Hi,
Hello and welcome.
In this meditation we are going to be growing our roots.
So if your eyes are closed and we're breathing in and breathing out,
We will begin.
If your mind wanders at all,
You start to think about something or you start to worry,
It's not a problem.
All we need to do is just return back to our breath.
So remember,
We're breathing in and breathing out.
Just feeling that natural breath in and out.
Now using our imagination and the pictures in our mind,
I just want to see a tree.
Imagining your body as a big tree with the leaves and branches up above your head,
Flapping in the wind gently.
So seeing ourselves as a tree in our mind,
In the pictures in our head,
We're just going to feel into our feet.
Out of these feet,
Just like on the tree,
We're going to grow some roots deep down into the earth.
So if you'd like to join me,
Still breathing in and breathing out,
Just start to imagine from your feet,
Tiny roots growing down,
Down in amongst the soil,
Spreading out just like the roots you see on a plant.
So as they go out from you and down,
They're going wider and wider also into the ground.
Deeper and deeper amongst the worms and the stones and the soil.
Deeper,
Deeper,
Still going further until we see a light deep down in the earth.
And we're just going to send our roots in to connect with that light.
This light can be any color you wish,
So choose whatever feels good for you.
Just sending your roots to this light and letting them be held there and feeling that good feeling that comes from that.
And now as we breathe in and breathe out,
We're going to draw and suck that light up through our roots,
Back to our feet and to the trunks of our trees.
So breathing in and feeling that light work its way up through your roots.
Just drawing it in,
Letting it travel up towards the surface,
Past the worms and the rocks,
Through the soil,
Drawing that light up until it comes into your feet and feeling it flow through your feet and your ankles and your legs and your knees,
Up to your bums and your stomach and your chest and your shoulders and your arms and your hands and up your neck and into your head.
And into the leaves and twigs of your branches above,
Feeling that light from the roots glowing inside your body and the trunk of your tree.
And just taking a few moments just to breathe and just to ask yourself how do you feel?
Do you feel any different?
Does it feel good?
Do you feel calm?
And just taking a few moments just to breathe and just to feel into what this feels like for you.
Remember there's never any right or wrong answer.
All that matters is how you feel.
So still breathing in and breathing out and saying thank you to whatever you might like to say thank you too.
And also to be happy with yourself and know that this was a good thing that you did for yourself today and be happy about that.
And now as we come to the end just taking a few deeper breaths in and out perhaps and really letting go on the out breath.
And wriggling your fingers and wriggling your toes.
Giving your neck a little shuffle and your arms and legs a little stretch.
And just opening your eyes very slowly and calmly and coming back to the room whenever you're ready.
