Hello and welcome to The Daily Insight.

My name is Andrew Johnson.

In today's meditation we'll be focusing on emotional freedom.

Wishing you a restorative practice.

So whether you're sitting or lying down,

Make yourself comfortable.

Take a nice gentle deep breath and out and allow your eyes to close.

They work so hard for you.

It's nice to spend some time eyes closed and as your eyes start to relax you start to drift deeper within.

It's only when I mention it that you notice the flow of your breathing.

In and out.

In and down and up and out.

Noticing the difference in temperature between your in-breath and your out-breath.

And as you rest your awareness on your breathing you're drifting deeper.

The secret is of course not to try.

You just allow it to happen.

Each out-breath taking you a little deeper,

A little softer,

A little more comfortable too.

With the breathing comes physical heaviness.

This is not something that you make happen.

It just happens all on its own.

But it's nice to notice it.

It's nice to notice the heaviness whenever and wherever it appears.

It's nice to welcome it,

To accept it,

To encourage it as you drift deeper and deeper within.

Noticing the heaviness drifting back to the breathing.

Your breathing taking you deeper.

The outside world drifting away.

It's just you here now.

Just you and the heaviness.

Just you and your breathing.

Just you and the sound of my voice.

The sound of my voice that guides you deeper and deeper within as we go on.

As human beings wanting to move on towards success,

Whatever the word success means to you,

We know that we have emotional links that can often hold us back.

Habits from the past stopping us moving on.

Negative thoughts from the past that stop us moving on.

Negative behaviors from the past that stop us moving on.

Some of them are conscious.

We know about them.

They stop us moving on.

Some of them unconscious.

We're not aware of them on a conscious level but they still stop us moving on.

Here and now.

In this moment you're starting to recognize all the little strands connected to the past that are stopping you moving on.

You may feel them.

You may sense them.

You may see them.

You may just have a knowing.

You may recognize them or you may not.

But in this moment,

Right here and right now,

You start to trust the process.

In your mind you turn and look behind you.

You see these strands.

You feel those strands,

Those connections,

Those unwanted,

Unnecessary connections going back to the past.

They're anchored there in the past behind you.

As you try to move forward now,

They feel as if they're holding you back.

But now,

Here,

In this moment,

Your unconscious mind knows what's happening.

Your unconscious mind understands.

And your unconscious mind knowing that it has full access to all your resources,

Your abilities,

Your strengths and your skills,

Is giving you tremendous power.

Giving you determination and motivation.

And so it's time to start moving on.

With those connections behind you,

Trying to hold you back,

You take one step forward.

Good.

The connections are being stretched just a little.

Moving towards success.

You take a deep breath.

One more step now.

Come on,

One more step.

Those connections are stretching.

Slightly weakened now.

You can feel them tugging,

Holding you back.

And your determination grows.

One more step.

Come on,

One more step.

Make the effort moving forward.

You can feel the connections lengthening,

Becoming thinner,

Becoming weaker,

But still holding you back.

Taking a deep breath now.

One more step.

Use all your energy.

One more step.

And suddenly,

One of the connection breaks.

You get a tremendous feeling of confidence and positivity.

A sense of freedom and accomplishment.

And of course,

It means that the rest of the connections aren't holding you back as much as they were a few seconds ago.

One more step.

It seems a little easier now.

Come on,

Just one more step.

They're weakening.

Lengthening.

And there goes another.

You feel a little release as the connection breaks.

Another surge of positivity,

Of excitement,

Of freedom.

Knowing that you are releasing yourself from the past.

From unnecessary,

Unneeded,

Tiresome,

Troublesome,

Unwanted habits,

Behaviours,

Thoughts.

You can take a bigger step this time.

One more step.

One more step.

Come on.

Stretching.

And another two connections break.

You feel a bigger release this time.

A sense of power and achievement.

The beauty of this technique is that there's no need for analysis.

You know this is a powerful,

Positive,

Wonderful thing to do for yourself.

Your unconscious mind working beautifully for you.

One more step and it seems easier.

A bigger step this time.

As you step forward,

The remaining connections are stretching,

Thinning out,

Becoming weaker and weaker.

It may seem now harder and harder for you to remember what those connections are.

They're so far back in the past.

And you test now.

One step.

Two step.

The connections getting weaker.

Picking up the pace.

Three steps.

Four steps.

Five.

You're moving faster now.

Faster and faster.

Those long-established connections becoming further and further back into the past.

Becoming weaker,

Thinner,

Longer.

You're breaking into a jog now.

It feels amazing.

The power and energy coursing through your body.

Filling the lungs,

Your heart pounding.

The adrenaline is flowing now as you move forward.

Faster and faster.

One by one,

The old connections are breaking.

And as they do,

You're feeling a greater and greater sense of freedom,

Accomplishment,

Achievement.

You're running easily,

Effortlessly.

It's so easy now to run,

Picking up the speed.

The connections are breaking one by one.

Snapping,

Breaking,

Loosening,

Changing,

Releasing.

There's only a few left now.

The longer established ones,

The deeper ones.

And you're really picking up the pace and you can see just in the distance of finish line.

You know that as you pass through this finishing line,

Every connection will be broken.

Every unnecessary habit,

Every unneeded behaviour,

Every unnecessary thought has been left in the past.

And you start to count down before the finish line.

Five.

Four.

Three.

Freedom.

Two.

Freedom.

One.

And every connection breaks all at once.

All the remaining connections break as you yourself break through the finishing line.

And you stand there with a wonderful feeling of freedom,

Of confidence,

Of positivity,

Of achievement.

You feel amazing.

You look back into the distance,

Into the past,

And you realise those habits,

Those thoughts,

Those behaviours are now in the past.

They're no longer connected to you.

They're just a memory.

A fading,

Dissolving,

Disappearing,

Dim,

Distant memory.

For you have drawn a line.

You have retaken control.

You are back in control.

And it feels wonderful.

Your mind is calm and clear.

Your breath returning to normal.

Your heart rate returning to normal.

Your body relaxing.

And you're filled with a sense of accomplishment,

Achievement.

You are back in control.

And this technique can be used at any point,

For any reason.

If at any point you notice that some other unwanted connections are remembered,

You can use this technique at any point.

And so,

As we near the end of this meditation,

I'm going to count up slowly and gently from 1 to 10.

At 5,

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

At 8,

Gently open your eyes.

And at 10,

Have a gentle stretch,

Bringing back a sense of accomplishment and achievement.

And a lovely,

Deep and long-lasting sense of emotional freedom.

For you are back in control.

So at 5,

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

At 8,

Open your eyes.

And at 10,

A deep breath and a gentle stretch.

2,

3,

Coming back up.

4,

5,

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Coming back up.

6,

7,

8,

Open your eyes.

9,

10,

A gentle stretch,

An awaking breath and bringing back a sense of freedom.

Be gentle with yourself and enjoy the rest of the day.
