Music No,

You don't need your mind to understand.

There's a knower that knows that you had deep sleep.

If the mind would have been present there,

The mind would even tell you that,

Oh,

I had four hours of deep sleep,

Two hours of dreaming and waking in the middle,

Going to the bathroom,

Doing other things.

No,

But you don't know that when you wake up,

You don't know that.

You don't know how many hours you spent in the deep sleep state.

You don't need the mind to tell you that you had the rest.

For example,

If you were an animal,

You would still feel rested.

Do you understand sensation when I say sensation is in the body?

Yes.

So you experience it in the body.

You feel things in the body.

In fact,

Even strong emotions in the mind have a connection to the body.

If you have anger,

You can feel it in the body.

If you are rested,

You can feel it in the body.

You don't need the mind to tell you that.

Tell me that I get that,

That I feel so rested.

I get that.

But I want to know,

I want to experience the deep sleep state.

How do I experience it?

You cannot experience it because of the limitation of the mind and the intellect.

We cannot experience it.

It is not possible.

That is the time when the mind and the intellect and the ego and the memory shut off.

They are so tired.

It's said that science says that we have about 16,

000 thoughts in one day in our waking day.

Okay.

So it was you woke up at 7 a.

M.

And you slept at 10 p.

M.

In the night from 7 a.

M.

To 10 p.

M.

You had 16,

000 thoughts.

The mind is exhausted.

It needs a shutdown time.

Just like your computer needs a shutdown time.

So it's a shutdown of the mind.

It needs to shut down.

That's what happens in the deep sleep state.

It's a complete shutdown.

You are saying I want to experience shutdown.

It's like computer saying I want to experience shutdown.

It's not possible.

It is the limitation of that computer.

It cannot experience the shutdown.

It will never know how long I had shut down the computer and when did I start it again.

Similarly,

Our mind and intellect are nothing but computer programs.

Yes.

And these computer programs know only to their particular limitation.

Beyond that limitation,

It is not possible.

You can only experience the effects of the knower.

You can never really see the knower.

So is that why that reflection thingy comes up?

Because I had a question on that also.

Yes.

When I close my eyes and meditate like you were talking about the subject object meditation,

I got to that level where I could experience that silence for a few minutes or so.

It was phenomenal.

But again,

For me to know that I am there,

That I am alive,

My mind has to tell me like how it comes out and tells me yes,

I felt that.

I felt that.

So mind can only taste it.

The mind cannot express it in words.

That's why so many scriptures still fall short of explaining the Brahman.

They just cannot explain.

Beyond the point,

It is inexpressible.

Why?

Because beyond the point,

It is not possible for the mind to understand it,

To grasp it,

To see it.

We have a limitation.

I'll explain this to you scientifically.

Bats with the echo of the sound,

They can figure out a three-dimensional world.

This is called echolocation.

They use echolocation to figure out the three-dimensional world and they can fly so fast and yet not hit into a wall.

They create their universe with how much ever senses are given to them.

Got it?

Yeah.

A mole,

A mole can has only touch.

That's it.

It touches,

Touches,

Touches,

And it creates its three-dimensional world.

It creates its more,

More here.

You must have seen the mole here.

So it has only that sense.

Similarly,

We have a limitation with this eye.

I can only see shape and color.

Look around your room.

Can you see anything other than shape and color?

No.

Yeah.

That's right.

Yeah.

Shape,

Colors,

What else?

Dimension like,

Yeah,

That is shape actually.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So it is shape.

You can only see shape and color.

There is no third ability given to the eye.

Similarly,

Through the ear,

We have only one ability,

Sound.

So this is received by the brain,

The shape,

The color and the sound and this goes to the brain.

The mind processes this information and tells you it is Ekta speaking to you on that computer screen.

You know from the sound,

You know from the shape and you know from the color.

Do you get it?

So we work only in the limitation that we have been gifted with.

And we cannot,

How much ever we try,

We cannot go beyond this.

A bat will never be able to see Ekta's wearing red color.

Not possible.

Yes.

A mole will never be able to hear Ekta.

Is this clear?

So similarly,

Our mind,

Our intellect has a particular limitation and it can work only in that limitation.

So we cannot go outside this limitation and see when this mind is shut down.

Deep sleep state is the shut down state of this mind.

In that state,

These shapes,

Forms,

Colors,

Sound,

Taste,

Touch,

Everything is shut down.

Everything.

And obviously the thought of it is also shut down.

There is no seventh ability I have.

I have only these.

Yes.

So it is not possible for me to know this state,

But I give a glimpse of that silence because the newer is not only there in the deep sleep state,

It is also there in the dreaming state and also in the waking state.

So you can sense the lower,

But you cannot see the lower.

Be very clear.

Yeah.

And as we would have turned inside and seen,

But we can't see,

We can just experience the consciousness.

We can experience we are alive.

Yes.

When a body dies,

There is no life in it.

Yes.

So I look at that and I look at myself and I know,

Yes,

This is conscious.

If I poke a pin,

I will feel it.

So this is conscious,

But if I poke a pin in that corpse,

It will not feel it.

So it is not conscious.

So I know that an attribute has been given to the body.

It does not belong to the body.

Yes.

It's borrowed.

Means it's temporary.

It was there for some time here and then suddenly it's gone.

When whatever the age is over,

The person dies.

So it's a temporary borrowed attribute of consciousness or life or light,

Whatever you want to call it.

Yes.

That is reflected consciousness.

Advaita says,

But come to your highest potential.

You can sense it.

You can feel the effects of the lower.

You can just rest there.

Be the lower knowingly.

It's not that we were never the lower before this,

However old,

30,

40 years.

So many years of your life,

The lower was there.

Yes,

But ignored nor.

Now I am aware of this more.

Yes.

Knowingly being the lower helps me at least experience the effects of the pure consciousness.

It's like sun's light is shining.

I don't experience the sun directly.

I experience the sun's rays.

Just like that,

I am experiencing the reflected consciousness.

That reflected consciousness itself is this conscious feeling.

Oh,

Okay.

Which is giving you this feeling of being alive.

Okay.

But why is it not the earlier one?

Because I am in that field,

Right?

I shouldn't be part of it,

Right?

Why is it reflected?

It's the same thing.

Is the sun light different from the sun?

It is.

It is the sun.

It is not different from the sun.

You are saying,

Oh,

My toe,

Which is so far away from my body,

I'm six feet tall.

So my toe is so far away.

So that is not a part of me.

No,

It is a part of you.

You get it.

It is just that our perception,

The limitation of how we are perceiving it.

It is a part of you.

It is you.

There is no parts here.

Yes.

So similarly,

You are pure consciousness.

You are Brahman,

But you don't experience or see Brahman directly.

You can experience the effects of Brahman by the sense of consciousness that you have.
