Hello and welcome to this meditation.
I'm Lucy,
I'm a bereaved mum and I wanted to create a special meditation to honour Mother's Day.
Mother's Day can be a complex time with many mixed emotions and triggers everywhere.
So this meditation is an opportunity for you to carve a little bit of time to bring in some self-care and to acknowledge all of what you feel and to know that that is valid.
So finding somewhere to rest comfortably.
Connecting to your breath.
So as your body moves with your breath,
Noticing where in your body you feel your breath the most.
Connecting to the sensations as you breathe.
So you may want to pay particular attention to your breath in the back of your body.
So the movements in the back of your body as you breathe can help you to connect to your breathing.
Your in-breath and your out-breath.
And we're going to be using our imagination now.
So I want to invite you to imagine that at the very top of your head is a wonderfully relaxing,
Soothing,
Bright,
White light.
This ball of light.
And this ball of light gently begins to move down so that it touches your head.
And like liquid gold,
It begins to pour down.
Gently pouring down so it touches your head and it moves down into your forehead.
So imagining this wonderfully warm,
Relaxing,
Bright light.
And recognising that this light represents love,
Compassion,
Tenderness,
Care and support.
And really welcoming those feelings.
Let yourself be supported and cared for.
Let yourself be held in this cocoon of safety.
And this light now moves down your forehead,
Down into your cheeks,
Your mouth,
Your chin and jaw.
So that the whole of your head now is surrounded in this warm,
Relaxing,
Bright light.
And everything that this light touches,
It relaxes.
So noticing now any tension draining away from your forehead and your cheeks and your jaw.
So that the whole of your face and all the muscles in your head can comfortably relax.
And let this light move down your body,
Down your neck and into your shoulders.
And just allowing your shoulders to release and relax and drop down.
Those tired shoulders.
Giving them permission to release their tension.
Just for this short amount of time.
And this light now moves down your body,
Down past the middle of your body and the back of your body,
Your arms and your hands.
So that now your head and your neck and your shoulders,
Chest and back and arms and hands and trunk of your body are all surrounded in this wonderfully relaxing,
Warming,
Soothing,
Bright,
White light.
This light that represents care and comfort and love and support.
And finally it moves further down the body.
Past your hips and your thighs and it relaxes every little bit of tension that it finds.
A little bit like relaxing into a warm,
Soothing bath.
This light has the ability to relax everything that it touches.
And you welcome this in.
This opportunity to feel safe.
To feel seen.
To feel validated.
And so it moves further down the body now.
Down past the knees,
The lower legs and the feet.
So that the whole of your body is cocooned in this soothing,
Warm,
Bright light.
This bubble,
Completely holding you and embracing you in this moment.
And you're really aware of the tenderness that's here today.
Really allowing your emotions to be as they are in this moment.
And bringing in this self-care for you on this very difficult day.
So it's kind of like you're being your own mother.
Mothering yourself.
Caring for yourself.
Caring for your grief.
So just resting here.
Resting in the safety of this moment.
Recognizing that even while it may feel like it,
That you are not alone.
And that while you rest here and listen to this meditation,
There will be other mothers like you,
Also listening,
Also holding space.
So let yourself feel connected to them.
And I want to say,
From one mother to another,
I see you.
And I'm holding you in my heart space.
And I'm recognizing the pain and the heartache and the daily struggle.
But however you feel,
Whatever shows up,
That's completely valid.
Completely valid.
So let your breath be deep.
And you can choose to rest here now for a little bit longer in this space.
Or when the time feels right,
You can choose to move your body and continue on with your day.
I'm sending you all my love.
Wherever you are,
Whoever you are in the world.
Have a gentle Mother's Day.
