Welcome to Life,
Lessons,
And Laughter with your host Glenn Ambrose.
Hello welcome to the show.
Today we are talking about,
Ben what are we talking about today?
We are talking about maintaining your faith when fear and panic set in.
Yes.
So,
That's what we're talking about.
So yeah,
It's that fear of staying stuck which can be paralyzing.
You know,
That's the,
And this is kind of the cycle that we get caught up in a lot.
What it is,
Is we feel that fear come up and then basically it kind of does like paralyze us.
So the paralyzing is being caught in a fear.
What we need to do is,
Basically it all stems from the self judgment.
You know,
We get wrapped around like the,
Oh no,
Is this going to work out and oh am I doing it enough and you know,
It's all that mental stuff that we get caught up in instead of the actually doing what we're supposed to be doing.
You know,
So it's that,
I see it in all areas of life.
It's the,
You know,
We start trying to do something and then all of a sudden we hit a little difficulty and we start looking at it and going,
Am I doing it right?
Is this okay?
Or am I not,
I'm not good enough,
I'm not doing it good enough and then you know,
All that self judgment and all that looking at it and picking it apart,
That's the type of stuff that freezes us.
You know,
So really it's just the habit of letting go of that.
I mean,
Hopefully it'll become a habit but it's the action of letting go of that stuff.
That's all egoic tricks.
You know,
And like the way it worked out for me was in the beginning my ego would do those things and it would go,
You know,
Glenn,
Are you doing this good enough and Glenn,
What about this and Glenn and then all of a sudden the panic would come in and I'd be like,
Oh no.
So then I recognized that and I was like,
Oh that's just,
You know,
That's just noise.
It's just thoughts.
It doesn't make it true.
And it's a form of judging myself and it's a form of keeping score all the time.
Instead of just doing what we're supposed to be doing,
We do it for one day and then we go,
How did I do with that?
Did I do it right?
Then we do it another day and then we go,
Did I do it right that day?
And it's like we're nickel and diming ourselves to death.
Like relax,
You know.
We're so used to trying so hard that,
You know,
We paralyze ourselves with overanalyzing it and stuff.
So once I kind of saw that and let go of the judgment on a day-to-day basis of myself and just said I'm going to do the best that I can today,
Then things really opened up and it was wonderful.
And then I made some good ground,
You know,
Spiritually and everything and happiness-wise.
But then I got caught into basically it's the same version of it,
But it's a longer cycle.
That can come into your life on a regular basis and freeze you up.
But once I got rid of that through non-judgment,
Then my ego took the bigger road.
It went like a year cycle.
So and once a year I would get to the point where I would start looking back on the whole year and go,
Oh my God,
I lost my temper this one time.
And I haven't handled absolutely everything perfectly.
And what about this situation?
And then all of a sudden I would,
Then my ego would come in and go,
See Glenn,
You're really not that spiritual.
You really haven't made the ground that you thought you made.
Like all this effort and all this work has been for nothing because you're just,
You've been lying to yourself this last year.
And then I would go through a very difficult period and then have to work through that.
And that would happen like once a year.
Until when I was getting some help from my life coach,
They recognized the cycle.
It's easier for somebody to recognize the cycle.
Especially outside of yourself,
Like a life coach.
So they're like,
Do you see the cycle?
And I'm like,
Yeah.
And like,
Well,
You were not the same person you were last year.
You did do better.
You did do a lot of things.
You did apply all these principles in your everyday life.
There's tons of successes that you have had.
And even if for the sake of argument,
You didn't do that wonderfully all year,
The reality of the situation is you have another year's worth of experiences and that makes you more capable of blowing through that little sticking point right now in your cycle.
Because you have another year's experience to look back on and go,
Okay,
I'm not the same person I was a year ago.
I have experienced things.
And if I choose to learn from them right now,
I can blow through this sticking point that I always get to once a year.
