The wisdom of the Guru teaches us to recognize our body as a home or a mansion somewhere that you go into,
You explore and you stay.
And the wisdom teaches us that within this body is something of immense value.
So let's try an exercise.
Let's bring our attention to our bodies and let's explore this mansion.
And you can do this with your eyes opened or closed.
So start by bringing your attention to your eyes.
What if your eyes were sacred?
How would you treat them?
What would you want them to look at?
What would you not want them to see?
Now bring your attention to your ears.
If they were sacred,
Who and what would you want them to listen to?
What music?
What sounds?
What conversations?
Now bring your attention to your mouth.
If it was sacred,
What food would you put in?
What tastes would you be running after?
Would you be careful about what comes out of your mouth?
Think about when you've used kind words,
Words of praise,
Love and encouragement.
How did they make you feel?
Now think about times when you've used harsh and cruel words.
How does that make you feel?
Now bring your attention to your back.
And take a moment to just feel gratitude for the support that it gives you.
Think about your heart and your lungs.
If it was sacred,
Are you really treating it as well as you need to?
Are you looking after those things that are giving you life?
Now let's go to the stomach.
It keeps working hard,
Processing all the fuel that you put into the body.
How are you nourishing it?
Could you do better?
Bring your attention to your arms and your hands.
And ask yourself,
Am I really using them in the best way?
When have they been used to hurt or serve others?
How have they served someone today?
Think about your feet,
Your knees,
Your legs.
Think of all the places that they've taken you to.
What places would you not want to go to again?
What good have they done?
What things would you like them to repeat again?
Now bring your attention to your entire body.
How do you feel about it?
Take a moment to be thankful for how it serves you.
Feel love and gratitude for this precious gift that you have.
Reflect on times when you've not cared for it and taken it for granted.
Ask it for help so that it may be used in the best way possible with whatever time you have left with it.
And for those whose eyes are closed right now,
Whenever you're ready,
Bring yourself back and open your eyes.
