If you've been trying to figure something out,
And somehow the more you think about it,
The less clear it becomes,
Take a moment here.
Maybe you've been researching.
Planning.
Replaying a conversation.
Thinking through every possible outcome.
Trying to find the right next move.
And underneath all that thinking may be a much simpler feeling.
I just need to know what to do.
Take one slow breath.
And notice what happens when you don't immediately try to answer that question.
Sometimes overthinking isn't really about wanting more information.
It's about wanting certainty.
If I think about this enough,
Maybe I'll know what will happen.
If I prepare enough,
Maybe nothing will go wrong.
If I make the right decision.
Maybe I won't have to feel uncertain anymore.
But uncertainty isn't always a problem that can be solved.
Sometimes,
It's simply a condition we have to learn to be with.
And when uncertainty feels uncomfortable,
Movement can become a form of reassurance.
Another plan?
Another search?
Another conversation.
Another thing to fix.
You can become very good at doing something.
Without actually becoming clearer about what needs to be done.
So for a moment,
Let's make a distinction between movement and direction.
Movement asks,
What can I do next?
Direction asks,
What am I actually seeing?
Those questions can sound similar,
But they're not.
When you're overwhelmed by uncertainty,
The first question can feel much safer.
It gives you something to control.
But sometimes the most useful thing you can do is pause long enough to notice what is actually here.
Not what might happen.
Not what you fear could happen.
Not what you think you should be doing.
Just what is actually happening right now.
Take a breath.
Let your attention come back to the present.
You don't have to solve every possible future.
You don't have to prepare for every reaction.
You don't have to make the perfect decision before you are allowed to move.
And you don't have to turn uncertainty into urgency.
Try this.
What do I know?
What don't I know?
And then,
What is actually mine to respond to right now?
You may notice that the answer is smaller than you expected.
Maybe there is one conversation.
One decision.
One boundary.
One next step.
Or maybe there is nothing you need to do yet.
That is information too.
Place your feet on the ground if that's comfortable and notice the support underneath you.
Let your shoulders soften.
Unclench your jaw.
Take a slower breath out,
Then you take in.
And as you breathe.
Notice whether your body is trying to move ahead of reality.
If it is,
You don't need to fight it.
Simply notice.
I'm trying to get ahead of something.
And gently return.
Here.
Now.
You can allow uncertainty to exist without immediately turning it into action.
You can be capable without carrying every possible future.
You can be responsible without being responsible for everything.
Before you continue with your day,
Ask yourself,
Where am I moving because something genuinely needs to move?
And where am I moving because standing still would make uncertainty harder to feel.
There is no need to judge the answer.
This isn't about becoming passive.
It's about becoming discerning.
Not every discomfort means stop.
Not every difficulty means keep going.
Sometimes resistance asks you to grow.
And sometimes it asks you to realign.
And sometimes it asks you to release something you no longer need to carry.
Your job isn't always to know which one immediately.
Sometimes,
Your first job is simply to become still enough to see.
Take one final breath and remember,
Clarity doesn't always tell you what to do next.
Sometimes,
Clarity tells you what you no longer need to keep doing.
When you're ready,
Carry that knowing with you.