And once I brought that consciousness into it,
I was able to push through and I was able to understand that that was kind of like my ego's last hurrah.
Not that I don't have any ego left,
But it was the last time it really had huge control over me because it lost the day-to-day control when I stopped judging myself and others.
But it still had that aspect of control over me with the yearly cycle.
And then once I broke through that,
It really had to loosen its grip.
So how's that for an entrance?
I'm going to take a nap.
All right.
Hey,
You made it six minutes.
Wow.
Yeah,
Almost seven minutes.
So a little background,
We always say if you have questions,
Send them in,
We'll answer them.
Yes.
And that is where this podcast came from was a fine listener,
Much like yourself.
Yeah,
They wrote in and they're like,
Hey,
And gave me this topic idea.
And what was cool is they explained it a little bit and just a paragraph.
It wasn't some huge email,
But they explained it in a paragraph where when I looked at that paragraph,
There was like four or five different talking points within it on this subject,
Which was phenomenal.
So the next thing that they had asked about was they've been working very hard on the law of attraction.
But slumps of fear and depression that they know is counterproductive,
They're trying to work through.
Right.
So how do you work through these major or minor even slumps of fear and depression while you're trying to work on something like the law of attraction?
And that's very common with the law of attraction.
When people start understanding how the law of attraction works and your thoughts create things and all that stuff,
Then we're so self-critical,
We overanalyze our thoughts and we stop freaking out.
Every time we have a thought,
It's like,
Oh my God,
That's a negative thought.
Oh,
It's going to screw up my law of attraction because I can't be thinking negative thoughts because I'm going to bring them in.
So we overanalyze it.
It's the way I.
.
.
I don't even know where I heard this,
But it made sense to me.
Your thoughts are things and they can create your reality,
But your thoughts are kind of like the rocket ship.
So you can create what thoughts you want.
You can build this rocket ship and go,
Okay,
I want peace,
I want happiness,
Or I want a new house,
Or I want.
.
.
Whatever you want.
You can create a thought of it,
But that rocket ship doesn't have any fuel.
Without the fuel,
It can't go anywhere.
So the fuel is your emotion.
And your emotion should be the clearest way to fuel it.
I mean,
Obviously you can fuel it with some enthusiasm and excitement and stuff,
But when we do that,
We have a tendency to try to control what we're trying to create.
We're like,
Oh,
I have to be excited and I have to be enthusiastic and I need to focus it to bring it into being.
And it's like we're the ones bringing it into being with all that effort.
And we're not the ones that bring it into being.
We are not the power that brings things into being.
The power is the power of the universe,
Or God,
Whatever you want to call it.
That's where the power comes from.
So the clearer emotion to have rather than enthusiasm is gratitude,
Just acceptance,
A knowingness that it is coming,
Faith.
With my clients,
I always use the ordering online example that I heard somewhere.
It's like if you go online and order a blue shirt from a store and it's going to be delivered to your house in a week or two,
You put in the order and that's it.
You forget about it.
It's done.
You have faith that it's going to come.
You don't go calling them up the next day.
Did you get my order?
Did you get my order?
Is it a medium shirt?
Did you get that it was a medium?
How about the color?
You're not sending me the white one,
Right?
I didn't want the white one.
I ordered the blue one.
Like,
No.
You put in the order,
We got the order.
In fairness to a lot of people,
They don't trust that.
As someone who worked for a catalog company for a few years,
Many,
Many people placed orders online and then immediately called and said,
I ordered the white one.
Did you get the white one?
I didn't want the blue one.
Yeah,
It's all there.
And those people,
I bet you if you dissected their life,
They're living in complete fear all the time.
If you're freaking out about an order of a shirt that you put in,
About nine times out of ten it works out well.
And it could have been their first order too.
Maybe they never ordered anything online.
Also,
This was a horrible company and a lot of people didn't get the stuff.
Yeah,
And didn't get what they want,
Right.
