Focused on self-awareness, this 3 minute meditation encourages you to stop and ask if the negative thoughts or inner chatter you’re experiencing are based in reality. By bringing these thoughts into the light, you can more easily let them go and stay present in the moment.

So taking some time to sit down,

Feet on the floor,

Hands on your lap and closing down the eyes,

Allowing the eyes to rest and relax,

And gently connecting with your breath,

Noticing the flow in and out,

Noticing how natural this feels now.

Very often we find ourselves dealing with inner criticism,

Inner chatter that very often is negative and detrimental.

Today's exercise is noticing those thoughts,

Stopping and connecting with your breath once again and asking yourself,

Is this thought based in reality?

Is this thought real?

It can come as some surprise to notice that these thoughts are completely fictional,

Habitual,

Circular,

They come and go and go and come again,

Without us paying attention to them and asking,

Is this real?

Is this thought based on the reality of this moment?

This simple exercise brings those thoughts into the light,

So to speak,

And sitting relaxed with your breathing,

When these thoughts come into the light,

With a little compassionate analysis,

They simply melt away.

You can practice this technique at any point,

If any negative thoughts or inner criticism starts.

And so bringing this technique back with you,

You can have a gentle stretch,

A slightly deeper in and out breath,

And open your eyes,

Returning to the day.
