The art of surrendering is perhaps the one lesson I love the most out of all the lessons along the spiritual path. And yet, at the same time, the one I think is the hardest to learn. Surrendering is about releasing and letting go of attachments, of trying to control, of trying to figure anything out but simply go with the flow of Spirit that Spirit may have its way with us. That we may forever allow for greater and grander expressions of who and what we are to emerge, with ease and grace.

Hello and welcome to the Path to Freedom podcast.

A weekly podcast with the intention to inspire,

Empower and uplift us all to develop a healing consciousness that we,

That is you and me,

May forever allow for greater and grander versions and expressions of who and what we are to emerge with ease,

Grace and spiritual dignity.

My name is Daniel Roquio and I am your host.

Hello,

Blessings everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Path to Freedom podcast.

A weekly podcast about healing,

About love,

About unfolding,

About expansion,

About allowing for greater and grander expressions of who and what we are to emerge,

Help,

Peace,

Harmony.

My name is Daniel Roquio and I'm the host of this podcast.

And so if you are returning,

I welcome you.

I'm grateful for your presence and I'm grateful that you've chosen to join me once again.

If this is the first time you tune in,

I welcome you and I'm grateful for your presence and I'm grateful that you have chosen to join me in the co-creation of a high vibration field.

So the topic for today just came to me as I was in a brief meditation just now asking Spirit what the topic for this episode was going to be.

What I caught was that the topic is going to be surrender,

Surrender,

Surrender.

And this frankly,

I'm a little bit surprised because we've done a lot of episodes on surrendering and just a couple of weeks ago,

I believe we had the episode called,

It's not for us to try to figure anything out.

But apparently Spirit has more to say and so we'll go with the flow.

When Spirit speaks or whenever I catch Spirit's guidance,

I follow it without questioning it,

Without trying to second guess it.

I just go with the flow.

So that's the topic for today or for this week,

For this episode.

Surrender,

Surrender,

Surrender.

As always though,

That felt good to take that deep breath,

Allowing me to come back to the nowness of this moment.

And that's exactly what we're going to do right now.

We're going to take a moment,

Come back to the nowness of this moment,

Anchor ourselves,

Ground ourselves in this moment.

Connecting,

Communing with God,

With the peace,

With the joy,

With the harmony,

With the wholeness,

The love and the beauty that is in this moment,

That is this moment.

And so I invite you to make yourself comfortable.

I invite you to gently tap in between your eyebrows,

Activating that first eye that we may catch,

That which cannot be caught by our human senses.

So we gently tap.

And I invite you to place your hands in your lap,

Having your thumb and middle finger touch,

As a sign of receptivity,

Of being open and available.

I invite you to put a smile on your face,

Even if you don't feel like smiling,

Smile anyway.

Letting our bodies know that all is well,

That they may begin to produce and increase their production of the oxytocin and the serotonin,

These feel-good hormones,

These health-whole hormones in the body.

As always,

I invite us to remind ourselves that this is the very first time that we're sitting to meditate.

Each and every single moment is a fresh start,

As an opportunity to begin again.

And so as we enter into this meditation,

We do so realizing that we have never existed before,

That this particular expression and version of who and what we are has never meditated before,

Even if we just sat 10 minutes ago.

The we that are sitting now are not the same as 10 minutes ago.

So this is the first time.

And also,

Before we move into the meditation,

We want to have a high intention for sitting,

For moving into the meditation.

And my intention is always to wake up to who and what spirit is and realize my absolute oneness with it.

That's why I'm meditating.

I invite you to take a couple of deep breaths as we turn within,

As we turn our attention toward our breath,

Allowing each breath to move us deeper and deeper and deeper into the nowness of this moment.

Feeling our bodies relaxing with each breath.

And so you can either keep your attention on your breath,

Or you can place your attention on that spot,

That first eye.

Either way,

Extricate yourself from external conditions and circumstances.

And let us all to release and let go of anything that we may have brought with us into this moment,

That we may step fully into this moment.

And with that guided breath,

We begin to be still,

Silent.

And let us all to release and let go of anything that we may have brought with us into this moment.

And whenever we catch ourselves drifting away from our breathing or from that first eye,

We gently and lovingly turn our attention back and we begin again.

And as we move deeper into the meditation,

Chances are that thought forms will arise,

Memories will arise,

Pain or some kind of fidgeting in the body may arise.

And I invite us to take this opportunity to simply observe whatever arises,

Whatever happens.

