One Minute Of Proust: Albertine
by David Howard
The narrator of "In Search of Lost Time" meets and falls in love with Albertine, and, over many years in the novel, becomes obsessive and compulsively jealous with her. She is a central figure in the story, around whom the themes of memory, identity and the nature of human relationships are woven. Jacqueline Rose wrote a book called "Albertine," re-telling Proust's story of Albertine from her point of view.