So now online ordering is so often and so many people do it and it works so well most of the time.
Sometimes there are mistakes,
You know,
But we don't go,
We wait.
Oftentimes what happens,
And this happens to me,
Like I'll come home and there'll be a package like at my door,
I'll be like,
What the heck is that?
I'll be like,
I know I ordered something.
What did I order?
No,
And I'm trying to remember because that's how much faith I have in the process.
It's just like I put in the order and I let it go.
I assume it's going to be there.
You know,
If a few weeks goes by and then all of a sudden I'm like,
Oh yeah,
Didn't I order a shirt?
Shouldn't that be here by now?
Then maybe I'll go check,
You know,
But I literally.
And what's funny is that's the exact mentality that I've experienced and most of my clients have experienced with the law of attraction when it works.
When they're telling me examples of how it works,
Usually they go,
You know,
I didn't even realize that I had attracted it until a few days later and it dawned on me.
Oh my God,
I put in that thought.
I actually attracted that.
I completely forgot I asked for this.
Going back to the online ordering example,
I think that people.
And I think that this works for the law of attraction and getting into depression and slumps.
The more you want the thing that you ordered,
The more you actually get anxiety over if it's coming.
Yes,
When it's coming.
Exactly.
You know,
If you because you're trying to control it.
It's easy to have faith in.
Oh,
Hey,
That sure it's on sale.
Cool.
Let me get that shirt and then you forget about it.
But if it's like,
You know,
Right now it's Christmas time.
So if it's a Christmas present and you need it by a certain you're going to you're not having complete faith.
Well,
Most people are some people me will will will check,
You know,
Religiously.
Well,
You're touching on the point,
But the point isn't that if you want it more,
You can't have faith.
No,
The point is that it tests your faith.
Right.
Exactly.
It tests your faith more.
It's not as easy if you have more of a desire.
It's not easy because we have a tendency to want to control.
If we think we can control something that gives us a false sense of safety,
You know,
Which there is none.
I mean,
If somebody is going to screw up your order online,
They're going to screw up your order and there's nothing you can do about it.
You know,
But if but well,
That doesn't stop us from trying to control it.
You know,
So it's it's that fear that comes up.
The fear does arise a little bit more if we want something more.
Question about the law of attraction.
Can you manifest something going wrong?
Yes,
Because the only times that I've ever had a problem with an online order is when I wanted it and needed it by a certain day and had high expectations.
Right.
And it's what it is,
Is it's the fear that it creates because the over like I said,
The the fuel that that gives movement to the rocket ship is your emotion.
So when you're fearful that it's not going to come,
The energy,
The emotion that you're giving as fuel is that it's not going to happen properly.
It's you're coming from a space of lack.
So you're every time you check,
You're saying I don't trust.
So and the whole point with the law of attraction is that you have to trust.
So every time you go,
Oh,
My God,
It's probably not going to come.
I better check.
Then you're going,
Well,
I don't believe that it's going to come.
So that's actually what you're manifesting.
You're manifesting it not coming because that's what your fear is and that's what your emotion is.
And obviously we're talking about like packages from Amazon right now.
But in real life,
You know,
This is just a metaphor for whatever it is,
A job,
A new job or promotion.
Absolutely.
It works.
Right.
And that's the thing with spiritual law works across the board.
It's not it doesn't work in one situation and not in another.
You know,
That's why you can we can use real life examples to to explain this stuff that people can relate to,
Because if it's a spiritual law,
It's truth.
That means it works in every situation you apply it to.
You know,
So what happens when you are really trying to not be counterproductive?
You know,
You're really trying to maintain this face.
See,
That's the that's oxymoron.
I know as you go,
You're trying not to be counterproductive.
See the trying is what's making you kind of productive.
You know,
There you go.
OK,
So we have to stop trying so hard.
You know,
That's the problem is we have to learn to just do our best to let go and not judge ourselves.
