Healing Failure | Releasing Attachment Meditation | Inspiration Dr. James R. Doty This meditation was inspired by the incredible Dr. James R. Doty, Neuroscientist but with my own Jamie lens on top. When we learn to release our grip of failure and attachment to things needing to go a certain way we soften. There is more room for mistakes, learning, growing, welcome messiness of the process so that we can flourish. Success becomes a present moment alignment and not a thing we strive toward. This is a softening your grip meditation. I found it deeply healing when I did it myself. I do hope you enjoy. I have another Compassion Meditation Inspired by Dr. Doty on my page too if you enjoy this one. Love, Jamie

As you begin to start to settle in,

I want to just thank Dr.

James Doty for the inspiration of today's meditation on overcoming feeling like a failure,

Letting go of attachment to what success was supposed to be for you so that you can feel light and free and have the life that is actually yours.

I'm looking at a bookmark right now that says we must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us,

Joseph Campbell.

And allow yourself to settle in and start to breathe into the belly and exhale,

Bringing your full and total devoted presence and awareness right here,

Right now.

Another nice deep breath coming into the moment,

Bringing your attention here into the belly and out.

And just start to soften all parts of your body into the space under you and just take a few seconds to settle in to this quiet,

Soft place here.

And I want you just to bring to mind an intention or desire that you were attempting or have been attempting to manifest,

To create,

To accomplish.

Just picking one that first comes to you is fine.

And I want you just to notice if this became your focus,

The goal,

The desire,

The intention,

And not the process of accomplishing it.

So the desire itself,

Perhaps you were really attached to.

Just noticing that and now noticing how this really impacted you from being present with other relationships in your life.

You were so focused on this thing.

And just breathe and soften.

We're letting our awareness assist us.

And we're just bringing to our awareness now how it feels to have this attachment to the outcome.

Is there tightness or tension or constriction somewhere in your body?

Just notice and just breathe and soften.

And if you did accomplish that goal or you are in the process of it and you've had milestones of accomplishment,

Can you notice those moments of how wonderful you felt?

And can you notice how those feelings were temporary,

Moving,

Transitory?

And then can you notice because they felt so good,

Part of you went on a quest to get more or have it to come back?

And notice now that it's not possible to have it to come back.

It's not possible to have those feelings at all moments.

And notice now that with the attachments and with the success and with the transitory good feelings that under that there is an okayness in you regardless.

That regardless of the weather,

The success,

The feelings,

You're okay.

And we're just going to let that float away,

Knowing that our awareness will bring us any additional insights we need around this.

And we're going to think of a time when we pursued an intention or a desire that we didn't attain or we couldn't or we weren't going to.

And let's notice how that feels in our body.

Maybe a career switch or a career change.

We had in the past.

And just notice that when we didn't achieve it,

While perhaps painful and valid,

The world didn't end.

Notice there may be wisdom or information you gained.

And notice how this too experience was temporary or transitory,

These feelings underneath.

So like before in the face of accomplishing our goal,

With those feelings and going from more of those under that,

We were okay.

And then in the face of not accomplishing our goal,

We were okay.

Underneath all of that,

Our essence is worthy and deserving of love and acceptance unconditionally.

Just breathe and soften.

And notice now it's okay to not be attached to these goals or desires.

It's okay to have them,

To manifest towards them,

To follow a line-inspired action,

To go in that direction,

To want,

Desire.

But to not make it mean something about you at your core when you have it or don't have it.

But it is okay to not be attached.

That it's not a destination.

That it's an unfolding journey of alignment.

Just noticing what this experience is like from afar.

Lastly,

We begin to open our hearts towards ourself for having these experiences.

Noticing an animal or a place or a person that has unconditionally loved us.

And all of our ups and downs.

Noticing what this feels like.

And allowing this feeling to move towards you.

This love and care toward you.

For holding on to a particular outcome.

Innocent to have this experience of wanting something and holding on to it and trying to control the outcome.

And offering that one care,

Nurturance.

They're there,

It's okay.

Noticing how these feelings towards self of care and love and protection endure,

Regardless if your plans panned out the way you wanted or not.

Just breathe and soften.

That with success and failure,

Just notice you are worthy of love.

You are okay.

You are here.

You are human.

And you are unconditionally loved,

Regardless,

Inside.

You are not defined by an event.

And just notice that as you allow these feelings of care towards self to expand,

Can you just gently in your mind,

Release attachment to a particular outcome,

Just a bit.

Allowing your burden to lighten just a bit.

Can you perhaps,

Just a bit,

Detach your ideas of okayness and worth and safety from external circumstances going a certain way.

Can you notice,

Is there a deeper okayness,

Regardless of outcome?

Can you notice the transitory nature of success and failure,

And that within that,

You are free.

Just breathing and softening.

Allowing your mind to offer any insights,

Nothing you need to do.

We're just going to slowly allow ourselves to become a bit more present to the now.

Our awareness behind our eyes,

Our body on the seat under us.

Starting to slowly wiggle and stretch and open our eyes when we're ready.

And just kind of noticing what shifts and changes as you offer yourself this healing.

And thank you again to Dr.

James Doty for the inspiration of this meditation.

Once again,

I am Jamie Wozni,

And I look forward to meditating with you soon.
