During this exercise we will breathe with intention.
This means we will associate an intention to each deep diaphragmatic breath we take.
When we do diaphragmatic breathing,
We allow the air to fully fill our lungs and actively let the air expand our belly,
And then gently release the air and relax the body.
You can do this exercise lying down or sitting.
If you are sitting,
Find a comfortable seated posture with your feet flat on the floor,
Back straight,
Chest open,
Shoulders and neck relaxed,
And chin slightly down.
Whenever you are ready,
Close your eyes.
Feel your body and notice your breathing.
The intention of our first breath is to open space inside ourselves and release the tension caused by the stressful situation.
With this intention in mind,
Take one deep,
Slow,
And luxurious diaphragmatic breath.
When you inhale,
Notice how your belly and your whole body expand and create space.
When you exhale,
Notice how the body relaxes.
The intention of our second breath is to bring some stability to ourselves,
Despite the chaos and discomfort of this difficult situation.
With this intention in mind,
Take one deep,
Slow,
And luxurious diaphragmatic breath.
When inhaling,
Feel your shoulders moving,
Your belly expanding,
And when exhaling,
Let your mind,
Heart,
And body come home and center.
The intention of our third breath is to detach from those unhelpful thoughts and feelings that are stuck in us.
It's not to get rid of them,
But to let them be so that they can follow the path.
Take one deep,
Slow,
And luxurious breath,
And when inhaling,
Let the air reach each part of your body.
Imagine that this air brings freshness everywhere it touches,
And when you exhale,
Allow those unhelpful thoughts and difficult emotions to rest.
The intention of our fourth breath is to bring some warmth,
Vitality,
And even creativity.
Take one deep,
Slow,
And luxurious diaphragmatic breath.
When inhaling,
Feel the air going through the body,
Revitalizing each cell it touches,
And when you exhale,
Let go the air in an easy,
Relaxed way.
The intention of our fifth breath is to bring some comfort to ourselves,
Because despite the situation,
There are still good things available to us.
This time,
We will involve our upper body during the inhalation.
Take one deep,
Slow,
Generous diaphragmatic breath.
When inhaling,
Move your upper body gently,
As if with this movement,
You are helping the air to reach some areas that it can't reach otherwise.
When exhaling,
Feel the comfort of letting go.
Let go of the exercise,
And when you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
