Welcome to the healing sound meditation.

We'll be using the Taoist practice of the six healing sounds.

This practice is great to let go of emotion and focus on the positive virtues that we always hold within.

If at any point an emotion that's brought up becomes too strong or too difficult,

Just let it go.

You can always shift your focus back to the breath.

To begin,

You can find a comfortable position.

Seated is preferred,

But if that's not accessible to you in this moment,

Just find whatever position works.

You can settle into that surface that you're seated on or lying down on and begin to notice your breath.

Notice how it's moving and notice this moment of stillness.

This is time for you to focus on your well-being.

As you flow with your breath,

You can feel free to close the eyes.

You can also keep them open throughout the healing sounds practice.

Just do whatever feels best for you.

So we'll be moving through five different organs,

Five different emotions,

Five different sounds,

And five different virtues.

This practice is both purging and tonifying,

So it allows us to release emotion while also creating this balance in the body.

We'll begin by focusing on the lungs.

Our lungs hold on to the emotions of grief or sadness.

While their virtues are courage and righteousness.

The color of our lungs is white.

And the healing sound is so just S held out.

You can begin to bring these emotions of grief or sadness to mind.

If you have a specific example of these emotions,

You can definitely explore that if it's comfortable.

Otherwise,

Just bringing these emotions up is enough.

So you can imagine that you're gathering up these emotions.

It's time to let them go.

So we'll be taking a deep full breath in and using the healing sound.

On the exhale.

The sound will signify the release of emotion.

Deep full breath in letting go with the sound.

Bringing the lungs of these emotions.

Just holding out that sound for as long as the breath allows.

There's no need to force it.

And with this release,

You can now focus on welcoming in the virtues of courage and righteousness.

Imagine a bright white light touching the top of your head,

Moving down through the body and filling up your lungs.

This healing light brings with it courage and righteousness.

It expands throughout the lungs into the rest of your body.

And with this focus on courage,

Gently allow a smile to form on your face.

Bringing gratitude for your lungs,

For all that this organ does to support you.

Holding the smile for another moment and gently allowing the face to relax once again.

And we'll take this courage as we move to the kidneys.

The kidneys hold on to the emotion of fear.

The virtues are calmness and stillness.

The color is dark blue.

And the healing sound is Chu.

Spelled out C H O.

So shifting your attention to the kidneys and to the emotion of fear.

Fear can be useful.

It can help us stay safe or make the right decisions.

But when fear consumes us,

It tends to cause us from really living our life.

I have definitely found that fear has held me back.

So I definitely need this healing sound to help bring back that balance.

So you can imagine gathering up this fear.

And really focusing on letting it go with the exhale.

Taking a deep full breath in.

Letting go with the sound Chu.

Allowing this fear to release from the kidneys.

Noticing how the body feels.

And with this release,

You can now welcome in this calmness and this stillness.

Imagining a dark blue light,

Touching the top of your head,

Moving down through the body and filling up the kidneys.

This calmness and stillness expands throughout the kidneys into the rest of your body.

And with this focus on calm,

Still energy and the kidneys,

You can gently allow a smile to form on your face.

Showing gratitude for all that this organ does.

Knowing that you can always greet your fear with calmness and stillness.

Gently allowing the smile to leave your face.

Relaxing the muscles.

And we'll take this calmness and stillness with us as we shift focus to the liver.

The liver holds on to the emotion of anger.

While the virtue is kindness.

The color is emerald green.

And the sound that will make on the exhale is Shh spelled out as H.

So beginning to scan the liver for any anger.

I find that anger is always a reactive emotion for me.

Whenever something happens that can really rub me the wrong way.

It's really easy to greet that with anger.

This is a reminder that you can always access kindness,

Even when consumed with anger.

So on this next breath.

You can imagine that you're gathering up this anger and letting it go on the exhale.

A deep breath in.

Letting go with the sound.

Imagining that this anger is being released from your liver.

Noticing how this emptiness feels.

And with this release.

You can now focus on kindness.

Imagining that a green light touches the top of your head moves down the body,

Reaching your liver.

This light is glowing.

And it helps to expand this kindness throughout the organ.

