Hi,
I'm Denise,
Denise Burgess.
Welcome to this breathwork lesson.
Now I first came across breathwork in 1988.
I had been meditating for two years and I came across this idea of conscious connected breathing and I immediately thought,
Well this seems quicker to come into consciousness about things.
So I'd like us now to try the breath together and I'll teach to you for three breaths.
And this is very,
Very simple.
It's in and out through your nose or in and out through your mouth.
It's a deep,
Deep breath.
So the expansion of the abdomen,
The belly,
It goes up and then just lets go.
And up and let go.
So we sit in a relaxed position and on your deepest breath that you have gone into,
If you've ever climbed up a mountain or a steps or if you're an athlete,
Just push the breath in,
Either in and out through your nose or in and out through your mouth and feel the expansion of your belly.
And then relax the exhale and let it go.
And without a pause,
Breathe in again.
In and out of mouth or in and out of the nose.
That's it.
Relax the exhale,
Breathe in again straight away.
And just be very still and quiet,
Eyes closed and just feel the extra energy coming in.
This energy might be in the form of extra oxygen.
In ancient times it was called chi or prana.
In other nations,
They'll be having other words for it.
But it's more than just the oxygen.
The fullness is imperative that you have for this prana to come in,
The chi to come in with the oxygen.
And that's the difference.
But also as a letting go,
Very important.
And no pause between the inhale and the exhale and the exhale and the inhale.
Excellent.
That's it.
One more.
Doing it together like this will help as well.
So you can always do it with a partner.
And you build up your own rhythm and intend that it goes right through your body.
Awakening all your senses,
Physical,
Mental,
Emotional,
Spiritual.
Opening the pineal gland,
The pituitary gland,
Your consciousness.
Remembering.
That's what consciousness is about.
It's just remembering.
Unconsciousness is about forgetting.
Excellent.
Excellent.
So join me,
If you like,
In one of the meditations that we have on this series.
And that is the breath that we use for a good 10 minutes to half an hour or more.
Staying awake and relaxed.
Don't worry if you nod off.
Because you can start again.
Remember for how many years you have been on this planet,
When you've relaxed and closed your eyes,
You usually go off to sleep.
So I understand that.
But next time,
See if you can stay awake.
Relax.
No pauses.
And let that extra energy force come right through you.
To enlighten you.
Enjoy.
Enlighten love.
That's our gift.
