Hi,
And thank you for listening in.
My name is Jennifer Vroom,
And I'm a communication expert,
Meditation teacher,
And spiritual coach.
And today's topic is all about cultivating a sense of peace and appreciation for wherever you are in your life today,
Right here and now.
Sometimes we find ourselves in a place that isn't exactly pleasant.
It isn't where we ultimately want to be.
And so we're focused on everything we dislike about a current situation,
Whether that be a relationship,
A location,
A job,
A health issue,
Or any other situation.
I can relate because I've experienced all of the above in my life,
And it can be challenging to take our mind off of our discomfort or dissatisfaction once we get ourselves caught up in that kind of a pattern.
I find that generally we are the unhappiest when we are either stuck in a loop of past memories or in a state of constantly worrying about the future.
Either way,
What we're actually doing is bringing these thoughts and feelings about past or future experiences into our present moment and making this our reality now.
However,
There are some simple practices that I'll discuss shortly,
Which can take less than a minute to do,
Which you can easily start to incorporate into your day that will help you to get out of that negative cycle.
When you meditate,
You give your mind a respite from that constant stress and those constant worries.
So rather than being caught up in the storm,
You can sit calmly in the center where you can see everything from a different perspective.
In this broader perspective,
You're able to honor where you've been and where you are now and even find hope and excitement for what's to come.
Trusting that things will work out for you for your highest good,
Even if you can't see this fully right now.
Growing up as an army brat,
My family had to move several times.
And on the one hand,
Moving could be scary,
Stressful,
And sad when you had to leave behind friends and loved ones.
But on the other hand,
Every move to another state or another country could be really exciting because in a sense,
It offered you a fresh start in a new place,
Meeting new people and experiencing new cultures.
You could almost reinvent yourself when you landed in a new place and at a new school rather than being stuck in an old way of thinking or behaving.
Well,
The great news is that no matter where you are today,
Each day is a brand new launching point for you.
Each new day can be a fresh start with a clean slate.
And you don't have to move to get this fresh start.
You don't even have to wait until tomorrow to start again.
Basically every minute of each new day,
And as I like to think about it,
Every new breath in and out,
Can be an opportunity to start fresh and reset yourself if you allow this.
It's sort of like pushing the refresh button on your computer.
You get to refocus your energy with a clearer mind.
This is what meditation does.
Even the simple act of intentionally breathing in and out can give your mind and body a refresh.
So for the last few months,
I've been on an extended soul road trip,
As I like to call it,
Which I'm traveling each week to a new place based on where I'm inspired to go.
So I'm constantly encountering new people,
Places and situations.
And every morning,
What I do when I wake up is I give thanks for a new day where I'm alive in order to fulfill my soul's purpose in everything I say,
Everything I do,
And in how I will simply be or show up in my day.
It's always my intention for my words,
My actions and my presence to be in alignment with my soul or my inner truth.
And then when I get out into my day living my human life,
I might find myself having a human moment,
Right,
Where I feel annoyed,
Stressed,
Frustrated,
Or basically knocked out of alignment.
And if I if that happens,
I can simply pause,
Take some intentional deep breaths,
Get re-centered,
And start again.
The more you meditate,
The less you'll have these kinds of moments in your day,
With the same level of frequency or intensity that you've experienced in the past.
And the effects of your meditations are cumulative,
Meaning that the more often you meditate,
And the more consistently across time that you meditate,
The more benefit you will receive.
Another thing you can do is when you start and end your day,
You can state or even write down things that you're thankful for.
For example,
I'm thankful that the sun rose today.
I'm thankful for clean air and clean water.
I'm thankful for food in my fridge.
I'm thankful for this roof over my head.
There is no right or wrong on the list.
Nothing is too big or too small.
When we're in a state of appreciation,
We shift our energy.
It puts us in a whole different mindset.
You can start with three things you're appreciative for,
But the more things you can list,
The better.
There are so many things that we take for granted in our lives,
And yet we're surrounded by so many abundances.
And so we can begin to notice and show appreciation for them.
You can also use the following as a sort of a mantra or affirmation for your day.
I am at peace with what is no longer.
I am thankful for where I am now.
I am hopeful for everything that is coming.
I am at peace with what is no longer.
I am thankful for where I am now.
I am hopeful for everything that is coming.
When you set your intention through an affirmation,
You set the tone for your day.
And you can use this as a gentle reminder and resetting of your intentions throughout your day.
If you can begin to refocus your energy and attention just a little at a time,
You'll not only feel better in the present moment,
But you'll also start to notice how things and people around you begin to change because you yourself have changed.
We are all vibrational and like attracts like.
When you begin to shift your own energy,
You'll bring out the best in each situation and in each person that you encounter.
And we can begin by simply shifting our perspective through a practice of appreciation and acceptance.
You'd be surprised how just that small self-care act of sitting down to meditate in your day can have such profound effects on your life and the lives of those around you.
So if you'd like to sit back and be guided in a longer meditation now,
