When most people think of meditation,
They may feel overwhelmed because they either don't know where to start or they just don't think they can quiet their mind enough to do it.
The thing that stops most people from actually meditating daily is the judgments they have about how meditation should look or feel like.
Today I want to share three important foundations that can help your meditation experience be more enjoyable,
Helpful and easy.
Then I'll show you a simple and super fun meditation technique that will help you incorporate meditation into your regular routine daily.
So foundation one to meditation is being able to understand the importance and benefits of actually meditating because when the mind really understands the benefits then it's more inclined to make it part of our daily practice.
Then we can kind of check in with ourselves and see if those benefits are worth it to us.
If they are awesome.
If they're not awesome.
There's no good or bad.
It is what it is and we want to be able to just get clear on if those benefits are worth it to us.
So here are some of the benefits of meditating regularly.
It reduces stress.
It makes us less reactive.
It promotes emotional health.
It enhances self-awareness.
It lengthens attention span.
It reduces memory loss.
It awakens a feeling of well-being and joy.
It helps us let go of unhealthy habits.
It helps us improve sleep.
It increases creativity and enhances imagination and helps us be at peace with ourselves and the world.
So this is foundation one.
It's all about understanding the benefits and recognizing if those benefits are worth it to us.
So foundation two is about letting go of the belief that meditation should look or be a certain way.
This is where most people get caught up.
Even if we only meditate for 30 seconds each day,
Over time,
We will see extraordinary results.
We don't have to meditate for hours,
Although it can if it feels good to us,
But we don't have to do it in order to be great meditators.
The most important thing to meditation is being consistent,
Introducing it as a new habit into our daily life.
So that's foundation two,
Letting go of the belief that meditation should look a certain way and really allow it to just be exactly what it needs to be for us.
The third foundation to meditation is understanding what meditation is because this will help our mind be more inclined to embrace it.
When the mind understands and knows something well and it also feels safe and comfortable knowing it,
It will be much more open to embracing it.
So what is meditation?
Meditation is just another way of saying creating space.
So why do we want to create space and what are we actually creating space from?
In our current society,
We are conditioned to always be on the go and keep things moving.
This often is called the destination addiction and often leaves us feeling constantly disappointed or unfulfilled because we're always looking for the next thing to fill a void.
So meditation helps us shift out of this hamster wheel approach to life by creating space between our thoughts,
Between our beliefs,
Our actions and our behaviors.
It's this space in between our thoughts and all things where our true and authentic self resides.
It's the part of us that is creative,
At peace,
Happy,
Empowered,
Whole,
In love,
Prosperous and all of the beautiful things that we know that we desire to experience more of.
Those are all in that space.
They are the true authentic self.
That's why it feels expansive when we are in joy,
When we are in love because that is a reflection of who we really are.
And so the amazing thing about meditation is that it helps us connect with this part of ourselves.
It helps us connect with that most joyful,
Peaceful,
Empowered,
Whole,
Loving,
Prosperous aspect of ourselves.
So imagine what life will look like for us when we make choices and decisions from this space,
This empowered space.
How will we move through life?
What will life look like?
Isn't it amazing just to contemplate?
Well,
My friend,
It's so possible for you and I'm going to show you a very simple meditation so you can start moving in this direction.
So I invite you to go ahead and close your eyes and just take a nice deep full breath in,
Just breathing in that oxygen,
Life force energy.
And as you exhale,
Feel yourself relaxing in the chair,
The couch,
The bed or the floor that you're sitting on.
Just let yourself fully relax and let that object support you and lift you up.
Let's take another deep breath in.
And this time just feeling yourself relaxing even more,
Allowing that object to lift you up to support you.
Good.
And let's take one more deep full breath in and release.
So now with your eyes closed,
We're going to start counting to four.
We're going to start with one and then two.
And then before you get to three,
I just invite you to sit in that space between two and three for as long as you feel guided.
I'm going to do the same with you.
I'm going to go quiet and I'm just going to sit in that space between two and three.
Here we go.
And that's it.
Now check in to see how you feel.
Did your mind go quiet for a moment?
Were you able to feel into the peace?
If so,
That's amazing.
If not,
No worries.
It just takes a little practice.
It may take a little bit of time for you to just allow yourself to get into that space.
Let me tell you,
It's only going to be that much sweeter when you get to that point where you can be in that stillness,
That space,
That peace.
This is where your true essence resides.
This is where your joy,
Your peace,
Your flow,
Your gratitude,
Your prosperity,
All of it comes from that space in between the thoughts,
In between the breaths,
In between the actions,
The behaviors and everything in between.
So my friend,
I'm going to invite you to go ahead and incorporate this simple meditation into your day for the next 21 days.
Neuroscience shows us that it takes 21 days to break a cycle and 28 days to begin a new one.
So I'm going to invite you to at least do this meditation for 21 days.
You can do it for 30 seconds.
You can do it for a few minutes or however long you feel guided to.
And then let me know how you are feeling.
I love hearing from you.
I love hearing about your experiences.
So keep me posted.
It's such a blessing for me to connect with you in this way.
I am so grateful for you.
Please feel free to revisit these videos often as they are designed to support you on your journey to creating the greatest vision you have for your life.
