Your to-do list is long enough! Instead of making mindfulness something you need to do, take a moment to pause and reflect: Where have you already practiced being mindful, today? When you give yourself credit for what you are already doing, you amplify your practice and extend the benefits.

I invite you to be mindful today.

Think about mindfulness as a way to get to know yourself better.

It's a way to enhance your experience of the moment,

Of being alive in the regular real world,

Even when,

You know,

Things are not going your way.

Or when opportunities arise and you feel excited,

But maybe kind of scared.

With mindfulness,

It is useful.

It's not something that you have to carve out as separate from your life.

Instead,

It's something that you tap into,

You practice it and make it a part of how you experience your life.

So let's ask yourself,

What does it look like?

What does it look like for me to be mindful today?

Give yourself credit.

Give yourself credit for all the ways that you're already being mindful.

When you recognize and honor the ways you're already being mindful,

It amplifies it.

The goal is not perfection.

We're interested in process.

The process of bringing mindfulness into your life,

Even if it's something as simple as,

I brushed my teeth and I was present and kind as I was doing so.

The goal is not to be a perfect meditator,

Whatever that means.

It's not about being perfectly calm every day.

Instead,

It's about being in the process of being alive,

Of being human,

Even with the highs and the lows,

Some days are going to be harder,

And that's part of the dynamic reality of being an alive person.

So as you think about the day that you've had so far,

Whether it's been an under the covers and quiet kind of day,

Or whether it's been rushing from one thing to the next,

Barely able to catch your breath,

Just notice where have you been mindful today?

What was that like?

Maybe it was as simple as you woke up in the morning,

You noticed you still felt a little bit sleepy,

And you still put your feet on the floor,

Got up out of bed,

Felt the cool morning air against your skin and took a big stretch.

Maybe that was your mindful moment.

Whatever it is,

Give yourself credit.

And maybe just for this moment,

Give yourself a little bit of kindness and appreciation that whatever you have practiced so far,

It is enough.
