Welcome to Healing Arts Collective.
I'm Shelley MacLean.
I'm a therapeutic arts healer and host of this meditative channel.
Grab your favorite art supplies,
A journal,
And settle into your cozy creative note.
If you feel comfortable,
Close your eyes and together we'll ground our mind and body into the present moment.
We'll then drift off into a creative guided meditation and at the end,
Feel free to indulge in the healing art activity or simply use this meditation for therapeutic purposes.
This meditation explores our body using color and a visual body scan,
Allowing us to identify blockages,
Tension,
Or the free flow of life happening within us.
Before we begin the meditation,
Start with drawing an outline of your body.
You can make it as artsy or as basic as you like.
I will guide you through a visual body scan,
Pausing along the way to allow you to release any tension held in each area.
Make note of how your body feels and the intensity of color you see.
For example,
The color green.
Is it muted and dull or is it vibrant and bright?
Does your head feel heavy and mind clouded or relaxed and clear?
At the end,
I will prompt you to come back to the outline of your body and using the colors you saw in your meditation,
Color each section.
If you notice points of tension,
Make a point of highlighting this area and reflect as to why you might be holding tension here.
Now let's begin.
Find a comfortable position,
Either laying down or seated.
Take a deep breath in and slowly exhale.
Begin by focusing on your head and jaw.
Notice if your forehead and jaw are clenched tight or are they relaxed.
To release these muscles,
I will intentionally guide you to create tension and then release it.
Take a deep breath in and squeeze your eyes shut and clench your jaw,
Making your face as tight as you can.
Now as you exhale,
Slowly release your facial muscles.
Breathe in again and visualize a violet light shining down on you.
Imagine this light filling your head and bringing a sense of enlightenment and divine connection.
As you take another breath in,
Imagine this violet light traveling down to your neck and shoulders.
Again,
Make note if you're tense or relaxed.
Breathe in and squeeze your shoulder blades together and as you exhale,
Stretch your neck and release your shoulders down away from your ears.
This time,
As you take a deep breath in,
Visualize a blue light as it fills your throat,
Neck,
And shoulders,
Bringing a sense of communication and expression.
Imagine this blue light flowing down to your chest.
How does your chest feel?
Is it tight or at ease?
Breathe in and as you do so,
Flex your chest,
Holding here for a moment.
Now slowly exhale to release,
Melting into the space around you.
Take another deep breath in and visualize a green light filling your chest and heart,
Bringing a sense of love and compassion.
Take a deep breath in again.
Imagine this green light flowing towards your solar plexus.
Exhale and make note of how your stomach feels.
Is it tight and not or relaxed?
Breathe in,
Squeezing your stomach muscles,
Making them as tight as you can.
And now slowly exhale,
Relaxing your entire midsection.
Breathing in and out,
Visualize a yellow light filling your abdomen and stomach,
Bringing a sense of confidence and power.
Allow this yellow light to flow to your pelvic area and your hips.
Inhale and squeeze your buttocks nice and tight.
Now slowly exhale to release.
Breathe in again and visualize an orange light filling your hips and lower abdomen with creativity and sensuality.
Imagine this orange light flowing down towards the base of your spine.
Notice if your legs are tight or relaxed.
Breathe in as you flex your quads and point your toes and exhale as you let them fall to your side.
Breathe in again and visualize a red light filling your legs and feet,
Bringing a sense of security and belonging.
Breathe in and out,
Letting your breath come back to its regular pattern.
Allow these colors to blend together,
Filling your entire body with peace and harmony.
As we come to the end of this meditation,
Sit in this feeling of comfort for a little longer.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes and come to the page before you.
Fill your outline you drew earlier with colors and patterns representing tension and release.
This is a time for you to freely express through art.
