This particular meditation is designed to support you in times of loneliness and every human in the world feels lonely at some point and feelings of loneliness or isolation can often be compounded at festive times of the year when there are societal expectations that we ought to be having fun and spending more time with loved ones but for many of us that is not always the case.
Sometimes just by being in close proximity to our friends or family doesn't actually change our own experience of feeling quite isolated and lonely.
So this meditation will be a friend to you if any of what I've said so far feels or sounds familiar and you're encouraged to find any position to rest in that is conducive to stillness without overthinking it,
Just allowing your body to fall into rest,
Succumbing and if you feel comfortable closing the eyes,
You might close the eyes.
At some point we all feel like we're walking the road alone.
Feelings of isolation and despair or feelings of being alone are very very normal and they are a welcomed part of the human experience.
Just taking a moment to consider your breath and as much as possible just getting out of the way of that innate wisdom of the body as the body breathes the breath and you're invited to place a hand or hands onto the heart which is located just to the left of the breastbone and your heart has been with you for a very long time.
The heart is the first organ the heart is the first organ to form in embryo and a heartbeat can sometimes be detected as early as 16 days inside the womb so the heart,
Your heart has been with you long before you had a brain,
Long before your other organs formed there was the heart and the heart space is something very ancient and primal and perhaps you can allow yourself to sink down into the wisdom and the knowledge of the heart.
Every moment that you've been on this earth and so too from the forming of the heart in embryo you have had a companion and your heart is always there doing what it needs to do to keep the blood pumping and for you to be nurtured and alive and your heart will be your companion on this journey all the way to the end and seeing if you can fall into that rhythm and solace of the heartbeat and the body which is made up of streams and rivers of fluids and there are mountains that come in the form of bones so that internal landscape and tapestry of the body is so wide and varied and complex seeing if you can have a sense of the solidity and the fluidity of the body and the fluidity of the body and your body in its infinite wisdom has cells that are specifically designed to sacrifice themselves for your health and your well-being if your skin becomes injured there are cells that will rush to the injury rush to that site and sacrifice themselves so that you might heal even on a cellular level your body has been your companion and it always has your best intentions at heart breathing into your heart and feeling the cells of your body vibrate with your aliveness and your awareness of your own well-being in our society sometimes we like to put labels on feelings these feelings are good and those ones are bad and therefore they're banished and you're all the feelings that come to the heart as a house and they won't be here for long so whatever brought you to this particular meditation today just know that everybody in the world has felt the things that you're feeling not only that but there are hundreds and thousands millions of people all around the world who feel something similar to how you're feeling right now other people who also feel alone or isolated perhaps as you keep your hand on the heart space allowing the breath to expand into the cave of the heart and in so doing so holding in your heart all the people of the world who are feeling the same things that you're feeling knowing that you're not alone and now as we move to close this practice you're invited to call into your heart space someone or something that you love very dearly perhaps a small animal or wee child or somebody that you have a straightforward uncomplicated relationship with somebody that it's really easy to call love and gratitude into the heart just noticing the effect that thinking of this person or entity has on your heart and on your cellular system on your body and we'll take one more long slow nourishing breath in and a clearing breath out this too shall pass beautiful people thank you so much for joining me
