Hello and welcome.
I'm Sarah and today I thought it might be helpful to start the day with something positive,
Something accepting.
I was messaged the other day by a lovely listener who mentioned that they find it quite challenging to focus on the breath or a part of their body so perhaps today we can do something a little different.
It may be that you have something that can be an anchor for you where you are.
Maybe a candle you can light gazing at its flickering flame.
Maybe one of those lava lamps from the 60s.
Or maybe you're sitting somewhere where you can hear the birds,
The hum of traffic,
Maybe another sound.
Perhaps there's something else in your environment that you can give your attention to.
A pet to stroke,
A blanket to feel.
There's no right or wrong,
Just give it a go.
Pausing to steady yourself before the day begins.
Just doing what you can manage to feel comfortable.
And whether you are still in bed or sitting on a cushion,
A chair,
That's okay.
I hope the day ahead of you will be a good one but of course none of us really know what the Approach each moment with a sense of curiosity,
Acceptance,
Understanding more and more that even if we can't quite see a solution to the problems we face yet a solution will come.
We just need to be as patient as we can be.
Connecting to others who might be able to help us.
Giving ourselves the gift of time,
Space,
To pause,
Reflect.
We don't have to be perfect.
You don't have to be perfect.
Let's just take a few moments to connect with whatever your anchor is.
You'll find that your mind drifts and that's fine.
As you notice,
Just bring your attention back to the candle,
The birds,
The blanket and begin again.
It's a constant changing focus and drift.
Focus and drift.
Focus.
The more you practice,
The easier it becomes.
Just being with this thing that you've chosen to be your anchor,
To come back to.
When your mind goes elsewhere,
Perhaps we can bring a moment of gratitude into our practice.
Thank you candle.
Thank you birds.
Thank you dog or cat.
We could both wonder how it might feel to bring this sense of gratitude into the rest of our day.
Thank you cup of coffee.
Thank you person who smiled at me in the shop.
Maybe this imagining might bring a smile to your lips.
The day ahead,
A series of moments.
Moments to savour.
Some good.
Some great.
Some perfect.
Perhaps a little bit meh,
But we need those somehow to provide the contrast.
Help us appreciate the good ones.
Good moments.
I hope that your day is sprinkled with quite a few that you can notice.
Remember.
Enjoy.
Even the most challenging of days will have moments of connection.
Perhaps today is the day you can begin to notice those moments.
Just take as long as you would like to be here with your anchor.
And only when you are ready,
You can stretch,
Sigh and begin to relax.
Begin to live the best day you can manage.
Thank you for joining me today.
I hope we meet again soon.
