In this short and sweet resting back, lying down practice you are invited to feel through the body and relax. Body scanning through the body, we'll feel into the details of the subtle areas of tension and notice how it feels for the whole body as we release and let go. To draw the practice to an end you are invited and guided back into movement.

Just feeling your body resting on the ground.

Feeling into your body as a whole and feeling for any clenching in the body that's keeping you away from totally surrendering the weight of your body to gravity.

Could there be a sense of loosening that grip and allowing yourself to fall back softly into gravity's warm embrace?

Is there any holding in the toes that is keeping you away from surrender?

Any holding in the feet that is keeping you away from resting?

Resting back?

Holding in the ankles that you could let go of that would support you to rest and soften back?

Anything happening in the legs?

Any clenching,

Gripping,

Holding in the legs?

That is keeping you away from the ground.

Any tension or clenching in the skin of the legs or the muscles of the legs?

Or any attempt to sort of support the bones of the legs that you could let go of and surrender into?

Any clenching in the belly that is keeping the belly held in rather than swelling out?

Is there anything in the lower back that is gripping or squeezing,

Pinching that you could soften and that the softening of it would allow your back to kind of meld itself to the shape of the ground?

Anything in the middle back that is being pulled that pulls you in rather than allowing you to soften open?

Any clenching or holding in the upper back and the shoulder blades that you could surrender to?

If you surrender into the upper back and the shoulder blades,

Does that help the chest and the shoulders to relax?

Any softening you can do in the heads of the arm bones or along the arms and the hands and the fingers that would support you to let gravity have her way with you a little more?

That would support this surrendering of the weight of the body to gravity?

Any clenching or subtle,

Quiet tensions in the fingers and thumbs that you could soften?

Anything in the belly,

In the skin of the belly,

The digestive system or the system of knowing and intuition that you could allow to soften and flow open?

Anything in the solar plexus that is pulled tight,

That is held,

That could soften and open?

Anything in the chest that could soften and open?

Anything in the chest that you could surrender to gravity?

Something into the pit of the throat?

Anything there that we could let go of and soften and open?

Any holding in the neck,

Perhaps supporting the weight of the head?

Perhaps if you give the weight of the head to gravity you could support your neck to relax a little more?

Is there some clenching in the jaw that seems to keep us away from rest,

From softness?

I'm just feeling how tension or clenching in one part of the body creates this very subtle pull throughout the body and feeling how softening one part of the body supports the rest of the body to let go.

Can the jaw slacken any more and what does that slackening of the jaw support?

Let the lips fall away from each other,

Let the chin relax,

The cheeks relax,

The jowls relax,

Let the eyes rest back.

How does it feel inside when we relax the temples?

How does relaxing the forehead support this intention to soften and surrender to gravity?

It's taking some moments to feel for yourself if there's anywhere in the body where you're bracing holding clenching.

Can there be this subtle unwinding?

So we're feeling the details of these quiet hidden areas of tension but at the same time the lens is open so we're feeling the whole of the body and feeling how it feels through the body when we let these small areas of tension relax and release.

How does it feel when we relax the forehead?

How does it feel when we relax the jaw?

And just knowing that these tensions are not like buttons that we just switch off like a light switch and then they just stay off and the tension is gone.

It's much more like riding a wave that undulates and rises and falls.

Staying really receptive and open with our awareness to feel those details,

Feel how those small details impact the whole.

Let's come into some extra deep belly breaths as we close this period of stillness and rest.

Big full belly breath in and then exhale side out.

Big full belly breath in and then exhale side out.

Big full belly breath in and side out.

In your own time with your own rhythm coming back to movement but keeping this awareness of the whole and feeling how movement in the details can support or impact the whole.

So is there a way of coming back to movement that supports both the details and the whole?

This real delicacy of awareness which can feel easier to access in stillness than in movement and just having that intention to stay with that awareness as we come back to movement.

Maybe your movement brings some ease to your body,

Some release or maybe your movement is just a pleasure getting into your sweet spots,

Moving in the way that feels really nice.

Understanding what you need and offering it.

Thank you and namaste.
