In this meditation, we're not going to do anything. Yes - you read that right - nothing. This practice is for you if you are just feeling over it, tired, and overwhelmed with all the things you need to do. You don't want to 'do' another thing - meditate. So in this practice, we allow for the opposite! A space to let yourself not need to do anything. It's surprisingly healing. Enjoy!

This is a do-nothing meditation.

Yes,

You heard that right.

In this meditation,

We're not going to do anything.

This is for you if you're just over it.

If you're tired.

If you've done so much already,

There's so much more to do and you don't want to feel like your meditation practice is another thing to do,

This is it for you.

What I'll help you do in this track is to remind you to do nothing.

To not think ahead,

Not breathe a little harder or deeper,

Not try to clear your mind.

I won't guide you through anything like that.

I'll guide you to just be you right now as you are and that's actually so healing.

When we're overloaded or at capacity with things mentally and physically with our jobs and our families,

Etc.

Here's a time for you to not have to do anything.

If you're not already,

I welcome you to close your eyes,

Do a couple sighs to release any pent up stuff.

I always like to start these meditations off by just flopping super dramatically onto the ground,

Onto the couch,

In preparation of doing absolutely nothing.

So I invite you to,

In your own way,

Dramatically or not dramatically,

Mark the start,

Probably the only time today,

Where you get to do nothing.

And you may start to feel this already,

A sense of your nerves starting to retreat or calm down,

Like that feeling after a really hard workout and you're just laying on the ground and you just feel everything coming back to you and you just feel yourself recovering in so many ways.

Our lives out in the world is like,

Or it can be like,

One long hard workout.

And right now,

For these couple moments,

We're not beholden to anything,

Anyone,

And we can allow the natural healing powers of life to take over.

And even though doing nothing sounds easy,

It can actually feel almost painful in some ways,

Because you're finally stepping away from all of that,

Whatever that is.

And for the first time in a while,

You're tuning in to yourself and what your body needs and any unprocessed emotions and attending to any thoughts that finally have a chance to come up and be heard.

And all of that can be tense,

There can be some tension there.

It's like changing of the gears.

It can be a little crunchy.

This crunchiness,

You don't need to do anything about it.

It will naturally work its way through you.

The body and the nervous system is so wise,

And it automatically takes over when we step back and allow ourselves to not do anything.

And just because this is a doing nothing practice doesn't mean you need to push away or shelve anything that comes up.

No,

On the contrary,

This is a wonderful time to sit back and allow whatever wants to come up,

Whatever wants to speak to you,

Whatever wants to move through you to do so.

And allowing ourselves to do nothing.

It's as if your practice is practicing you.

The practice is moving through you.

You don't need to do the practice.

This is the magic of the do nothing meditation.

It can actually be a portal into melting back,

Relaxing into the greater forces of life,

Where you know and feel on a deep level that you are woven into the greater fabric of life,

That you are in communion with greater aspects of life,

And that life moves through you and it can move through you in many fun,

Surprising,

Beautiful ways.

Beginning now to transition out of doing nothing,

Gently preparing yourself to enter back into the world,

And you can feel how your body,

In all its wisdom,

Is gearing itself back up into transitioning out of practice.

When you're ready,

Opening your eyes,

Stepping into the world through vision,

Through touch,

Touch of your body,

Touch of your seat below you.

When you're ready,

Moving back into your day.