So like,
If you're sitting there and you go,
OK,
I put in I put this out with the law of attraction.
I want to bring this new job into my life.
And then you go,
Is the job here yet?
I don't know if I'm doing it right.
I don't know if I'm and then all of a sudden you recognize that thought.
What you need to do is you need to go,
Wait a minute,
I can't allow myself to continue going down this path because that's a place of lack.
And I have to look and say,
Did I do everything I can in my power?
Because that's the other misconception with the law of attraction is,
You know,
We just sit on a couch wishing for stuff.
No,
We have to take action because when we take action,
That aligns our vibration with the ability to receive it.
Because most people can't just I mean,
Technically,
You know,
In theory,
We could sit on the couch and just manifest stuff.
The problem is,
Is that nobody believes that it's possible enough.
So that's why it can't happen.
So when you take action,
What that does is it actually aligns your vibration because you're acting as if and you know,
Like the story that explains it well is like two people prayed for rain,
And then one plowed his fields and sowed the seeds to get ready for the rain.
And one just waited for the rain to come,
Which one got the rain?
And it's the one that prepared the fields,
Because he acted as if it was going to come.
Why would you possibly plow the field and sow all the seeds if you didn't think the rain was going to come?
You wouldn't.
So the fact that you're taking the action to do that is actually aligning your vibration within to the belief that it's actually going to come.
So so as we take the actions,
We just have to look at it and go,
Did I take all the actions that I could take to to make this to align myself with this coming in?
Did I apply for the jobs if it's about a job?
Did I?
Yes.
Okay,
Then it's coming to expand on that analogy of the two farmers as well.
The person,
The goal isn't for the rain.
The goal is for what the rain brings,
Right?
So if they're two farmers,
Their goal is a harvest.
Yes.
Correct.
And if the rain is going to come,
The person that acted as if the rain is going to come is prepared to accept the rain and then get the desired result,
Which is a harvest.
Whereas the person who's waiting for the rain to then sow the seeds and plant will never get a harvest because they didn't do anything.
So even if they got the rain,
They wouldn't get their desired result.
Most likely.
And,
You know,
And then in real life,
Sometimes we'll fool ourselves and we'll say,
Well,
When the rain comes,
It's okay,
I'll work in the rain to sow the seeds and it'll still work.
I'll still get the harvest.
But that's not the point.
The point is you need to when you're taking the action of sowing the seeds,
It's literally changing your vibration.
Every step you take,
Every seed you plant is an action that says I'm doing this because it's going to work.
You know,
So it's it's literally changing your vibration to align you with what you're about to receive.
And it's you know,
That that is a good point with the with you know,
That that it's about the harvest and you have to do what what it takes expecting that the help you need is going to come when it when it comes.
You know,
That's how it works.
So it's both.
So that's how it works.
That's you know,
That's what we want to do.
Whereas to compare it to what we don't want to do,
What happens is we go,
Okay,
Did did I did I do everything for to apply for the job?
Yeah,
But what about this?
But what about that?
And and oh my god,
Is it going to come?
Is it going to come?
It's natural to have those thoughts.
We're going to second guess it.
But the problem isn't that we second guess thoughts,
Because thoughts don't have that much power unless we give them power.
So if a thought shoots through you and goes,
What if I don't get the job?
If you look at that thought and you go,
Hey,
It's just a thought.
That's natural.
It's no big deal.
And you let it go.
And you go,
I you know,
Tell yourself something else like I have faith that that and I'm really,
You know,
I'm really putting this out there.
I'm doing everything that I can and it's going to be okay,
No matter what.
And you kind of make the adjustments and you keep moving towards it.
That thought that you had really is not that big of a deal.
And it's not going to wreck your manifestation chances.
The problem,
The thing that wrecks your manifestation chances is when you have that thought that everybody has,
Oh,
Is this actually going to happen?
And you go,
I don't know,
Is it and we attach to that thought.
