Hi,
My name is Carolyn Zeal.
Thank you so much for joining me to write and to meditate today.
Before I begin,
I wanted to share a little bit about my process during this pandemic.
It's been beyond crazy,
Right?
This is something we have never seen before in our lifetimes.
And I know for me,
It's been easy to feel triggered.
It's been harder to find ground and some sort of anchor to tether myself to.
And so I turn to my journal.
I turn to meditation.
It is my way to create routine,
Habit,
Something that I know serves me.
And that way I can show up and maybe serve others and support others.
So first I support myself and then I can support others.
And I use my writing and I use my meditation.
My journal is a place where I can write without judgment,
Release what no longer serves me,
What does not serve me in that moment.
Anger,
Fear,
Frustration,
Triggers.
And it's a judgment free zone and it's karma free.
I'm not hurting anybody.
I'm just putting it on those pages.
And if I need to,
I can shred those pages,
Burn those pages,
Rip them up.
It doesn't matter what I do with them.
The point is all those feelings,
Fears,
Triggers,
Anxieties are no longer in my body.
They're on the page.
Today I'd like to share my process with you,
Give you the opportunity to let go of what no longer serves you,
What does not serve you in this moment.
And replace it with something that will serve you,
That will support you.
So let's begin.
Settle into a comfortable seated position,
Your journal by your side and gently close your eyes.
And let's take a deep breath in through our nose,
Holding it at the top and just sigh it out.
And another deep breath in through your nose,
As deep as you can,
Holding it gently at the top and sighing it out.
And one more,
Even deeper,
Deep,
Deep,
Deep breath,
Filling your belly and your lungs,
Holding it at the top and sigh it out.
And gently just relax into your body,
Feel your body.
Witness your breath in this moment.
Don't try to change it.
Just notice.
Is your breath shallow,
Relaxed,
Deep?
Just notice your breath.
And notice how you are feeling in this moment.
Are there any thoughts running through your mind?
If so,
Don't try to change them.
Just notice them.
And what emotions are you feeling?
Don't judge them.
Just notice.
There is so much that we hold onto in our bodies.
Emotions,
Fears,
Anger,
Anxiety,
Stress,
Thoughts spinning around in our heads.
And for me,
The term let go,
Which is a lovely term,
Isn't quite strong enough for times like this.
I like to think of giving what no longer serves me to the universe,
Literally handing it over to the universe.
I'd like to invite you to turn toward your journal and write down what it is you would like to give to the universe.
What you want to give away to the universe.
What you would like the universe to take off your hands,
To take from your back,
To take from your achy joints and the stiffness in your hips or your neck.
The upset you might feel in your stomach,
A headache,
The thoughts that do not serve you in this moment,
The thoughts that scare you or worry you.
Turn toward your journal and answer this question.
What do I want to release today?
And without overthinking,
Just answer the question in your journal.
What do I want to release today?
I'll give you a moment or so to write.
What do I want to release today?
Let's take it a little bit deeper.
In your journal,
Write down this statement and then complete it.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Take a few moments and write.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
I invite you now to answer this question in your journal.
How do I want to feel today?
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Dear universe,
I am now releasing and giving you my.
Taking a few more moments and just finishing up whatever thoughts you want to complete.
Let's check in with your body.
Gently coming back to your body,
Closing your eyes,
Taking in a deep breath through your nose,
Holding it at the top and release.
Another deep breath in through your nose,
Holding it at the top and release.
One more deep breath in through your nose,
Filling your belly and your lungs,
Holding it at the top,
Sipping in a bit more air,
Sip,
Sip,
Sip and sigh it out.
Notice how do you feel in your body in this moment?
Do you feel differently than when you began this meditation?
Just notice there is no right or wrong answer to this question.
It's just something to notice.
When you feel complete,
I invite you to open your eyes and turn toward your journal and do a little more writing.
Don't try to write anything,
Just whatever bubbles up.
This is a practice that you can do every day,
No matter what is going on in the world.
This is a practice that will support you,
That will create ritual,
That will create ground underneath you.
Giving what no longer serves you,
What does not serve you in this moment,
To the universe.
Take it off your hands,
Release it to the universe and then take that space that you've created and bring in what it is you want to feel,
How you want to feel in your life and how you can support others in feeling the same.
It's a beautiful,
Beautiful practice and I'm so happy that you shared it with me today.
Thank you so much.
Wishing you much goodwill,
Good health,
Love and light.
Namaste.