This kindness moves into the rest of your body.

And with this focus on kindness and on the liver.

You can gently allow a smile to form on your face.

Imagine smiling down to your liver.

Showing gratitude for all that this organ does to support you.

Holding that smile for another moment.

And gently letting it go.

Relaxing the muscles in your face once again.

And will bring this kindness with us as we shift our focus to the heart.

Our heart holds on to the emotions of hate or impatience while the virtues are joy and love.

The color of the heart is red and the sound that will be making on the exhale is ha.

So your heart is such an important organ.

It really does so much to support you.

You can place one hand over your heart center to really bring your attention to this organ.

Deeply breathing into the heart center.

And bringing up these emotions of hate or impatience.

And with this next deep breath.

You can imagine gathering up these emotions.

And just letting them go on the exhale.

Taking a deep full breath in.

Letting go with the sound.

Feeling that release from the heart center.

Letting go of this hate and impatience that no longer serves you.

And with this release.

You can now focus on the virtues of joy and love.

Imagining a bright red light moving from the top of the head through the body and filling up your heart.

This light is glowing and fills this organ with joy and love.

As you focus on these virtues.

And feel this joy and love expand within your heart.

Gently allow a smile to form on your face.

Showing gratitude for all that the heart does to support you.

Imagine smiling directly down to your heart.

Holding the smile for another moment.

And gently allowing it to release from your face.

Relaxing the jaw.

And we'll take this joy and love with us as we move on to the spleen.

The spleen is our fifth organ.

It tends to hold on to the emotion of worry.

While the virtue is openness and presence.

And the color of the spleen is yellow while the healing sound is who spelled out w h o.

So we'll focus on the spleen.

Located on your left side just under your rib cage bringing to mind this emotion of worry.

And focusing on gathering up this worry and letting it go on the exhale.

As the worry consumes us it can often reduce our quality of life.

And affect our ability to be present.

So taking a deep full inhale.

Letting go with the sound.

Allowing this worry to release from the spleen.

Making room for openness,

Uncertainty.

And with this space you can now imagine a bright yellow light moving from the top of your head all the way down into your spleen.

This light fills your spleen with openness and certainty.

This gives you reassurance that whenever you feel consumed with worry you can always access this certainty.

Really feeling this sense of certainty.

And feeling this yellow light glow.

You can gently allow a smile to form on your face.

And imagine smiling down to your spleen.

Showing gratitude for all that this organ does to support you.

Feeling this certainty from within.

Holding that smile for another moment.

And gently allowing the muscles in the face to relax.

And we'll carry this certainty with us as we move on to this last sound.

This sound is known as the triple warmer.

It's used to balance the temperature of the body bringing hot energy down and cold energy up.

It symbolizes this continuous flow of energy.

So now that we've released these stagnant emotions we could let our energy flow freely.

The sound that we'll be making on the exhale is he.

So taking a deep breath in.

Releasing with the sound.

And imagining that there's a continuous flow of energy starting at the top of the head moving all the way down to the bottom of your feet.

This creates a balance in the body.

And we'll take this last part of practice to check in with the body.

Doing a short body scan.

It's important to notice any changes after practice.

And just notice how you're feeling.

Beginning with the top of the head,

Noticing where there's tension still or noticing where you feel fully relaxed.

Moving from the top of the head to the neck to your shoulders,

Upper back,

Lower back.

Noticing where you feel tension,

And maybe where you feel release.

And we'll take a deep breath together,

Letting go of anything else that you need to.

As we begin to let go of this practice.

I hope that you can hold on to this positive energy and continue to focus on these virtues of courage,

Kindness,

Openness,

Certainty,

Joy,

Love.

And if you were unable to connect with these virtues,

Know that that is okay.

Just taking time to give each organ this attention is doing so much.

So as we let go of practice,

You could begin to reconnect with the surface that you're seated on.

Maybe make some small movements with the head or the shoulders.

Begin to wiggle your fingers or your toes.

Move or stretch in any way that you need to.

And just take a moment to thank yourself for showing up to practice.

And whenever you feel ready to do so,

You can gently open your eyes,

Slowly returning your awareness to the environment.

Thank you so much for practicing.