We need not get involved with it,

We need not do anything with it,

But we simply observe it.

We may come into the awareness that we are not our thoughts,

We are not our emotions,

We are not the body.

We are the consciousness that is observing the thoughts,

The emotions,

The body.

They have come into our experience.

So we simply observe,

Embrace and allow it.

Keeping our attention on the breath.

OK?

Keeping our attention on her breath.

Keeping our attention on her breath.

And in a brief moment,

I will move us into prayer and I invite you to remain just as you are.

Still awake,

Aware,

Alert,

Open,

Available,

Receptive to catch the vibration and the energy of the prayer.

And so in this moment,

This glorious moment,

This blessed moment,

How grateful I am,

How grateful I am for this moment.

For the peace that is in this moment,

For the love that is in this moment,

For the harmony that is in this moment.

The wholeness,

The abundance,

The beauty,

The intelligence,

Creativity.

And I'm grateful for the presence of Spirit that is expressing itself fully and freely in this moment.

And I'm grateful for you and for your participation that you've chosen to join me.

You've chosen to participate and co-create this loving field that stretches beyond time,

Beyond space.

I'm grateful for the yes that you have said at some point.

At some point you said yes.

You said yes to expansion,

To unfolding,

To spiritual awakening.

And I'm grateful for that initial yes and I'm grateful for your continuous yes.

That you continue to say yes.

That you continue to move deeper and higher and wider.

That you continue to love for greater and grander expressions of who and what you are to emerge.

That you continue to seek to move through challenges,

Not avoid challenges.

Not go around challenges,

But to move and grow through them.

I'm grateful for your courage and for your bravery.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

I'm grateful for this podcast,

For this episode and the technology that allows us to connect and commune and create and co-create this podcast,

This field.

I'm grateful for that still small voice that guided me and that keeps guiding me.

But that guided me to start this podcast,

To create this podcast.

It's brought me so much joy and satisfaction.

Thank you.

And from this space of gratitude,

I know and feel the allness,

The goodness and the eternality of Spirit.

I know and feel that God is everywhere,

Fully present in every space and place.

That God is both the Creator and the creation.

Expressing itself in a unique and magnificent and powerful way.

In every single being,

In every single object.

And in every single space in between beings and object.

There God is,

Fully expressing itself.

Which means that right where you and I are,

Right where we are,

The fullness of God is.

We are God.

God is,

We are.

We are one with the one,

One with the whole,

One with the Spirit.

Which means that right where we are,

We're eternally sourced,

Fueled and funded.

Always and forever sustained and maintained.

Guided and moved and led.

That we may allow for greater and greater and greater expressions to emerge in the East in grace.

We have in this moment,

If we,

As we surrender to this moment,

As we surrender to the goodness,

As we surrender to the abundance.

Everything is freely given to us.

Something wonderful is happening in this moment,

In every moment.

I know it and I feel it.

Everything is working for our good.

Individually and collectively in every single moment.

I know it and I feel it.

I know it and I feel it.

I feel it.

I feel it.

I feel it.

All true is well.

Right where we are.

All is well.

I let it be so shall it be and so be it.

Amen.

And I invite you to come back to this moment.

And to this exciting topic,

At least for me,

This exciting topic of surrendering.

I love that practice,

The art and practice of surrendering.

I absolutely love it.

Whenever I move into prayer,

Except for this one,

Not always when I'm in this podcast or when I'm recording these podcasts,

But when I'm moving into prayer for me,

My own secret prayers,

What always comes up in the gratitude step is that I'm grateful for my willingness to surrender,

For my willingness to say thy will be done.

Because that is my intention to fully get out of the way,

To fully surrender and let God have its way with me.

And the funny thing is that the more I surrender,

The more I give up my sense of personal power,

Sense of personal ability,

Sense of self responsibility when it comes to demonstration and manifestation.

The more I give it up,

The more ease and grace flows into my life,

Flows into that which is always happening,

Into the creative process.

So for those of you who have perhaps followed this podcast for some time,

Perhaps you remember that we've talked about surrendering before.

But for those of you who have not tuned in before,

When we're talking about surrendering,

We are not talking about acquiescing.

We are not talking about giving up.

It is not waving the white flag,

Submitting,

Laying down flat on the floor,

Tapping out.

That's not it at all.

That's not what surrender is about,

At least not from the spiritual standpoint.

