A gentle guided meditation, using breathwork to create space and relaxation. Leading to an energy reversal, a practice of sitting with your pain and noticing any emotions that may arise working to clear them out through further breath work, and inviting the opposing positive emotion to initiate deep healing.

Find yourself a comfortable position.

For this particular meditation I recommend lying down,

Perhaps with a pillow on your knees,

Getting into a position which you can completely let go.

Closing over your eyes now,

Taking a deep breath in and out.

Deep breath in and out.

One more deep breath in and out.

Feel your forehead relax,

Your jaw unclench and feel your shoulders not down your back away from your ears.

This meditation is going to focus on letting go of tension within the body,

Especially around a pain point.

We'll be breathing into the pain slots to invite space and relaxation.

This may feel a little counterintuitive at first.

So often with pain we restrict,

Push it away and want to be anywhere but within our bodies.

So be patient with yourself,

Hold no judgement and meet your body where you can today.

Taking another deep breath in and out.

Feel your body sinking into the support beneath you,

The back of your head relaxing into the pillow,

Your back supported,

Your knees and legs rolling out to the sides.

Becoming aware now of where the pain in your body is today.

Gently taking a breath into that space and letting it go on its side.

Taking another deep breath in and letting it go on its side.

One more deep breath in and letting it out on its side.

Now just sitting here with the pain,

Become aware of any emotions that may arise.

Pain is accompanied by a negative emotion.

For myself,

I've experienced pelvic pain for over 7 years and pelvic pain is largely linked to fear.

A practice that I do is energy reversal.

So what we're going to do today is breathe out that negative emotion and breathe in the opposing positive emotion.

For example,

The opposite of fear would be hope.

So I usually breathe out fear and breathe in hope.

Taking a deep breath in and out,

Clearing out that negative emotion and breathing in the positive.

Letting out the negative.

Breathing into that space of pain.

It may feel more intense and that's okay.

Keep going with it if you can.

Breathing in the positive emotion.

Breathing out the negative.

Breathing in the positive emotion.

Letting go of the negative.

Keep that going with a few more rounds of breath in your own time.

Breathing in the positive.

Taking a deep breath in and letting go.

Just letting your breath come back into its normal state.

Now I recommend doing this meditation a couple of times to really establish the emotions linked.

There can be more than one and today might have been a particular emotion.

If you do it tomorrow,

It may be another.

Emotions are simply energy in motion and energies can become stuck within the body.

In our vedas,

This is their primary cause of disease in the body.

So to meet the emotions,

To understand them and to offer it a positive can be so healing to the body.

This is just one side of pain.

There are so many that we can work through to initiate healing but I think energy plays a massive role in chronic pain.

So I invite you to when you notice your pain,

Sit with it for a moment and feel what emotions are coming up for you.

What is the pain telling you?

What messages is it sending you?

And how can you honor it in the best way that you can?

When we breathe into pain and create space,

Often the pain can subside to a certain degree.

Because when pain starts in the body,

Our immediate reaction is to tense.

If we let go,

How much does that pain subside?

How much of the pain is just our reaction to it?

Experiencing chronic pain,

A little bit of pain flares and we immediately go into fight or flight.

We are afraid of how bad it can or might get but so often it's just our body is conditioning to the pain.

If we teach ourselves to stop,

Breathe and think about what we are really experiencing in our body,

We can give it space to heal.

Taking one final breath in and letting that go.

Just noticing if pain within your body feels different at all.

Not judging,

Just becoming aware of any changes.

Inviting gentle movement back into your body.

Wiggling your toes and fingers.

Gently opening your eyes and becoming aware of your surroundings.

I hope you feel more connected to your body and that you've gained a little more understanding.

Happy healing.
