Hello and welcome to this dream incubation meditation for deep rest.
Our dreams can be a place for us to heal,
For us to work through the problems that arise in our daily waking life,
And our dreams can be a place of deep insight.
Insight is non-conceptual,
Just like dreams.
Let's find a comfortable place to lay down for the night.
Make sure your screen is turned to sleep mode,
Turn your lights off,
Put your sleep mask on,
Pull the blankets up,
And get comfortable.
And know that every adjustment that you make will help to move you into deeper comfort,
Into deeper rest,
Allowing your eyes to gently close.
Begin by breathing in and out,
Bringing your conscious awareness to your breath,
Taking a deep breath,
And releasing that breath.
This may be the deepest breath you've taken all day,
So let's savor it,
Breathing in long and slow,
And releasing,
Allowing your body to release its weight into the surface that is supporting you.
Set an intention for your dreaming practice tonight.
If you want to have a dream of healing,
If there's something that you have been thinking about that you're looking for a solution for,
Set your intention to have an insight.
When we pay attention to our dreams,
Be they from our own subconscious or from the great mystery,
We are entering into a relationship with the deepest parts of us that can reveal inner truths and wisdom that we don't normally have access to in our waking life.
By setting this intention,
You are entering into a respectful relationship with your own deep wisdom.
Once you've chosen an intention for your dreaming practice,
Allow your mind to settle,
And if you ever feel that your mind is drifting into places that don't have to do with your intention,
You can gently guide them back to what you're intending to do tonight while you sleep.
Now let's relax our body,
Starting with the head,
Feeling the muscles of the face,
Breathing in,
And on the exhale,
Releasing any tension that you can from your cheeks,
Your eyes.
Breathing in,
Feeling into the head as a whole sensation,
And breathing out,
Releasing any tension that you can.
Breathing in,
Feeling the front of your neck,
And breathing out,
Releasing any tension.
Breathing in,
Feeling the back of your neck,
And allowing your neck to soften,
Because it's time to rest.
Breathing in,
Feeling your shoulders,
And on the exhale,
Allowing your shoulders to fall away from the ears and sink into the surface that's supporting you.
Breathing in,
Feeling your chest,
Rising,
And breathing out,
Feeling your chest falling.
Breathing in,
Feeling the middle body,
And breathing out,
Relaxing.
Breathing in,
Feeling into the belly,
And breathing out,
Allowing the muscles in your belly to relax and release,
To be at ease.
Breathing in,
Feeling your back,
Your lower back,
And breathing out,
Allowing yourself to sink further into the surface that's supporting you,
Giving up all your weight to the surface.
Breathing in,
Feeling your hips,
And your pelvis,
And releasing.
Breathing in,
Feeling your thighs,
And relaxing.
Breathing in,
Feeling your knees,
And breathing out,
Releasing.
Breathing in,
Feeling your calves,
Your shins,
And breathing out,
Let go.
Breathing in,
Feeling your ankles,
And breathing out,
Letting them be at rest.
Breathing in,
Feeling your feet,
And breathing out,
Releasing.
Breathing in,
Feeling your arms,
And relaxing.
Feeling your hands,
Your fingers,
One by one.
And if you're not already asleep,
Sleep is a wonderful place where I heal my body.
Sleep is a wonderful place where I heal my mind.
Sleep is a wonderful place that I enjoy going to at the end of the day to refresh,
To renew,
And to restart.
There's nothing I need to do to earn rest,
This rest is sacred,
And a part of who I am.
This rest is necessary for me to live an embodied human experience.
And I am grateful for this precious time.
My dreams are an important part of who I am.
My dreams gently guide me to what my soul is longing for.
My dreams are my allies,
Friend,
And guide.