But when we talk about surrendering in spirituality,

We're talking about us releasing and letting go of the egoic sense that we need to make something happen,

The egoic sense that we know what is best,

What course of action we should take,

What path is the best for us,

What outcome is the best for us.

These are all egoic structures that we think we know anything in and by ourselves.

So that's what we're giving up when we surrender.

Surrender is realizing that there is only one power and that this power,

Call it God,

Call it love,

Call it universe,

Call it infinite intelligence,

Call it spirit,

Call it,

I'm trying to,

In the metaphysical,

They call it the unified field.

Call it what you want.

Jawa,

Allah,

Whatever.

Surrendering means that we realize that this power that is infinite,

Having no beginning,

Having no end,

Was never born,

Will never die,

Has always existed eternal,

That this is the only power,

Omnipotent.

There is no contestant power,

There is no opposite power,

That this power knows all there is to know,

Omniscient.

There is nothing that God doesn't know.

But everything,

God is the sole source of everything,

Both the Creator and the creation.

And so everything emerges out of the mind of spirit.

Everything emerges out of the mind of spirit.

So spirit knows everything.

And surrendering means that we get out of the way,

That we learn gradually,

Incrementally,

Sometimes very suddenly,

But we learn to lean into that.

We learn to trust spirit,

We learn to trust that spirit knows the best course of action,

The highest outcome,

The perfect path for each of us.

That is what surrendering is all about.

It doesn't mean,

Or,

And as we learn to surrender,

As we learn to surrender,

And as we learn,

Because with surrendering comes an increased ability to catch guidance.

The more we give up our personal sense of knowing what's best,

The more we turn within and seek to be guided along the path,

The more we learn to catch that still small voice,

That intuition,

That inner guidance.

Whatever guides us in a language and in a way that we can understand,

Whether it may be through sounds or visions or images or feeling or an inner knowing.

Or for some it's even kinesthetic.

They have a physical sensation.

Some see colors and God knows,

Only God knows,

The infinite ways that which God guides and leads us.

And it's always done in a way that we can all understand,

That we as unique individuals can understand,

That we can catch.

And we learn to catch it,

We learn to trust it,

We learn to obey it.

And that guidance comes realizing that it is God speaking to and through us when we move into surrendering.

There is no questioning.

Just like what happened only moments before I started recording this episode.

As always,

I always have a topic for each recording session.

But as I just before I pressed the recording button asked Spirit if there was a new,

What the topic was to be for this episode.

And Spirit told me to use the topic surrender,

Surrender,

Surrender,

Which was not at all the topic that I had planned.

But I trust Spirit so implicitly I've learned this is coming gradually over the course of a number of years.

It didn't just happen.

It didn't just happen,

But I'm gradually,

Very intentionally,

But gradually I have learned to discern Spirit,

The voice of Spirit,

This inner guidance from the voice of the ego.

And so whenever I catch that guidance,

I catch it and I obey,

Fully knowing and trusting from experience,

From my own personal experience,

That I can never go wrong when I catch this inner guidance,

Never.

Granted,

It has taken me along paths that I never would have thought of taking.

I made turns,

I made choices and decisions that I never would have thought of making had I not caught it within.

So I've gone places and I've done things that was not,

That was not my plan,

But each and every single time as everything is working for our good,

As something wonderful is always happening.

Each and every single time,

Something beautiful came out of it.

A number of weeks ago,

For some reason I was guided to,

As we didn't exercise,

I believe it was in a session or in an episode,

We didn't exercise where we were to call to mind a situation or condition or some point in time where we had made a mistake or something to that effect.

And I could not come up with,

I could not remember,

I could not even remember time where I made a mistake,

Because what I've realized is that there are no mistakes.

There are steps that are not perhaps in alignment with what I think should or should not be.

But there are no mistakes.

There are only learning opportunities.

This is like an earth school.

We're here to learn.

And in each and every single moment we get to learn.

We get to learn.

As we surrender to,

And this is another aspect of the word surrendering or the art and practice of surrendering,

Because we've all come here,

We've all chosen to come here to,

As I have come to express it,

To allow for greater and grander expressions of who and what we are to emerge.

The will of spirit,

The sole purpose of all of creation,

Is for spirit to forever become more of itself.

For spirit to forever grow,

Not grow,

Unfold and expand in its expression.

Spirit always is the same yesterday,

Today,

And forever.

So spirit doesn't change itself,

But it allows for greater expression of that is-ness.

And that is the sole purpose of life.