And then then we start obsessing about the thought and or we look at the thought and we go,
Oh crap,
I had a bad thought.
Now I'm going to manifest a bad thought.
And then we have fear around the fact that we had a bad thought.
And then we go down,
You know,
Then we go down that road.
It's like,
That's why we have to stop judging ourselves about the thoughts that we have.
You know,
Of course you want to try to think positively.
And of course you want to try to have faith.
But you know,
It's been said all you need is the faith of a mustard seed.
You know,
And in my experience,
That's been the truth.
I have had things manifest in my life that I have not had perfect faith in.
I have not,
I don't know.
I mean,
Every once in a while on something small,
I might have had perfect faith because it was small.
You know,
And I'm like,
Yeah,
Of course this will happen.
It wasn't that big of a risk,
But big things in our lives,
We're going to get fearful a little bit.
We're going to second guess it.
We're not going to be pure in thought all the time.
The problem is that we judge ourselves for having those thoughts.
Oh,
I shouldn't have these thoughts.
Now I'm going to create something bad.
And then we go down that avenue,
You know.
That's the biggest problem,
I think.
That's the biggest problem I see.
It's that self judgment.
As soon as we have a bad thought,
We judge ourselves for having a bad thought.
And then,
You know,
Now I'm never going to manifest anything.
So this could be physically exhausting.
Yeah.
Good segue.
You want to speak on that?
So yeah,
That's the next talking point.
It's like,
And I'm physically exhausted.
You know,
So that's the other aspect of just really living a balanced life.
And it plays into manifestation,
Just like it plays into every other area of healthy living.
You know,
Beating the crap out of ourselves just doesn't do anything.
And I think parents,
Well,
It's kind of like everything in life in this realm.
There's a yin and a yang.
So parents,
Like parents have to sacrifice a lot for their children for a lot of years.
But yet they also get a lot of love out of it.
And I think one of the other things that parents get is we get a wonderful learning tool.
Because a lot of times people who are loving and giving and kind-hearted,
Which is most people that are looking down the spiritual path,
Are kind-hearted,
Loving people.
Most people like that find it difficult to be kind and loving for themselves,
But they can find it easy to be loving and kind for other people.
So I always take kids into it and go,
Okay,
You know,
How can the fact that somebody has kids benefit them in this situation?
Well,
What are you teaching your kids?
You know,
If we're in our 30s and 40s or whatever age it is where you're having children and you're burning the candle at both ends and you're physically exhausted and you're depleted and you're so wiped out that you're functioning at 50%,
All you can give is 50% of yourself to your kids.
All you can give is 50% of yourself to your work and to your relationships because that's all you have left.
You're depleted.
And people can,
They don't consciously pick up on that usually,
But they can feel it,
Especially when it's compared to receiving 100% of you.
They can feel that.
So what we're teaching our children is to burn the candle at both ends and deplete yourself.
We're teaching them that by our actions.
And anybody that has kids knows that they listen to maybe half of what you have to say,
But they see 100% of what you do.
And you know,
If when they're,
When your kids are grown and they're in their 20s and 30s and 40s and they're having their children and they're working on their careers and they're doing all their stuff,
When they get,
When they,
When they're trying to find balance in their life,
What are they going to do?
They're going to do the exact same things that we did.
They're going to burn themselves out and they're going to be functioning at 50% capacity if that's what we show them.
But if we show them by our actions how to balance life and take care of ourselves and then give from the overflow,
Then that's what they'll learn,
You know,
And that's what's healthy from us.
And that's,
That's really,
We can't beat the living crap out of ourselves mentally,
Emotionally,
Spiritually or physically and expect wonderful things to happen because it's not,
It's not a self-loving act.
You know,
If we don't care about ourselves enough to take care of ourselves,
Then we're not in alignment with love and love is the energy that manifests everything.
Love is the,
You know,
The energy that brings joy and everything good into our lives.
