're young,

And we just keep on adding stones,

Until when we're an adult,

We can often forget that the bowl is even there.

We just focus on the stones,

On what's weighing us down,

And the light feels hidden,

Distant,

Almost forgotten.

But here's the beautiful part,

We don't have to figure out where each one of these stones originally came from.

We don't need to analyze every worry,

Or trace back every fear.

Instead,

This beautiful story teaches us something simple and freeing.

We can hoolie the bowl,

That's a beautiful Hawaiian phrase,

And it means we can tip it over,

Just let the stone slide right out,

And then we will see that the light is shining again.

When we hoolie the bowl,

Relief washes over us.

And here's the truth,

The light is always shining,

It is always there,

It's never gone anywhere,

We don't need to earn it or justify it,

We just need to remember it.

So,

If you're feeling weighed down today,

Remember your bowl,

Imagine yourself gently hoolieing it,

Letting all the stones just fall right on out.

Feel your light expand,

Filling the space that was blocked for so long.

That light,

Your light,

Is always within you,

Always ready,

And it's always shining.

Even just a moment of remembering that the light is there can make so much difference.

You don't need to carry the stones forever,

None of us do.

We can hoolie the bowl anytime we like,

And breathe,

And let our natural light remind us of who we truly are.