So the will of God,

The will of spirit is for all of life to forever come into greater and grander expressions of who we are.

So that we need to surrender to as well.

Not only surrender to the inner guidance,

Not only surrender to not attaching ourselves to a particular outcome or end result,

But we need to surrender also to the fact that we are here.

Not to stay the same,

Not to copy anyone else,

Not to do what anyone else has done,

But to allow our own uniqueness to come forth,

To shine forth,

To express itself.

Each and every single being is unique and perfect emanation of spirit.

We're all unique,

We're all perfect,

We're all emanations of God.

And we're here to allow that uniqueness and that perfection to shine and radiate and emerge from within us.

And this is a surrendering,

This is an aspect of surrendering.

And this is something that we need to,

We don't need to,

But once we begin walking this path,

We eventually bump into the realization that we need to embrace and allow changes.

We need to become willing to change.

I remember it was,

I don't know,

15 years ago probably.

Or 20 years ago.

My God,

Time moves past so quickly.

Anyway,

I remember the first time,

The very first time I consciously went into a process of growth.

I was living with my girlfriend at the time and she had helped me realize that there were things that I needed to change about myself.

If her joint adventure were to continue,

If we would stay together.

And I vividly remember we were sitting in her kitchen,

Or actually I was sitting on a chair in her kitchen.

She was standing to the left of me.

And I asked her,

What if I don't like the me that will emerge from this?

What if I don't,

What if I lose some of the qualities that I really cherish about myself,

That I really appreciate about myself?

And I don't quite remember her answer or her response,

But it was something along the lines that we can never,

Whenever we consciously move into a process of change,

The bad stuff falls away.

She didn't express it that way,

I know,

But that was the essence of what she says.

And this is what this spiritual path is all about.

I think we've talked about this before,

That all of this growth,

All of this expansion,

Even though we call it expansion,

In reality,

Well,

It is expansion,

But it's not.

All of this expansion comes about because we release and let go of something.

100% of this spiritual growth is about releasing and letting go of something.

And that something is always the small and the limited thought patterns,

Habits,

Perceptions,

Point of views,

And so forth.

And so in this moment,

Let's have a little exercise,

Let's do a little exercise,

An exercise not in judgment,

But an exercise in awareness.

And so I invite us all to close our eyes and turn our attention within to that inner guidance.

I invite us to make ourselves open and available,

Receptive to catch that inner guidance.

And then generally ask ourselves if there's some area where we need to surrender,

Where we can increase our surrender.

Is there any area in our lives that we're holding on to perhaps an attachment to an outcome,

Perhaps an attachment to how something is to manifest or demonstrate itself?

Perhaps resistance,

Resistance towards growth,

Towards expansion,

Towards change,

Resistance towards releasing and letting go of control.

So the question would be,

How can we increase,

How can I increase my surrender,

The level of my surrender?

Become still,

We listen,

We catch.

Perhaps we need to let go of impatience,

Frustration,

Thoughts as to what should and should not be.

And listen and we catch.

I invite you to,

If you have a piece of paper and a pen near at hand,

I invite you to write down any insights,

Write down what you caught.

And as always when it comes to catching insights and catching this guidance,

We always want to give it permission to move us into change,

To move us into transformation,

To move us into expansion,

That whenever we catch an insight that we don't let it just pass us by,

But that we actually give it permission to do something with us.

Because this guidance,

It is coming from our soul,

It is coming from spirit,

It is spirit telling us something that is important as for us taking the next step in our growth and unfolding and expansion.

And so we want to honor these insights,

We want to cherish them,

We want to celebrate them.

And above all,

We want them to change us in some way,

Shape or form.

They are gifts and blessings from God to us.

So we don't want to throw them away.

Spirit is telling me to repeat this exercise for some reason.

So let's close our eyes,

Let's close our eyes again,

Turn within and ask one more time,

How can I increase my surrendering?

How can I release and let go of control,

Of trying to make things happen?

Let's be silent and listen.

I absolutely love the art and the practice of surrendering.

It's one of the hardest,

At least for me,

It's been one of the hardest and most difficult lessons to learn.

And I'm still learning it.

I'm still moving through releasing and letting go of controlling and releasing and letting go of trying to figure out how things are going to work out or when they're going to work out or where they're going to work out.

I'm still trying to release and let go of outcomes of my thoughts as to what should and should not be.

So I'm right smack in the midst of learning this lesson,

But I love it.

I love meditation,

I love prayer.

