So just allowing yourself to become comfortable,
Either lying down or sitting.
Noticing all the places your body touches the surface you're on.
Bringing your awareness to your breath as you breathe in and as you breathe out.
Noticing all the places in your body that move the air in and move the air out.
And with each breath just allowing yourself to draw closer and closer to your inner world.
Connecting deeper and deeper to that internal place with each breath.
Breathing in and breathing out.
And as you do,
Sensing or imagining or feeling that there is a staircase in front of you.
This staircase will lead you to a special place,
A sacred sanctuary.
This place may appear to you as a temple,
A palace,
A garden,
Or any sacred place that has special significance for you.
As you move along the stairs,
I'll count from five to one.
And at the number one,
You will be in that sacred place that has special significance to you.
Five,
You place a foot on the first stair,
Noting what material the staircase is made from.
It might be made of wood or brick or steel or some other material.
Four,
You may place your hand on something like a guardrail,
Noticing what the guardrail feels like to your hand.
Is it cold or warm?
Three,
Just continuing along the stair,
Knowing you're getting nearer and nearer to that sacred place that may appear to you as a temple,
A palace,
A garden,
Or some other place that has special significance to you.
Two,
Getting closer to the end of the stair where you will be at or very near to arriving in that place.
One,
Now just arriving at the end of the stair,
Stepping onto the ground and finding yourself in that place,
This temple,
This garden,
This palace,
Or another place that is sacred to you.
Taking a moment now to feel what it's like to be in this place.
Does it have a smell?
Where is the light arriving from?
Perhaps this place feels familiar.
Just noticing if there are any sounds and what the quality of the ground or floor feels like to your feet,
Hard or soft,
Wood or earth or some other material.
Take a moment to feel this place fully.
Now just imagining,
Feeling,
Or sensing that a great amount of light is streaming into this place and noticing how it feels to be in this light.
Allow yourself to notice where the light is coming from.
Even though it feels so good to be back in this place with this light,
Now just allowing the light to lead you all the way back to its source.
Following this light all the way to its origin.
And now just arriving at the light's source.
Taking a moment to feel this light's quality.
Being mindful of how this light feels to you.
Perhaps warm or cool,
Soft or hard or another quality.
Now just allowing yourself to rest in this light,
Knowing that if any thoughts or feelings should arise that you can let them pass,
Returning your awareness to the source of the light.
I'm going to stop speaking for a while as you rest in this light.
And can you please chime in before we begin?
