A short and powerful guided meditation establishing the practice of non-attachment. This meditation is particularly helpful to practice if you are prone to overthinking, anxiety and stress.

There is nothing complicated about this particular practice,

Just a simple recognition that it's actually quite easy and natural to simply disengage from thinking.

Just withdraw your attention away from the mind.

Regard all thoughts,

All thinking as unimportant,

Irrelevant,

Unhelpful,

And simply refuse to get involved in anything that the mind is currently suggesting.

The usual chatter of the mind,

The usual images,

Memories,

Predictions,

Just disregard all of this.

Bring your awareness instead to the sensations of breathing,

The sensations in the body,

And your sense perceptions that are continuing to run automatically without the mind being involved.

Just see if it's possible to simply be the observer,

The neutral witness of the present moment,

And don't let the mind get involved at all.

We are fully disengaged from the mind now.

Just not interested in anything the mind has to say,

Instead just immerse in reality.

What is the reality of this present moment?

When it's felt as a pure,

Raw experience,

Be open to everything that the senses are receiving,

But don't process any of this information.

Don't analyze anything,

Don't name anything,

Just be the pure awareness,

Impartial,

Neutral,

Ever accepting,

And continually withdraw attention from the mind,

No matter how loud it becomes,

No matter how tempting it might be to get involved in thoughts.

This is the time now to disengage from all of that thinking.

We've done enough thinking.

Taking this time to simply be aware of the truth of being in this moment.

There is no truth to be found in the mind.

The truth is already happening,

And it's happening now.

Just be open.

No analysis is required.

No interpretation is required.

There are no categories to place any element of your experience within.

Just be the observer,

A relaxed witness of experience.

There is no task or method.

There is no technique.

This is a simple recognition of your natural ability to notice that you are the awareness of experience,

And you can choose to simply not get involved.

Watching experience flow by,

Ever-changing,

Temporary,

Ephemeral,

Illusory.

Do not get involved in any of these changing forms.

The shifting collage of experience.

Just witness from a distance.

Notice that without your attention,

The mind has lost some of its power.

It's no longer as loud.

It's no longer a threat.

By remaining immersed in this pure,

Detached awareness,

The mind has no choice but to settle down,

And eventually fall silent.

If there is still some agitation or restlessness in the body,

Just be aware of this too,

And do not analyze this.

Do not try to change it.

Just notice this.

No matter what you are aware of,

You can always simply immerse in the disengaged,

Detached nature of pure consciousness.

So,

All is well.

In a moment,

We will be leaving the formal aspect of this meditation,

Although you may wish to sit a while longer immersed in these principles.

Either way,

Thank you for doing this meditation with me today.

Take care,

Be well,

And stay present.