So if the first person in our life,
Which is us,
We're beating the snot out of because we don't have enough self-love,
At some point we got to work on that or else we're never going to reach where we want to reach.
You know,
To me,
It's the same mentality of somebody that's prejudiced.
Like you can't be prejudiced against a group of people and walk a spiritual path.
You know,
You can't,
It's counterproductive.
It's like,
I mean,
You can for a little while,
But if you're prejudiced against somebody,
You're going to have to get over that at some point because otherwise it will block your spiritual growth.
And it's the same thing with our self-love.
You know,
Yes,
We can grow spiritually to some degree,
But at some point we need to learn to love ourselves and care for ourselves.
And if we don't,
It's going to block our self-growth.
We cannot continue growing spiritually if we don't even love ourselves.
So care for yourself,
Damn it.

This was 99.
This was number 99.
Next episode is 100.
Wow.
Are you excited?
I am a little bit.
A little bit,
Not like over the moon just because it's like,
I don't know.
I don't think I put that much weight on like,
You know,
Oh,
I hit a hundred.
Okay.
Yeah.
But it's been four years.
It's been fun.
And,
You know,
It is like,
So for me,
I think it's,
I don't naturally necessarily find joy because of an accomplishment like this.
Where I bring joy into it is that,
You know,
I read this somewhere.
We need to find reasons to celebrate in our lives.
Instead,
We dismiss these reasons to celebrate,
You know,
Especially as we get older.
Oh,
It's just my birthday.
It's just another year.
And oh,
It's just Christmas and it's really not that important.
And all that we find ways,
It seems it's more and more prevalent in our society.
We brush away,
You know,
Reasons to celebrate and it should be the opposite.
So that's what,
You know,
That's where I try to bring in some joy to this hundredth episode.
Am I like impressed with myself because we did a hundred episodes?
No.
No,
I'm not.
I mean,
It's basically just you and me sitting in a room talking.
Right.
Which is fun.
But,
But,
But it is a reason to celebrate.
It's some sort of a milestone.
So it's like,
Yeah,
I'm happy that I'm happy that it's happening.
And you know,
We are really grateful for all of you guys for listening.
And it's really cool.
It's been really cool.
And I bet you we're going to expand on this a lot in the actual hundredth episode.
Absolutely.
And listen to that,
We usually do a,
We usually do a holiday episode in December.
We're not doing that this time because we have something else to celebrate.
Right.
So,
And,
Uh,
But it's going to be a regular episode,
Just so you know,
Uh,
We'll,
We'll obviously have a little bit of talk about that,
But we are going to tackle.
And if you're listening to this and it's not December,
2017 anymore,
Go find the hundredth episode because it's going to be a big one.
We're going to talk about the meaning of life,
The meaning of life or meeting in life or both.
It's both.

This was very helpful in my current circumstances...wow...just realized that's a horrible descriptive word...maybe more in my present state of spiritual growth .

Wow, I recently listened to the “‘Wouldn’t it be nice?!’ - Manifesting Your Future” show, and this dovetailed nicely! I like the idea that thoughts only have the power we give them, and that if we are coming from a place of love and anticipation of abundance, negative thoughts can simply enter and exit our minds. We can acknowledge and accept, but no need to absorb or act on. Belated congratulations on the 99th and 100th episodes, even if as you said you’re not impressed. 😉 And now you’re well over 130 episodes!! Ben said it was just you and him talking, and I appreciate the laid back style! For me, it makes this info more accessible. Thank you for your encouraging comments, Glenn, I really appreciate the cheering on as I strive for the life I love. As I am manifesting more abundance, one of my goals is to avail myself of your services! Best wishes to you, Ben, and Dave, and THANK YOU for all you do!!

“Thoughts are real but they are not true.” The ideas presented in this podcast can be applied to most life situations. Even being terminally ill. Be blessed🙏🏻