I love studying.

I love all these things,

All these practices.

But there's something with surrendering.

It's more of a hands on practice.

Meditation,

Stabilizing that and increasing my,

Expanding my meditation practice.

I set aside time to meditate,

At least I'm in my car meditating,

But in prayer,

It's more of a stable practice,

But surrendering,

It's moment to moment.

In each moment,

I get to observe and become aware of where I am,

Where my attention is,

What thoughts are flowing and streaming through my consciousness.

And so moment to moment,

I get to come back to surrendering.

I get to come back to surrendering.

I get to come back to surrendering using this principle that my go to principle that always was a piece,

Piece,

Piece.

That's probably the main tool I am using to deepen my surrendering,

Because whenever I catch myself stretching into time,

Into the future and then trying to plan the future or control the future or figure the future out,

I come back to all is well,

Piece,

Piece,

Which reminds me that there's nothing I need to do but be.

I cannot control anything.

It's not my job to control anything.

It's not my,

It's not my business.

It's not even of my business.

It's none of my business how things are going to work out,

How things are going to turn out.

But my business is to keep the channel between me and God,

The connection between me and Spirit as open,

As clear as possible,

Which means coming back to this moment,

Coming back to this moment,

The nowness of this moment.

It is in this moment when I'm centered,

When I'm anchored,

When I'm grounded in the nowness of this moment,

That's when I'm at the highest level of surrendering.

And then I move into time and the level of surrender decreases.

And then I come back and it increases.

So I go back and forth,

But more and more and more.

I live my life from this moment.

And more and more and more.

My life unfolds with such ease and grace and it's not my doing.

It is not.

I'm not making it happen,

But I'm participating in that which is happening.

And this is surrendering in practice,

Where we learn to participate,

Not trying to make it happen,

Not trying to force anything,

But participate consciously,

Actively.

Participating in that which is happening,

Knowing and feeling that God has got our back,

That we're forever sourced,

Fueled and funded.

It's truly a sublative path that we're on,

This path of awakening,

Path of unfolding,

This spiritual path.

It is beautiful.

And I'm grateful for it.

The time has come for me to bless us out.

So once again I invite you to close your eyes.

Expand your mind.

Make yourself open and available.

Release and let go of any thoughts,

Emotions.

And so in this moment,

In this moment,

How grateful I am.

How grateful I am for Spirit,

For the presence of Spirit.

How grateful I am for Spirit's guidance.

That Spirit eternally,

Forever guides and leads me,

Moves me.

And how grateful I am for our willingness to surrender.

Once again,

For that yes,

For the yes that we have said to lead this life,

To walk this path.

Releasing and letting go of time or the future.

Coming back to this moment,

Allowing Spirit to guide and lead us.

How grateful I am for our willingness to do so.

And I know that in this moment,

As we come back to this moment,

Something wonderful is happening.

We are now open,

Available and surrendered to Spirit.

That Spirit may come flow through us.

Spirit may flow in as us and as us.

We are releasing and letting go of fear,

Worry and doubt.

Trusting,

Knowing,

Feeling that we are eternally sourced,

Fueled and funded,

Sustained and maintained.

Not by Spirit,

But because we are Spirit.

Spirit cannot contradict itself,

It cannot go against itself,

It cannot diminish itself.

Spirit is always for all of creation.

Always for all of creation.

And so in this moment,

Something wonderful is happening.

Expansion has taken place.

Healing has taken place.

Wholeness has taken place.

We are moving into the realm of peace that passes human understanding.

Extricating ourselves from external circumstances,

Conditions.

Coming back to this moment,

Knowing and feeling that all is well.

That we are lovingly embraced and cradled by God,

By Spirit.

From this moment on,

Our lives unfold with such ease and such grace.

Because we have released and let go of that which no longer serves us.

I know that this is so.

I feel that this is so.

And I know that in the mind of God it's already done.

It was done from the beginning of time,

It was done from before time.

And through our surrendering and through our gratitude,

We are now allowing that doneness to demonstrate itself in our lives.

Such easy grace.

For this I give thanks.

I'm grateful for it.

I know it to be.

So it isn't so,

Shall it be.

Amen.

Amen.

Thank you for tuning in.

Whenever,

Wherever you tuned in.

Until the next time,

I bless your day and I bless,

Bless,

Bless,

Bless,

Bless,

Bless,

Bless your way.

Namaste.

Thank you for tuning in.

Thank you.
