Hi everyone and thank you for meditating with me.

I hope you're having an amazing day.

This short meditation for kids is inspired by the Lakota four-direction prayer,

Honoring the sacred connection to nature and the wisdom of the east,

The south,

The west,

And the north.

This meditation fosters a sense of peace and gratitude while celebrating the beautiful teachings of the Lakota people.

Let's take a quiet journey together.

Please find a comfy spot wherever you are and either stand up or remain standing for this meditation.

Now take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Now close your eyes and imagine you're standing in a big green open field and feel the ground beneath your feet and stand strong.

Continue to face forward and imagine you are facing the east direction where the sun rises.

Stretch your arms up to the sky like you're reaching for the morning sun.

Imagine the sunlight tickles your face and makes you smile.

Take a deep breath in like you're smelling the fresh air of a brand new day.

Now exhale and let your arms gently fall to your side.

The east helps us feel ready to learn and grow.

Now turn to your left and imagine you are facing the south.

Picture the warm sun shining on your face and soft grass under your feet.

Now give yourself a big hug wrapping your arms around yourself.

Whisper,

I am loved and I share love.

Feel the south's warmth filling your heart.

Next turn left again and imagine you are facing the west where the sun actually sets.

The sky is full of soft colors like orange and pink.

Now pretend you're holding a balloon filled with your worries,

Everything that's on your mind.

The west reminds us to let go of our worries.

Now take a deep breath in and as you breathe out let your balloon float up into the sky As you breathe out let your balloon float up into the sky and watch it drift far far away.

The west helps us let go.

Now turn left one last time to face the north.

Picture a tall snowy mountain in front of you.

Stand up straight and strong like a tree growing at the top of the snowy mountain.

Feel the cool fresh crisp air.

Take a deep breath in and say I am strong,

I am wise.

The north gives us courage and wisdom.

Finally turn back to where you started.

Now imagine all the directions coming together inside of you.

Place your hands over your heart.

Feel the earth beneath you holding you steady.

Above you the sky stretches out forever full of dreams and endless possibilities.

Take one more big breath in and out and now you are ready for your day.

And as always thank you for meditating with me.

Good bye for now.
