Often when we are stressed there is another person involved. We can be angry with the person causing us stress or we can choose to send them loving-kindness. In this meditation we focus on sending loving-kindness to those who are causing us stress and, thus, lowering the anxiety and increasing the love!

This is Dr.

Shai Akas,

And this meditation,

Lowering Your Stress with Love and Kindness,

Is based on a live event I did here on Insight Timer very recently.

And the example that I gave is that recently,

My boss did something that was quite upsetting and made me stressed.

And rather than being stressed and anxious,

I lowered that stress and anxiety with love and kindness.

I simply said to myself,

Boss,

May you be happy.

Boss,

May you be healthy.

Boss,

May you find love.

Boss,

May your life be filled with ease.

This can be used in so many different possibilities.

Whenever I say a name,

Just put in your own name.

Name of the person who's causing your anxiety,

Or the example that's causing your anxiety.

So for example,

Perhaps your child is causing you to be stressed.

You might say to your child,

Chris,

May you be happy.

Chris,

May you be healthy.

Chris,

May you find love.

Chris,

May your life be filled with ease.

Sometimes when we're sending love and kindness,

The stress goes down.

Perhaps you're in a crowded subway car,

And you're shoulder to shoulder,

And it's hot and it's sweaty,

And someone's playing their radio too loud.

You simply look at the person,

And in your mind you say,

Hey radio player,

May you be happy.

Hey radio player,

May you be healthy.

Hey radio player,

May you find love.

Hey radio player,

May your life be filled with ease.

Perhaps you're in the library wanting some quiet so you can get some work done,

Or perhaps even in the office.

Sometimes talking on the phone,

And you look at that person,

And instead of getting anxious and stressed and angry,

You say to yourself,

Hey phone talker,

May you be happy.

Hey phone talker,

May you be healthy.

Hey phone talker,

May you find love.

Hey phone talker,

May your life be filled with ease.

Or perhaps you're in the market,

And someone ahead of you is going very slowly in line,

And you're in a rush,

You want to get home and make dinner,

And the person in front of you is just taking their time,

La-di-da,

And making you late,

And late later and later.

You say,

Hey slow person,

May you be happy.

Hey slow person,

May you be healthy.

Hey slow person,

May you find love.

Hey slow person,

May your life be filled with ease.

Or perhaps you have to call customer service,

And the person on customer service on the phone just is not taking care of business,

Maybe they're the first day on the job,

Who knows.

Instead of getting angry and anxious,

You say to yourself,

Hey customer service person,

May you be happy.

Hey customer service person,

May you be healthy.

Hey customer service person,

May you find love.

Hey customer service person,

May your life be filled with ease.

And all through your day,

As you go through your day,

You can use this very simple,

Very powerful technique to lower your anxiety,

To lower your stress,

To send loving kindness to the world,

And to be the change in the world that you want the world to change to.
