Go ahead and get yourself situated.
Lying down comfortably.
Taking whatever you need for support.
A pillow or blanket underneath the head.
Perhaps a pillow or blanket underneath of the knees.
Using an eye pillow if you have one.
And covering your body if you know you tend to get cold.
This will be a breathwork meditation for healing.
Making any final adjustments that are necessary.
And then when you are ready,
Closing your eyes.
It is easy to heal.
All we must do is relax and let our body do the work.
Take this time to breathe your very best.
Many people go entire days without even thinking about their breath.
And yet it is the very thing that keeps us alive.
Your breath has been there for you since the beginning.
Fitting each moment exactly as it needs.
The breath never asks questions and never judges you.
It simply signals the body to be calm,
Allowing for great healing to take place.
Let's honor our breath and all it gives us by taking 5 significant and purposeful breaths together.
Inhaling in.
Expanding the belly and chest as much as you can.
Hold the breath.
Exhale,
Feeling a wave of relaxation sweep over you.
Inhaling in,
Filling your entire body with fresh oxygen.
Hold the breath.
Exhale,
Again feeling a wave of relaxation gently sweeping over you.
Inhale in,
Feeling so deeply that you are brimming with air.
Hold the breath.
Hold.
Exhale,
Noticing how your body relaxes without any effort on your part.
Inhale in.
Trying to feel these breaths purify your entire body.
Hold the breath.
Hold.
Exhale,
Not having to do anything at all.
Just notice how you are feeling.
Inhale in.
Feel beautiful breath filling your body.
Hold the breath.
Hold.
Exhale,
Allow a wave of relaxation sweeping over your body.
Bring your awareness into your entire body and notice how relaxed you feel at this moment.
Your body full of an abundance of oxygen.
This is how our bodies were created to feel.
Breathing deeply and fully is an expression of self-compassion.
Let your breath flow freely and notice how this abundance feels.
Bring your awareness to the top of your head.
Notice how it feels.
Move your awareness to your eyes.
Notice how your eyes feel.
Ask them to relax.
If you feel any small eye movements,
Let them help you feel calm.
Notice how the back of the head feels against the surface that it is touching.
Allow your head to feel heavy.
Move your awareness to the nose.
Notice the sensations of air moving in and out with your breath.
On your next inhale,
Imagine you are being filled with natural healing energy.
As you exhale,
Your body feels light and deeply relaxed.
Taking your awareness to the ears,
Notice how they feel.
Listen to sounds all around,
Distant and close,
Prominent and subtle.
Staying in touch with the sound of my voice,
Allow any outside noises to become part of the practice,
Letting them take you down a little bit deeper into a state of healing.
Bring your awareness to the mouth.
Notice how it feels.
Imagine yourself biting into a fresh piece of your favorite fruit.
Notice how the mouth waters.
Take your awareness down to your neck and shoulders,
Asking any tension you find along the way to release and melt away.
Move your attention slowly down each arm,
Moving all the way down to the fingertips.
Notice the sensations under the fingertips.
Allow your awareness to move to the chest.
Relax the chest and upper back,
Allowing any tension you feel to float away.
Allow your awareness to move to the heart.
Imagine it beating strongly,
Letting you relax your heart and notice how good it feels.
Move to the lungs,
Feel them gently expand and soften with your breath,
Delivering fresh oxygen to your body.
Allow your focus to move through all of the vital organs.
Imagine them moving,
Working optimally.
Notice the belly and observe the digestive system working effortlessly.
Move to the lower back,
Feeling the surface that is supporting you.
Release any tension you may be feeling in the lower back.
Bring your awareness to the pelvis and hips.
Notice any sensations you are feeling.
Allow these sensations to take you into deeper relaxation and deeper healing.
Take your awareness down each leg.
Slowly allow the legs to relax.
Your legs have been taking you so many places.
Allow them to completely relax right now.
This wonderful wave of relaxation moves over the knees and down the lower legs,
All the way to the feet and to the top of each toe.
We are now going to take our focus back up the body.
As we move,
Imagine you are slowly pulling in your favorite color.
This color is a deeply healing substance.
Imagine your favorite color coming in through the toes and into the feet.
Moving up the legs,
Passing over the knees and into the pelvis and hips.
This beautiful color is filling up the digestive system and belly.
It is filling the vital organs and lungs.
This beneficial color is profoundly healing you as it moves through the body.
It glows as it fills the whole heart and you begin to notice how happy you are feeling.
The hue travels across the shoulders,
Down each arm,
All the way to the fingertips.
This invigorating color is moving up the neck,
Healing every part of the body as it moves.
It blankets the mouth,
Ears,
Nose and eyes.
It instantly fills every tiny space in the brain,
Encompassing the mind,
Healing it as well.
It moves all the way to the top of the head,
Enveloping you in a restorative,
Healing experience.
Slowly begin to feel yourself rise to the surface of awareness,
Noticing once again the rise and fall of breath without any effort on your part.
Feel the physical sensations of your body resting in stillness,
Feeling the healing energy all around and through you now.
When you feel the impulse,
Begin to bring gentle movement into your body as if awakening from a restful sleep.
As it feels right for you,
Bending into your knees,
Rolling onto either side into the fetal position with the eyes closed,
Allowing this healing energy to move with you now.
Using your arms,
Push yourself up to a seated position and when you get there,
Closing the eyes once again,
Allowing the palms to face up on the knees or thighs.
Noticing the body calm,
The mind clear and your spirit at peace.
Bringing your hands into heart center,
Bowing your head into your heart,
Giving gratitude to your body for all it allows you to do every day.
Gratitude to your mind for being able to come to a clear,
Present,
Focused state.
Gratitude to your spirit for always knowing how to return you to a peaceful place that resides within.
And we give gratitude to a higher source for the gift of this day.
