I meditate with my eyes closed,

But sometimes it feels my sight becomes brighter and wider.

When I breathe out slowly,

I can get into that state more quickly.

I would like to maintain such a state in my daily life.

Do I have to focus on breathing to arrive at this state,

Or is there any other way to achieve this in daily life?

When I meditate with my eyes closed,

But sometimes it feels my sight becomes brighter and wider.

When I breathe out slowly,

I can get into that state more quickly.

I would like to maintain such a state in my daily life.

Do I have to focus on breathing to arrive at this state,

Or is there any other way to achieve this in daily life?

First and foremost,

That state,

You can consider it a part of some type of illusion.

And if you imbue that illusion with meaning,

Then you tend to sink into more of a mysticism.

And as you are trending towards what religious figures have said,

During meditation,

During prayer,

They saw this illusion of Jesus,

Illusion of Guan Yin,

And kind of allow them to sink deeper into some sort of mysticism.

Whatever you see,

Whatever you hear,

Consider all of those as part of illusion,

And do not imbue them with any meaning.

In everyday life,

For example,

When you are driving,

You should focus on your driving.

When farming,

Focus on the farming.

When walking,

Focus on your walking.

So what I teach is that when you are sitting down breathing,

Focus on your breath.

But when you are walking,

Focus on your walking motion.

And when eating,

Focus on the chewing,

The motion of your mouth as it moves to chew,

As well as focusing on the taste,

So you can taste every single flavor in that food.

It's because if you focus on the breath while you are driving,

You might actually create an accident.

And if you are doing some manual labor,

You focus on the breath,

Then you might hurt yourself.

If you focus on the breath while walking,

You may stumble.

So when you are sitting down with your eyes closed,

Not doing anything else,

That's when you focus on the breath.

And when you are in a dialogue conversation,

You should be focusing on hearing the other person.

So basically focus on the situation that's given to you,

And maintain mindfulness in those situations.

So focusing on the breath while sitting down is a practice to allow you to develop the capacity to be able to focus on the thing at hand.

And while you are sitting down,

While you are sitting down and focusing on the breath during meditation,

You don't imbue anything else with meaning.

And what you are being aware is that there's nothing else that's happening in the here and now,

Except your breath going in and going out.

Without tension,

Without effort,

Without excitement,

Or without despair,

You are just letting it be and being constant and consistent in your awareness of the breath.
