For 2024,
A survey done in the US found that some resolutions to be more common than others,
With the most popular goals including improved fitness,
Improved finances,
Improved mental health,
Lose weight,
And improve diet.
Now shockingly enough,
Another survey found that the average resolution lasts just 3.
74 months.
Let's just say 4 months.
I kinda know the problem behind this,
And that's what I'm going to share in this episode.
Welcome back to another episode of Meditate,
Manifest,
And Grow.
I'm your host,
Guri.
Maybe you have already set your New Year resolutions,
Or you're late like me.
In this episode,
I'm sharing these 7 steps that you should keep in mind while setting your goals and watch how your resolutions come to reality.
I'm a type of person who set New Year resolutions because it gives me a roadmap and also clarity of where I am and where I want to go without getting distracted too much.
This year,
I'm a little late because I just got back from a long vacation in India with my family.
But now,
I'm back and I'm ready to set the tone for the rest of this year.
So follow along and if you have already laid out your goals for this year,
You will still find a lot of tips that I'm about to share.
Because I don't want you to be one of those people whose resolutions only last 3 months.
So let's get into it.
If I was setting New Year resolutions,
First,
I would ask myself,
Why do I want to set New Year resolutions?
This will force me to think and find the meaning behind this exercise.
I will know my why.
Maybe there are some challenges that I want to overcome.
There is growth that I'm looking for,
Improving my health,
My finances,
My relationships,
Finding more peace and happiness.
There can be number of reasons and your why would be different than any other person.
So before you do anything,
Ask yourself,
Why am I doing this?
Why am I setting New Year resolutions?
What do I want to get out of this episode?
This question helps you to think outside the box.
You stretch your vision.
You see the big picture.
Alright,
Now once we have clarity of where we are going,
The next thing is to set our priorities.
I would ask myself,
What is the one thing that will change the direction and quality of my life?
New Year goals or goals in general can be overwhelming because we want to achieve a lot of things in life.
And that's our human nature.
But how can you stand out and set your goals in a way that have higher probability of achieving them?
Narrow down your focus.
See what are the things that you do that brings the most results.
If you think health is the main challenge for you,
Focus on health.
Because if you are healthy,
You have more potential,
You have more energy and you can focus on the right tasks.
If you need to improve finances,
Because having a consistent income will help you start your art project or your side business or your full-time business,
Then it's time to focus more on that.
Whatever it is,
Do more of what is giving you higher input.
I remember there was a time when I was so obsessed with going full-time in my business.
I saved some money,
Left my job and just focused on the creation part.
I did that for about 8 months and then came the pressure of making it work and also to create some flow of abundance and money for my basic needs.
It was a very stressful time and I used to think about my work all the time and that created a lot of anxiety in my life.
But then I realized I was putting 80-90% effort in the wrong things.
So I had to refocus on my security first and the flow.
While I was still creating the content and giving coaching and creating courses,
But when I did that,
I felt like I released a lot of resistance.
And things start to move quickly.
So if you think you have to readjust,
Refocus,
That is what you need right now.
Now after this,
I will also focus on my mindset.
That means dream big and forget about reality.
Now I am not saying be delusional all the time.
But in order to create that brightest future that you can see in your mind,
You have to be bigger than your environment.
You have to rise up to a different reality by raising your frequency.
And this can be achieved by first questioning your beliefs.
If you think you can't dream big,
Ask yourself,
Why I have this belief?
What is stopping me to dream big?
You will be amazed at how much inner work you have been ignoring,
How many difficult emotions you were suppressing for a long time.
And the easiest way to forget about your reality is to close your eyes and visualize.
When you practice visualization every day and see your future reality happening in your mind,
You bring in all your senses,
You feel it,
You see it,
You taste it.
You taste that reality in that visualization process.
In your mind,
The person who is living that big dream is also you.
Once you realize that,
You tap into a new reality.
Another thing I would do is to get uncomfortable.
Growth lies outside of your comfort zone.
If you continue to do what you're doing now,
You're going to get the similar results.
It is as simple as that.
So if your goals are different,
You have to do things differently.
You might have to change your habits.
You might have to change your lifestyle.
So take the first step even if you don't know anything.
This means you're changing the direction where you're going.
In fact,
You have already taken the first step by listening to this episode.
Remember that first and second step is the hardest.
Once you do that,
Things start to move in a flow.
It might not look like a straight line,
But you will never start from the beginning again because by taking that first step,
You have learned something.
You have more wisdom that you can apply in your life.
So I challenge you today to do something that makes you uncomfortable,
That pushes your boundaries.
It doesn't have to be big.
Like I said,
Brainstorming,
Preparing,
Listening,
Reading about your next step is your first step.
Then,
I will bring simplicity to my resolutions.
By simple,
It doesn't mean easy.
It means less distractions.
So once you have a big goal,
Now simplify your goal.
It is overwhelming to see the big picture.
So use this technique I call goal funneling.
Take a yearly goal into 6-month goals,
And then into 3-month goals,
And then 1 month,
And then 7 days,
And then every single day.
You have to have a roadmap that starts today,
That goes in continuation every day.
The next step is probably be the heart of your new year resolutions.
That is calm mind.
You're going to practice at least 5 minutes,
Preferably 10 minutes or more if you have a regular meditation practice.
When your mind is not calm,
You make impulsive decisions.
You're not in your body.
You're not in control of your emotions.
You're more reactive.
You're more likely to get distracted when you don't have a calm mind.
From my personal experiences,
Meditation is by far the best habit or skill that I have developed so far.
With a calm mind,
I'm able to achieve my goals because I gain clarity when I meditate.
My intuition gets stronger.
That means I take better decisions,
Maybe not always,
But most of the time.
So spend some time in solitude and see how you become aware of your awareness.
And with this calm mind,
You visualize more effectively,
And you're able to tune into the frequency of your goals.
Last but not least,
Challenge yourself.
That means join a program.
Get help from someone who has done it before.
The reason I advise people to find a mentor is because studies show that people who have help or a mentor are highly likely to achieve their goals.
And this is not me who is saying that.
It's a fact.
It is the data that tells us the secret.
If I be so honest,
I remember being a lone wolf for a long time.
I would say I really enjoyed that,
But there was a time when I started to realize that I don't have to figure it out all by myself.
Yes,
Having someone who can guide me and teach me what I don't know comes with a price.
You have to give your energy,
Your time,
And resources,
But the outcome that might take you 5 years,
You can achieve that in a year,
Or 2,
Or even 4.
You still save a year of trying.
And that's one of the biggest mindset shifts I have experienced.
So here is your roadmap,
And I pray that you will achieve your new year resolutions this year and we all can celebrate your wins.
Until next time,
May your dreams be as vast as the universe and your spirit as boundless as the ocean.
Sending you peace and love.
