Sit in a relaxed posture and if you want to you can even lay down.
Keep your body completely relaxed and keep a gentle smile on your face and if your eyes are closing let them close and if your breathing is becoming light and deep let that be.
Sit comfortably and let go of any effort.
Remain as awareness and observe every experience appearing and disappearing in your awareness.
Investigate your experience like an honest scientist.
Remain completely neutral but effortlessly curious and investigate all the activities of your mind with gentle curiosity with openness.
All we know,
All we live is an experience.
In reality we human beings including any scientists have nothing else but our experience to investigate.
Our entire life is made of experiences.
Your happiness,
Your sadness is an experience.
Every one of your relationships is an experience.
Every information received through the senses of your body is also an experience like the taste of the food,
Smell of flowers,
Touch,
Hearing,
Seeing.
Each of the senses give you a different experience.
So in our investigation we have nothing else to rely on except our own experiences.
Scientists use all kinds of instruments and measurements and they need to be most particular about them but all measurements are only taking place in their experience.
Ultimately experience knows the measurements.
Thus it is crucial to know the nature of experience or the true experiencer.
For this reason in all cultures in ancient and not so ancient times when a seeker set out in search of truth they would close their eyes and begin to search for the truth by investigating thoroughly their experiences and experiences alone.
It is a great data source and the only data source you can truly rely on.
If the essential reality,
The truth or in religious language God resides everywhere in every moment then the truth should be present in every one of your experiences.
And when you try to examine your experiences like an honest neutral scientist and like all sages and mystics in all ages and cultures did you would also end up asking the question that if I is the name I give to the one who knows all my experiences then who or what is that I?
Thus the search for the truth becomes the search for the truth of your every experiences and the search for the truth of your every experience becomes the search for who or what I am.
For who or what I am?
Who is that I the knower of all my experiences is the key question and as per the teachings in Advaita Vedanta the subject knows the object.
Subject is the knower and object is the known.
Pure subject is understood as pure sensitivity,
Pure awareness or consciousness and the object is everything that the subject is knowing.
By object what I mean is any physical substance or non-physical phenomena.
Physical substance include the smallest particle or the biggest planet and non-physical phenomena includes every mental activity,
Thought,
Feeling,
Image,
Knowledge or information.
Information obtained through your senses.
Thus anything that can be known is an object.
Now consider this as a definition of experience that when consciousness or awareness illuminates or touches an object and then what happens after that is an experience.
Innumerable objects come and go in your consciousness and each object gives rise to an experience.
The definition of truth is that it is present everywhere at all times.
So this truth by definition also needs to be present in every one of your experiences.
In this ordinary moment,
In this ordinary experience,
As much truth is present as it can be found anywhere at any time.
So give up your search for the truth elsewhere and immerse yourself completely in this ordinary experience.
If there is one thing in this world that I can accept or you can accept as 100% truth,
Or you can accept as 100% truth,
It is that I am,
It is that you are.
Everything else may be a dream and as we know in dreams every experience or event seem very real.
So at this moment perhaps I may be dreaming too.
But regardless,
Something is happening at this moment.
I can't deny that.
Something is there.
I am here and you cannot not accept this.
So start the search for truth from here.
Being and knowing that you are.
These two facts are always here,
Always happening right now.
Before any experience,
These two things are essentially present.
That you are and that you know that you are.
After this,
Every experience takes place.
And if we have a word for this,
That word is Awareness.
Aware is to know and being is implied by the word aware.
Awareness is to know and being is implied by the suffix ness.
And soon you will realize that this is the most important word,
Awareness.
Another experiential definition of truth or reality is that right now in you,
Whosoever or whatever is listening to my words and to whatever degree understanding my words is the truth or reality.
Keep in mind that the truth is present right here,
Right now.
And you do not need to go anywhere to investigate it or to find it.
Your presence is enough.
So just remain as the truth.
Just like this,
With full confidence.
Whether you can put your finger on this truth right now or not.
But know that you intimately are one with it.
And by the end of this course,
You will know that each experience is a reality.
Each experience is an invitation to know,
To be the consciousness,
The awareness,
The truth,
The essential irreducible self of yours.
So accept my invitation and be one with this presence as your truth.
You
