Meet your Teacher

Meg James is a trauma-informed Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Meditation Teacher with a background in Psychology. She specialises in helping individuals navigate trauma recovery, relationship challenges, anxiety, perfectionism, grief, and life transitions. Meg facilitates private therapy sessions online with clients from all around the world.

Lesson 1

Surviving The Storm Of Heartbreak And Abandonment

In this first lesson, we’ll explore the first and most painful stage of recovery. We’ll look at why this stage is so disorienting, how it impacts your sense of self and safety, and why it’s a vital part of the healing process. You’ll learn how to gently support yourself through the chaos of heartbreak or betrayal, and begin to make sense of the emotional overwhelm that comes when everything you thought you could count on falls apart. Most importantly, you’ll begin to realise: you are not broken, you are grieving. And healing is not only possible, it’s already unfolding; one moment, one breath, one sensation at a time.

Processing The Pain Of Withdrawal

In this lesson, we’ll explore the second stage of recovery. After the devastation of the initial storm of heartbreak, this phase brings a different kind of pain; one of aching emptiness, deep longing, and emotional dependency that can feel all-consuming. In this lesson, you’ll learn how withdrawal from your lost love impacts both your brain and body. And most importantly, you’ll learn techniques to validate your emotions, soothe your pain, and tend to yourself with compassion.

Honouring Your Needs And Tending To Your Inner Child

In this lesson, we’re going to explore how connecting with your inner child is a crucial step in the second stage of the recovery process. We will delve into practices that help you reconnect with this tender part of yourself, allowing self-love to become the foundation for your healing. By the end of this lesson, you’ll not only understand the role of inner child healing in recovery, but you’ll also have a practice to nurture your deepest needs, fears, and longings.

Breaking Free From Patterns Of Self-Abandonment

In today’s lesson, we’ll explore the third stage of the recovery process. This is the stage where shame takes hold, often giving rise to self-abandoning survival strategies like people-pleasing and perfectionism, coping mechanisms that develop in the wake of heartbreak and abandonment. By the end of this lesson, you’ll have a deeper understanding of how these patterns fuel feelings of unworthiness and, most importantly, how to meet yourself with tenderness and compassion in the midst of this deeply painful process.

Just what I needed. After 35 years and 2 children together my partner said he doesn’t love me anymore.💔 I was stunned, shocked, devastated and crushed to name just a few emotions. I really found this course to be enlightening and I am about to go back to the beginning to go over it again. The description of the stages of recovery from abandonment was well described and the examples were easy to understand and relate to. The accompanying meditations were so beneficial I’m not sure where to start. If for no other reason it gave me a few minutes of calm in a very messy head.
